What did you say "No" to today?

I thought I'd start a thread where we could record our little daily victories, since some days it's so hard to resist the urge to binge and we deserve a place to celebrate when we manage. :carrot: I hope others find the idea motivating as well.

Sometimes it feels like food is absolutely everywhere, being pushed on us at work, at home, at parties, when we're driving, when we're shopping, etc.

I'll start:

This morning I said "no" to stopping by McDonalds for breakfast, which I drive past on my way to work, and I am so happy! I always binge when I go there and it would have made me feel awful all day.

I also said "no" to donuts that were downstairs in the break room. :D

So, what did you say "NO" to today?!?

VeeDeValentine 01-13-2010 01:10 PM

Ohhh good idea!
Today I went to the cinema, and my friend bought a bag of toffee crisps chocolates, the whole bag must have been 600calories EASY. She offered me some, I said no :) I was happy with my yummy cherries ^_^

bandit2 01-13-2010 01:15 PM

Hi - I said no to homemade cookies/tarts in lunchroom.

honeybjones 01-13-2010 01:21 PM

My friend and I were getting our tea this morning and the cafe had packages of little powdered donuts which I dearly love. My friend said we should get one to split later I said Oh my gawd :o no we shouldn't!

tiffany0809 01-13-2010 01:35 PM

I said no to a bagel w/ cream cheese craving.

jennsreadytolose 01-13-2010 02:15 PM

Big Mac and fries, gotta say this salad isn't really cutting it lol but I am working too hard to mess it up now.

Aunty Jam 01-13-2010 04:42 PM

I said no to pastries that were supposed to be "SSSSSOOOOOOOO good!".

Shytowngal 01-13-2010 04:47 PM

Last night my boyfriend brought Taco Bell home for us (trying to sabotage me)! I threw all of it down the garbage chute...
I said no to Breakfast pastries/Donuts at work.

Wild Vulpix 01-13-2010 05:21 PM

Mine's not a huge feat, but saying 'no' is saying 'no'! I opted for only having 8 fish sticks (an outstanding 400 calories!! Who would have guessed that they were sooo much?) when normally I'd probably double that and try to fill up the tray with fish sticks/chicken nuggets/french fries.

paris81 01-13-2010 05:35 PM

Stopped at Blockbuster today, right before lunch when I was STARVED--said no to MOUNDS and MOUNDS of junk food. They have so much candy for sale there, you'd think it's a candy store, not a video rental place. It was really hard, I wanted to buy it all.

finn 01-13-2010 05:38 PM

double chocolate chip muffins - no thank you! YES!

Forgotten Quill 01-13-2010 05:48 PM

Greetings!

Well, today I brought my lunch to work, but as I was browsing the Internet, I saw one of those pop up banners for Panda Express featuring their "Wok Smart" menu--a selection of meals under 200 calories. Intrigued, I took the bait and visited the site.

Some of the meals looked really good, especially the tangy shrimp bowl (just 190 calories) and a veggie spring roll (340 calories because you can't really just eat one, right?) and some rice (5,000 calories) and oooooo....fortune cookies (I want about 10 of those)...

Yeah, never mind.
I ate my sandwich.
Stupid Internet banners.

Aclai4067 01-13-2010 05:48 PM

Chili's- I got a gift card for Christmas. But even their "guiltless" options aren't as low cal or a tasty as the lunch I got at Jason's Deli instead!

KristenFlynn3 01-13-2010 07:02 PM

I said no to a snikers bar. We sell them at work and I got a chocolate craving. I checked the clock it was only an hr till my next mean time so I said no thank you and had a chocolate protien shake instead

lovingsam 01-13-2010 07:16 PM

Said no to Jack in the Box curly fries. My daughter got out of school early today for final exams and wanted Jack in the Box for lunch. I took her through the drive thru but didn't order anything for myself. Came home and made a nice low cal, healthy lunch for myself instead.

Violet73 01-13-2010 07:18 PM

I was so hungry this morning and was out and I said no to fast food and went home to eat at lunch!!!

choirgirlhotel 01-13-2010 07:19 PM

this just happened to me!

I went into Starbucks and they offered me a free vanilla cupcake. I LOVE CUPCAKES, they are my ultimate favorite dessert and i can never resist. and for free! not only did I say no, but I actually stared at them in the glass case and STILL maintained my "no".

wow, actually after writing this I feel so much better about myself! thanks!

~CGH~

MapleLeaf 01-13-2010 08:00 PM

Wow, CGH, that is awesome! It is so hard for me to say no to free food, especially something that yummy.

You guys are all so inspirational, I love it! :woohoo:

Mollz 01-13-2010 09:17 PM

I said NO to the chips I wanted for lunch and stuck to my meal plan instead- I had the rice crackers.

dragonfly21 01-14-2010 12:27 AM

I didn't eat perfectly healthy today, but I did avoid a major binge. This is kind of long, but I want to get it out!

I was really upset due to some problems with this perspective job. I am unemployed, but recieved a contract for a job recently. However, there is so much government paperwork and clearances needed, I'm not sure I will be cleared on time to start.

