Well for some of us on this forum, wine and alcholol seems to be a common theme and a real hinderance for reaching our weight loss goals.
So for me I wanted to start a thread that makes me accountable and document my days without my nemisis -- wine
Sunday night was my first night without any alcholol in a long long time. I survived and am even pround of myself when I poured the last of a bottle out Sunday morning.
I am hoping other will join me and take it one week at a time..for me that is the way I have to do it, one day, one week, one month at a time. I have told myself when I have reached my mini goal of 10lbs gone I will treat myself to dinner out with wine. (I am not going to bring it in the house, that just encourges me to buy more)
I hope ohers will join me, if not well I am posting and want all of you to hold me accountable and kick my butt if I slip LOL
This is EXACTLY what I need. I'm an angel when there is no wine in the house!! I'm in. I made a promise to myself on Saturday that I can do 3 glasses of wine a week for the next three weeks as long as I've exercised the day(s) i decide to drink. That is my challenge. I'll confess here if I slip up!
I'd definitely like to join in! I typically don't drink during the week and then throw caution to the wind on the weekends. This has got to stop if I ever want to reach my fitness goals!
This could have been written by me! Good luck and I will follow with you if you.
Hi
I am new to this. Just started today and this is my first post so I hope I am doing this correctly. I also have a problem with enjoying wine a bit too much and it hinders my weight loss for sure. I was going to start Sept 2 but tomorrow sounds great!! As you said, one day at a time.
Well chicks we are so on a roll! Welcome all that join
But I must confess I have not had any wine since Saturday night --whoo hoo and yeah for me, I really am proud of myself. The problem now is, I am not sleeping! I used wine to relax me and off to la la land I would go, now here it is on my third night and I am so exhausted but I will not give in. I am determined to go until Halloween with no wine then only for a treat. I hope this is just temporary as I wine and wine and wine LOL
OK chicks me again, another day down and another day with no wine! How are you all doing?
Last night I was in bed at 9:30pm and wouldn't you know it at finally I started to doze off and on around midnight and the phone rings at 1am! One of my daughters girlfriends--had she been standing there I might have shot her LOL I have a 5am wake up call. Anyway did not have any wine and thankfully my husband is sticking to his promise not to bring any in the house.
I'm doing great! No wine since saturday. Half bottle on counter was calling my name last night but i resisted! Worked out, had a light dinner and slept like a rock. Next few days will be full of some temptation - dinner with friends tonight and a celebration dinner for husband on friday for a promotion.
You can hold out jmm33! I know you can, if you could leave that bottle alone on the counter you can do anything. Just a thought if you usually have a drink when out to dinner try something non-alcoholoic that you would never ordinarily try. For me that would be one of those wierd flavored lemon-aids or tea's. or a non alchoholic beer? ...
hmm the more I think about that the more I am going YUK would rather have water lol
dangerous and today hope you both are doing alright looking forward to hearing about your days
Great Job jmm33! Lemon water and grilled prawns with veggies wow some of my favorite.
You know this is my day 5 without wine and I am feeling good. The first few night I had a bit of trouble falling asleep, but last night I slept like a normal person (I think) woke a few times but that is ok. And today I am still feeling good, eating normal portions and actually getting excited to weigh in on Sunday morning
well, i jumped on the scale this morning and i was three pounds down from last time i weighed which was about two weeks ago. i am going to try to stick to only once a week - monday mornings - as scale time.
how bout popping a child's dose of benadryll to get a good night's rest?
I've been POP and alcohol free since Monday. It's really hard. I enjoy a cocktail while making dinner (I cook every night) and I really, really like my wine! I can easily polish off a bottle in one evening without ill effects (except for scale related ill effects!).
Since Monday, I've been eating on plan, not drinking, going to the gym daily. I've lost 2 pounds! Friday will be the challenge. DH and I always go out to lunch on Fridays and I usually have a glass (or two) of wine. Tomorrow will be the first lunch in MONTHS where I will not order any wine or other alcohol. Friday night we're going out to watch a friend perform with his band at a bar. This will be another challenge (although I read on the news that there will be a DUI checkpoint that night in our city, so I'll volunteer to be designated driver!). The weekend will also be a challenge as I usually have beer with lunch. Not this weekend. This I vow!!
Crystal Light pink lemonade has been my "cocktail" this week. I'm running low and will pick some more up. This will have to get me through until I get off these 10 or so pounds that I've managed to accumulate the past two years.
allinnel believe me we have all been in that boat! It is so hard to get out of the 'habit' of having that wine or drink at certian times or situations. Like you I could polish off a bottle and a bit more at times with no ill effects except for the weight gain.
An alternative when you go out is a non alcoholic beer? I have never tried one though maybe ask the bartender for something new just dont add the alcohol? see what they come up with..
Like you I have a challenging weekend ahead of me but I know if I get through this one the next will be easier. I am betting you make it
I'm not really crazy about non-alcoholic beer. Friday night I'll settle for club soda or at the least a diet soda. Thankfully the gig doesn't start until 9 PM (although we may go earlier to hear other bands) and DH and I aren't the "stay out late" type. I imagine we'll only be there until 11 PM, so the temptation won't be hours long!
