Talking I Overcame The Temptation!!

Well, I'm new to this site! Hello ladies!! I've battled my weight all my life...literally, I was the cute chubby little girl, growing into the fat girl in school. I've always had horrific self esteem, etc, etc. I've been on and off diets starting around 5th grade. I love to eat, I go through bingeing periods and hate myself more than ever.
Recently I've started over....again. Just trying to get healthy. I've been doing pretty darn good so far, doing small things - walking on breaks at work & exercising at home, cutting down on the bad crap & trying to eat healthy. I've lost 10 pounds so far. I have about another 50 to go.
But I have a huge problem with giving into my temptations. I LOVE the chocolate...I could seriously die from an overdose at times I think. So I completely amazed myself yesterday when I didn't give in.
I was at my parents house with my daughter. My daughter wanted some cookies...Oreos (oh yeah...mmm..) There have been times when I sat down with a bag of Oreos and milk and ate the heck out of the whole thing. I wanted them soo bad. I went back and forth in my head over and over again, til finally I thought, nope, not worth it. And that was it. I seriously didn't eat a single one!!!!!!!
I would love to hear some of your stories about that one food you think you can't live without; but you defeat the urge! Its actually quite empowering & I just feel so much better that i could tell myself no!!
Sorry for the ramble!!!!

Congratulations and welcome !!!!!!

Good for you resisting the oreos !! It is a VERY empowering feeling and try to remember that when the next temptation comes up.

Congrats on the weight loss - sounds like you have a wonderful attitude and I am sure the ladies on here will help you when you need it !!

Im presently sitting in front of the computer, resisting the urge to go buy and eat a whole bag of Lays rippled regular chip with some jalapeno's dip.... I made myself a smoothie (strawberries, grapes, rasberries, apple juice). Hoping to resist my temptation until it passes!

Well Jade, I used to eat chocolate ALL of the time and I remember from a young age saying to my mum 'I feel rubbish, where's the chocolate?'

Nowadays I probably go about 4 months a time without touching the stuff, and when I do it's only a small bar and it's heavenly! Its something you need to realize you can cope without and after you realize this, you wont crave it and probably wont even miss it. I know I dont! Everything (bar fast food i say) is okay in moderation Best of luck, and congrats on the ten pounds, a job well done!

Job well done on avoiding a HUGE temptation!

For myself, it'd be avoiding eating pizza almost every Thursday. I hang out with friends Thursday evenings, and they order out almost every single time. I bring my dinner with me. Usually like a sub or something. Sure, it makes me strange, but by doing that I've been able to avoid the pizza each time.

Thumbs up

Jade -

Way to go on resisting that urge!
Did you know that they make little 100 calorie bags of oreos? Maybe you could have one of those with a little one-cup size carton of milk as a treat some time
Hmm...resisting temptation...well, I learned the hard way that I can binge on almost anything when the urge hits. So for me, I'm proud to say that this month, I've only had 3 binge days, and I'm keeping it that way!

Way to go, Jade!
Last night I battled with fresh homemade brownies my mom. I ended up taking one small bite (it really was small, too....wasn't even 1" x 1"), then hubby ate the rest (he doesn't have a weight problem). Afterward I didn't feel like I was being deprived, but I didn't feel guilty either.

I just started my weightloss program last Wednesday afternoon. I'd had it with being so overweight, and I didn't want to wait until the first of the week, or even the beginning of the next day...I just decided to jump in where I was. And so far I've lost 4 pounds.

Good job!!! It does feel good. Friday night, after a fun night out at the bar with my friends (where I only had 2 drinks---amaretto sours are my weakness!) we went to a restraunt. Usually after drinking everyone wants greasy, fried foods and big sodas. Everyone else ordered that way. I ordered a bowl of fresh melons and ate a protein bar I had in my purse. I probably had 200 cals total, and looking at all that fried food actually made me feel gross! That was a pretty huge feat for me not to order a big burger with some fries. I was happy!

Oh thanks girls!! The support here really is amazing!! Yesterday was a toughie for me as well! Mothers Day...we went to my parents house & had the whole family there (including grandma's amazing desserts!) but I think i did really good! My dad made me a piece of salmon on the grill instead of the cheeseburgers everyone else was having so that was great!! I did indulge in the dessert but not nearly as much as I would normally have had, so overall, it was ok! Thanks again for your support!!!!!!

Pizza is a huge weakness for me. The family loves it and we were getting it once a week. I actually am cooking healthier meals now so I guess this weight loss journey will not benefit only me but my family as well.
