I need a kick in the butt. I went out to dinner tonite with DH for our belated anniversary. We went to the Outback. I had steak, salad and a sweet potato. Then, he ordered cheesecake, and I ate half of it. Knowing that this is terrible time for me to cheat at all, especially when I can't exercise due to my ankle. I feel so bad about it. I am probably going to be back in losing mode now, instead of maintenance. Why did I do this? I had just posted earlier about the 2 splenda cookies that I ate yesterday. I started a new page tonite, to journal my food on. I have to get my butt back in gear. I know that part of my problem is that I haven't been able to go grocery shopping due to my ankle. Plus part of it is, I ate it because I wanted it. I desperately don't want to regain my weight, so I am going to try to do better.

Well, I weighed this morning. My butt is back in gear. I am again journaling every single carb. Cheese omelet only this AM with coffee. I'm now on my third glass of water. I know I am retaining fluid. Plus no BM in several days now. Scales are up 4 lbs. I am not willing to gain more weight, so I have made the decision to crack down. If it's not low-carb, it won't pass my lips. Not being able to exercise is very frustrating and makes it even harder to take those extra lbs. off quickly. I'm sure this isn't all water weight, but some of it is the extra junk that I've eaten the last couple of days. I feel totally fat and bloated and I hate feeling like this. My intentions were to get back on program for a few days and then weigh. Now, I am glad that I did weigh, so even though it was bad, at least I know to get serious and quit my screwing up. I am going to wait 3 days to change my ticker. See is some of it is just water or if with proper eating it might correct itself. I had figured the scale would be up 2 lbs. but sure didn't expect 4.

I don't think I've ever posted under this thread. But...here goes!

Its been a hectic couple of weeks. Aug 4, was my birthday and I turned 45! My Dad had open heart surgery the same day...triple bypass. Bless his heart, at 76 years old, he came through it with flying colors! He came home from the hospital on Aug 9. He looks wonderful and is doing just great!

As for my weight loss, I'm down I've been adding a few things and it seems to be helping. I am going to Pittsburgh the beginning of Sept to see dbf and hope to be at goal by then!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Kim

Lily, what do you usually do for the constipation that accomanies low carb eating? That's one reason I don't do it because I even normally have trouble with that.

I'm not Lily, but I find that the sugar-free Metamucil powder dissolved in a great big glass of water is a great help. It actually tastes good to me.

Kim, a belated Happy Birthday! And I'm so glad your dad made it through his surgery so well.

carol, My doctor has me on 3 Colace a day, 60 ml. of Milk of Mag a day and 15 ml. of Lactulose. Even with all this, I still have problems. Mine is more a situation of repeated bowel adhesions, last surgery was 3 months ago. I am not up for surgery again at this time, especially with the torn up ankle. I have been referred to a surgeon again, but am trying to put it off as long as possible.

I am happy to report that some of my gain was the bathroom problem and retaining fluid. The scale is back down 2 lbs. from yesterday. Yeah. I had a total of 17 carbs yesterday and am back on track for sure.

I have to hobble around today and take my DD to get school supplies and more clothes plus grocery shop. I am sure my ankle will be grossly swollen by the time I get home. The swelling has been terrible with any walking.

On a happy note, my DS flew in last night from Camp Cook. They spent the first night in their new apartment. We spent all day yesterday moving them in and getting it set up. Even though he got home at 10PM, he had to be at Army Drill at 5AM this morning. I know he is exhausted and has to be back on his job tonite at 6PM when he gets home from drill. I am leaving soon to pick her up and take her grocery shopping, they have no food yet in the apartment. She is without a vehicle today, he drove his Jeep to drill and the only other thing they have is a motorcycle. They are going to buy her a car this week.

When you said you were up 4 lb was that 149? I know your goal weight was 145 and I think 4lb is an average fluctuation in any given day. At least my weight does that. I have just discovered soy milk recently which has 4gm fiber and 9gm protein if you get Westsoy organic nonsweetened. I think it has a really low carb count. Then you can add flavoring of your choice like peaches or strawberries and artificial sweetner if you like. Makes great smoothies or you can add low carb chocolate syrup.

Carol, I had been maintaining at 141 and the 4 lb. gain, put me at 145 which was my goal. I have lost 2 of it and am back down to 143. I was lax and I admit it. I hadn't journaled my food in a few days. I am writing it all down again. For me, journaling it is a MUST. I went and restocked all my healthy foods today. I am drinking my water again. I can't exercise due to my ankle, but hopefully starting the PT tomorrow will help. My ankle was terribly swollen and hurting after the grocery shopping, but I had to do it to get back on program. I had 17 carbs yesterday and 14 today,so I'm back like I should be. I learned quickly that with no exercise, every bite counts. No more cheats for me. I worked too hard to lose this weight and I absolutely refuse to let it come back.

Thanks, both of you. I am trying to stay in good spirits. i have a lifetime of being over-weight, so I am more determined than ever to keep this weight off.
Annie, you can do it too. you aren't far from where I started at and it can definitely be done. I personally think low-carb is the way to go. It worked better for me than anything else ever has.
Tipsy, you have done fantastic. We have very similar stats. Yeah!