So, anyways, I went out to get some movies- I needed a distraction for the rest of the night and there were a few I have wanted to see. I was crying almost the entire way to Blockbuster and thinking- the only thing that goes with movies- is a ton of food. I started imagining sitting in my bed, watching movies, and eating to my heart's content. This thought was EXCEEDINGLY tempting and I was sure it would make my day allll better.

I caught myself and acknowledged what I was feeling, which was frustrated and scared. I asked myself how exactly eating would help (it would feel great for about 10 minutes- then I would be miserable) I go to the gym at night (at like 1 in the morning- hey, I'm unemployed!) and I thought, if I binge, I wont work out. If I binge AND don't work out- I will feel like I ruined my day. So I made it back safely to my house, watched my movies and ate a normal dinner. :)

MapleLeaf 01-14-2010 10:01 AM

This morning I said no to muffins, quiche, donuts, fried potatoes, cheesecake, and a whole bunch of other things.

We had a brunch party at work today and I just had a few deviled eggs with most of the middle scooped out. :D I didn't binge!

VeeDeValentine 01-14-2010 10:47 AM

I said no to repeated offerings of Jaffa cakes:)

Mikan 01-14-2010 12:07 PM

My boyfriend offered to replace the honey tart frozen yogurt in my fridge. I said.. no we can wait until another week.

Lizaly 01-14-2010 12:09 PM

I said no to chocolate. I tried just having a small piece last night and ended up having way more than that (still not too much though) and this morning the leftover chocolate was really calling my name. I never craved chocolate in the morning. I had my regular breakfast and then, instead of indulging the chocolate, I had a banana. I felt really good when I finally left for work!!

Skyra 01-14-2010 01:25 PM

Yesterday I said no to my supervisor offering me homemade brownies. My Achilles' heel!! But I said, "no, thanks," and when she said, "Are you sure?" and pushed one toward me, I said, "Yep, I'm sure," and just smiled at her until she took the brownie back.

I've been reading all your stories -- and I just wanna say GOOD! FOR! YOU!

jigglefree 01-14-2010 06:33 PM

Congratulations everyone!! :cp::cp::cp:
Everyone has candy on their desk, mostly chocolate and I never say no and I walked by it all day not even tempted.

VermontMom 01-14-2010 06:55 PM

I thought of you all and this thread today!! I was driving around doing errands, and I really, really wanted to go to Dunkin Donuts and get a coffee and one of their obscene muffins...but instead I got went to a quickie mart and got a coffee and an individual serving of Fig Newtons.

kcalcount87 01-15-2010 03:13 AM

I said no to waffle fries (YUM!) at chick-fil-a... Got the grilled chicken sandwich (380 calories) and a coke zero. :-)

Also, I said no to cookies and other delicious treats at a graduate school info session.

LovebirdsFlying 01-15-2010 04:52 AM

I turned down a glass of (premixed and sold by the gallon) chocolate milk my husband offered to pour for me. Then had a cup of sugar-free hot cocoa later.

Lil Judy 01-15-2010 06:51 AM

Donuts. I just said "no" to birthday donuts yesterday. And I am glad I did!

Thursday nights are 7 dollar burger nights at this great little fancy resturaunt in our town. We went, my guy friend loves the burgers instead of getting an 8oz serloin fatty burger with fries and sauted mushrooms and carmelized onions, i paid a little more money and got the salmon with letus and tomato and only ate a 1/4 of the fries. I even left the other fries on my plate and diddnt touch them the rest of the dinner.. THAT NEVER HAPPENS! im feeling pretty good.

whoIwannabe 01-15-2010 09:52 AM

I said NO to homemade cupcakes!!! I am so proud of myself!:carrot:

MapleLeaf 01-15-2010 09:57 AM

I'm so proud of everyone in here. I love coming back and reading your stories.

This morning I said no to an egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant.

Aclai4067 01-15-2010 07:30 PM

Trader Joe's chocolate covered carmels. I love the school I worked at today but they always have junk food galore!

Skullarix 01-15-2010 07:38 PM

Well fate played a hand for me but...
My room mate planned to drag me to Toms BBQ truck for lunch, and sulking, I went but the truck wasnt there... happy day! There really isn't anything where we work so we went to Waffle House, and I turned down the burger, frys and diet coke for a salad and water! Go us!

arc1201 01-15-2010 07:54 PM

A brownie my boss bought just for me... ok i took it, but i gave it to my hubby.

DogMomNP 01-16-2010 06:06 PM

Yesterday hubby was on his last day of fat loading (pre diet) and was going to go to Dairy Queen. That would have been rough for me to say no to: thankfully they were closed for repairs!!

So he went do D&D and got a donut, I was ok refusing that b/c it was late and I figured they were all stale anyway. :)

fruitlady 01-16-2010 10:08 PM

I had a little Natural Peanut Butter and a little marshmellow creme instead of alot of it ! That's not normal for me since it is my favorite binge food. It could have been a disaster if I would not have talked myself out of it.

LovebirdsFlying 01-17-2010 03:27 AM

We went out for lunch today. Not only did I stick to my no-starch program--a steak and a salad--and pass up the free included dessert bar, but hubby kept offering me this and that off his own plate, and I said no.
