Weekly Chat March 6 - 12/06
Good Morning :)
Had a really nice weekend, mom came for a couple days. She got destressed, and well rested, then spent a small fortune on shoes  always a great way to beat stress. Back to it this morning....have a great day ladies |
Robin: Sounds like a great weekend!!
Well, I went to the bridal shower on Saturday and ICK! I won't mention what I ate. Decided (with DH) to do a slight version of the "fat fast". Mainly eating eggs, but adding a small amount of onions for flavor  Also eating some chicken salad. Discovered it's actually not bad!! I figure if I can keep myself on THIS for 3-5 days..I should be able to keep myself OP. 1 day down. Time to get my MIND on program!! |
Mornin' Girls!
Well back to the gym today. After the kids get done with breakfast and lessons, we'll head out. I plan on 3 miles today. We'll see... I am hating that digital scale. It has thrown me off as to my real weight. Was I a few pounds heavier when I started, or have I not lost what I think I have. The non-digital is the one I began with, but the digital is about 2.5 pounds more. :?: *sigh* I give up on that damn thing. I should have a long time ago LOL Robin- Sounds like an enjoyable weekend you had. Shoes have never been my vice, but I have a feeling it's my daughters. She told her father one day, that she was going to be like Emelda Marcos! LMAO! She's only 12 for crying out loud. Brenda - I hear ya on the mini fat fast. I might do that for a few days this week to really get kicked into gear. I think I might have stalled again, but not sure. I'll give it a few days before I decide. Have a lovely day guys. It's gonna be a high of 70 here. :) |
Falon--my mom had the same problem. But hers was 10 pounds different. She took it back and now her new one is LOWER than her regular scale...so she kept it  When we got a digital it matched our regular one. Good luck w/the scale situation!
So far so good. I've gotten exercise (blasted snow!!) and am doing ok with the fast. Forgot to eat lunch and started to understand WHY I've got to eat. Went and got some more canned chicken (maybe should just make UP a chicken breast and shred it?) plus a can of macadamia nuts. I need something right now that crunches. Did I mention TOM is coming this week?? One way to make sure to stay OP and not cheat during it  Don't want to waste the effort. |
Hi guys!! Just wanted to drop in and see how everyone was doing, I'll write more later, busy busy!!
Lacey |
hey all. thought i would pop in and say hi. i haven't been around in awhile and wanted to let you all know i'm still around. i have been studying hard and spending lots of time at the shop working on my apprenticeship (cosmetology). i haven't been doing real good eating or exercise wise. i am getting my water in though. need to work harder on things and getting it all balanced. it's slowly coming around, just taking time and not happening overnight. :) hope you all are doing good and staying op. i'll be back to check in when i can.
|
Hi :)
Just wanted to post real quick... I sucessfully finished my first week of induction & was OP the entire time, which I feel really good about! :carrot: I always have "cheated" on diets. For the most part, this has been easier than I thought (not easy, just easier! ) I'm on day 10 of induction & am hopeful I will finish the week strong. I have a baby shower this Saturday, which means CAKE, so I am sure that will difficult... We bought an elliptical machine about a week ago & it was delivered & set up this last Saturday -- no excuses not to exercise now!! Robin - sounds like you had a fabulous weekend :D Lady Adnerb - Good luck :) Falon - forget the scale!! (I know, much easier said than done!). It's a mantra I am trying to live by myself. I weigh myself constantly & I'm trying really hard to stick to weighing myself only once a week. It's hard, but the scale (especially electronic!) plays too many mind games with me otherwise. |
It was great :) Mom, loves shoes. Ive never been a shoe person, simply because I have size 10 feet, and when they are that big, they look like Im wearing shoe boxes....so that was never fun. BUT I found heaps of nightgowns, new shirts, awesome makeup and a lands end fleece housecoat for $19.99!!! I made up for mom's shoe deals  Lots of great deals right now, if you have the time to look!
|
Robin, I have size 10 feet too, but I have a closet full of shoes. I have 10 pairs of just black shoes. My DH doesn't understand at all. I have about 10 pairs of sandals too.
