What is your guilty pleasure?
It may sound odd, but Diet Dr. Pepper, the drink I absolutely love! It is my worst trigger and blows my diet every time! I think the fake sugar carbs in it may make me crave real sugar and eventually I eat chocolate, cake, doughnuts, etc.

How could you lighten it up?
I can't. I've tried limiting it. It's the one thing I absolutely must avoid.

Have you made an action plan to avoid this food/place?
Yes, I don't buy it, period. I drink water now instead, and when I want something different, I drink hot green tea.

If you don't avoid it, how do you control yourself?
I have to avoid it.

Fresh bagels and triscuits. Once I start I can't stop. Sometimes all I will eat all day is a box of triscuits. Like crack to a crackhead. the bagels are another story. they usually send me into a week-long tailspin.

I have so many emotional triggers with food

Stress-- Like when DH works night I dont like being home alone so I binge to ease my nerves but also any other kind of fear/stress will do it to me too.

Social-- Its like if were getting together we need to revolve it around food and the better the food the better the fun ??? WHY!?

Tooo many to list.

Like a PP I have cravings of both sweet and salty and fatty. Cheese Fries with ranch dressing is my go to comfort food but since I live so far away from the place that has them I will settle on pizza.
I could seriously eat OUtback Steakhouse cheese fries, ranch, bread, and the chicken quesidilla every single day. And if I had to pick a different item that day it would be pizza.

My guilty pleasure that I allow myself to have even when Im on track is the occassional PEPSI. The more I deny myself the more I want it.

As far as lighting things up I have no idea thats whY I cant get these darn pounds off!

What food ISN'T a trigger is the question for me. I love so many foods, and I simply cannot eat them in moderation! I desperately wish I could just eat one piece of bread or one bowl of pasta or one cookie or one small piece of cake or a small bit of anything, but I just can't! For some reason my body thinks that if a little bit is good, a lot would be even better! It's never true! I feel sick and I gain weight. I hate it! If I don't completely cut out all food that I like, I'll fail. Which sucks, because then I hate eating.

Any suggestions for learning to eat "unhealthy" things in moderation?

I can't read this topic. I want every thing written in here! I'm food-aholic!
Any bad carbs will do it for me, even healthy bread ! It's a no for me !

I think I the only choice that I have is not to eat bad carbs all my life ! I can't go there any more. When I start dieting again after a binge, the cravings are so strong that they are really physical. Once I had wake up in the middle of the night and felt that if I don't eat I'm going to die. I never woke up at night to eat in my hole adult life. I was so angry at myself. I drank a can of tomato juice, no sugar, low salt and then i fell asleep again... I manage it, but I don't want to feel like that ever in my life.
My luck is that i discovered an appetite suppressant that really works for me. A couple of days on it, and i will eat healthy again unlimited... until next time...

There are many guilty pleasures!

What is your guilty pleasure?
1. Getting hit with a fast food craving

How could you lighten it up?
1. Order the kids meal

Have you made an action plan to avoid this food/place?
1. No because avoiding it makes it worse. Better to get the small order of fries now to satisfy the craving than think about it all week and end up downing 2 large boxes!

If you don't avoid it, how do you control yourself?
1. Make sure I go light on the other meals that day so that the calorie count doesn't go over.

The others are ice cream and chocolate.
I get ill from eating dairy so I don't allow myself to buy lactaid. lol
The chocolate...I usually just go for it. Same concept as the fast food. Small piece now or massive choco binge later...it's better to get the craving over with.

there are 3 restaurants in town I can never say "no" to: a Monoglian place, a Japanese place, and Panera Bread. luckily, the first two are pretty pricy, and the third one is usually chock-full of people, so I hardly ever go there, but when I do, I pig out.

I've been trying to slowly choose healthier options whenever I do go to these places. for example, replacing meats with tofu, or opting out of the noodles (or significantly reducing the portion), and choosing a salad over a sandwich at Panera Bread.

oh, and water-- water no matter what. soda's my other trigger-- once I start drinking it, my entire diet goes downhill. so I usually keep two gallons of water in my bedroom and drink those when i feel hungry.

What is your guilty pleasure?
1) sweet: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
2) salty: Mexican food
3) red wine

How could you lighten it up?
1) Blend up a homemade Nutri-System shake with 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 vanilla (mix the two powders) 1/2 banana, 1/2 Tbs Peanut Butter, 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt and 1/2 cup skim milk and lots of ice cubes. This fills me up, has lots of protein and is also a wonderful treat.

2) Instead of mex food in the evening, I make a b'fast burrito with sauteed onion, red pepper and spinach, scramble one egg and wrap in a trimmed or small flour tortilla (whole wheat). Top with warmed salsa and a bit of plain NF yogurt for the 'sour cream-y' texture.

3) Wine is a trigger for eating larger portions and I know it stalls my weight loss. A substitute, though not as satisfying, is low sodium V-8 juice over ice with black pepper added.

Have you made an action plan to avoid this food/place?
Find suitable options that are still very satisfying.

If you don't avoid it, how do you control yourself?
I measure 5 oz of wine in a glass and sip slowly! I also build it into my calories for the day and ensure I have a glass of water on hand as well.

My triggers are those little Famous Amos cookies (especially the chocolate chip ones), Ruffles Original potato chips (can finish off a bag of these easily), McDonald's french fries, creamy pasta dishes. . .oh, I could go on and on.

What is your guilty pleasure? Chocolate. but I try and remain sensible, I do have my daily chocolate bar but try and keep everything else healthly and make sure I get in enough exercise. I do LOVE dessert apple crumble and ice cream and chocolate cake nom nom! I ALWAYS have a dessert when I go out for dinner!

How could you lighten it up? When im out I try and get someone reluctant to have a dessert to share one with me, or just try and eat half of it!

Have you made an action plan to avoid this food/place? I dont ban anything, that doesnt work for me, for many years I practically starved myself. Im trying to teach myself to enjoy my food again and savor every mouthfull. I never deprive myself of anything, if I want it I have it, just a smaller amount If I manage to leave something on my plate its an achievement!

If you don't avoid it, how do you control yourself? I try and remember that im a little tiny lady and dont need a man size portion! Plus a lady always leaves something on her plate :P