Falon, I spent the money and bought the same scale you see in your doctor's office. I keep it in the basement and threaten my DH within an inch of his life if he adjusts my settings. I figure as long as I'm using the same one set the same every week, it should be good. Brenda, I have deviled eggs, macademia nuts, and chicken salad - time for the 3 day fat fast for me too! I want to see what happens. My weekend was nuts. We spent the whole day on Saturday cleaning and then had the Oscar party on Sunday night. I ate too much fruit -- but it was strawberries so not too bad. |

|
Should have not bought the nuts. It's like they're "free" food. ARGH! Well, didn't do TOO badly. Just need to make sure not to go nut-wild. Got my water in wahoo!! :cb:
|
Falon, I bought mine through a drugstore in Arizona. You might have to go to a Mom & Pop drugstore if any of those exist. It was something like $199.
|
Coffee is on. come on over and have a cup.
Suposed to get a bit warmer here soon. I am hoping. I can not wait until the spring just about what 14 or is 13 more days, then he weather I know will start to turn. I am tired of going out to the car and having to scrape the inside as well as the outside. (I have too much body heat I steam up the inside lately) |
 hi everyone!
Just doing a quick hello. Everything is going well. Scale was NICE this morning but not going to make a ticker til Saturday (official WI day) and hopefully TOM doesn't screw things up. Well, off I go to start the day :) |
Morning ladies!
Susan - thanks for the info. I'll let Andy know, and see if we can't hunt one of those bad boys down. This morning i'll make it to the gym early enough to weigh myself on their scale, so we'll see. Sue - I'm going to guess the scale shocker wasn't as bad as you anticipated? <grins> Congrats! Brenda - I am so happy about your scale move. TOM sure can mess it all up, but leaves us surprises when he's gone. This month, after mine, I got on the scale and was down 3 and it kept me from getting on that damn thing during the week. :dizzy: Well, I got my 4 miles in yesterday, and feeling good. I seem to be in a bit of a stall, and I think it's from the walking. It's going to whoosh soon.. it has too. I can't be walking 4 miles a day, and not loose anything. Besides, I have been very strict on high carb / fat and really low carb (yes, measuring everything now, so i'm keeping good track) and i'm in ketosis, so eventually....:D My mother informed me i'm loosing a lot of weight, and my butt is getting shapely :o Strange to hear that from my mum, but i'll take it. LOL Well, I better get off of here, have some breakfast, and head out. I hope you all have a lovely day, and i'll check in later. |
Morning :coffee: Thanks for the coffee Sue :)
Susan~ Shoes are so much nicer now than when I was growing up...so because I never got to try new shoes all the time I never got into it. My daughter loves to shoe shop. She alot of fun to shop with  She helps ole mom pretty good with shoes too....she finds the pretty ones for me  Dh and I went to the home and garden show last night....not at all what I was expecting. Any garden stuff, was just landscaping :( I was expecting to see plants showcased and garden ornamentals. Oh well. We did pick up one of those stove top grills that uses water in the resevoir. I'll give it a try tonight. Everything he cooked on it seems really tastey. We also got some quotes for garage doors from "garage door" ppl that were $100- $150 less than home depot or lowes!!! So we have some fellas coming today to give us a quote. So if its as good as we think, we saved heaps by paying the $20 admittance fee to the show! Eating still isnt quite right, but Im getting back. Its not really all that bad, just not quite right. If cramps arent too bad today, I'll head over to the gym. Been walking with dh at the mall, but I havent been to the gym since he ticked me off last week  Have a great day ladies |
Good morning, all :)
This week is going pretty well. I'm enjoying the elliptical machine. It's definitely a tough workout! I can only do about 13-15 minutes now, but my long-term goal is to get to 45 minutes, 4x per week. Hope everyone has a fabulous, OP day! :D |
Afternoon everyone!
Falon - better it's your Mom checking out your butt than some strange guy on the street. We were driving to church on Sunday when DH asked me why women wear clothes with words on the butt. I asked him why he was looking at the butt of the jogger on the sidewalk next to us and he started getting all defensive -- it was funny. I was just yanking his chain. It's 65 degrees right now and we are supposed to have 5" of snow by the time I leave work tomorrow afternoon -- what gives? I hate snow. And cold weather. I want to move back to Arizona. When I got home last night, DH had dinner on the table. He cooked a roast and steamed some broccoli and cauliflower. Yum! Not only that, but the garbage was out at the curb, the patio had been swept, bed made, my nightgown was laid out nicely, bathrooms cleaned -- I could get spoiled by this. He even took my dinner order for tonight - grilled chicken and asparagus. |
I just LOVE coming here and reading what everyone says. I get distracted!! You all are SUCH great inspirations it's UNBELIEVABLE!!! You all need to pat yourselves on the back for doing so wonderfully, staying OP and jumping on the wagon (and not giving up) when slipping. AWESOME LADIES!!!!! Thank you ALL for your support through all this! It's VERY much appreciated!!

Kayla I started out with 5 min on the eliptical I am workedup to a very hard 30 - 45 min and burn any where from 400 to 600 cals depending on the time and resistance. go slow and watch the heart rate, the eliptical is one of the heardest cardio machines available. I still find my legs sore from the effort 6 days a week. Susan did you say your sister Sue was going to visit and maybe stay with you for a few weeks?? :D ;) Mine is still in the dog house and will be there for a while. Brenda this is the only place that I have had any success losing weight. and it is because all the wonderful gals here. like you said such inspiration, and it does help I find giving the support. we are nuturues by fate and helping others we help ourselves. I agree with you the women here are wonderful!! |
I have to agree....Susan sounds like she has the PERFECT husband!!! Then againI could learn lessons from him on house cleaning I'm sure
Falon:  Sue: You are doing such an AWESOME job!! WTG on the weight loss and keep up the awesome work!!! For some reason I'm tired this morning. Well, I know why. The MANY trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night and the excess energy that wouldn't allow me to sleep. Tis the price for eating right and losing weight. I'LL TAKE IT!!! Been OP and getting my water intake in :carrot: Now to finish off this fat fast (in a couple days?) and then eat "portion control" suppers. HOPEFULLY I can get into the hang of that and lose more weight. Well, time to get my day started. hi everyone!!! |
Ok what is fat fast, someone please explain. cause I need something to jump start me. I am starting over again. i think i had caught a 24 hour bug from someone at work (I work in a call center) and messed up with some soup and crackers, but feel better and I just want a jump start or something, but every one is talking about fat fast and I am very curious.

Morning Ladies -
I'm up early, and fixing to hit the gym and do my 4. Moose (my little guys nickname) is sick, and had a fever last night. So he got in my bed this morning, and I want to get back for when he gets up. Actually I went early yesterday, and noticed that I was able to walk it with better ease, as I wasn't tired like in the afternoon. I might need to get into the habit of early... Brenda - When you get back on track for a while, it'll all even out. I know where you're coming from though.. it can be frustrating. Sue - That really is a great whoosh! I am still waiting for mine, and not to sure why it hasn't moved. I checked this morning; nothing. Oh well.. it'll happen. I'll check in later... I better get going. Hugs to every single one of you, and I hope ya'll have a great day. Susan's right, we are expecting snow today, so I want to be home the rest of the time to snuggle with the kiddos.   |
Yeah, what's a "fat fast"?
Today is day one for me... so far, I've had a cup of coffee. I'll call that progress! Now, I have to go find an Atkin's-allowed breakfast. I didn't buy anything for breakfast when I stocked the pantry and fridge so I may be headed to the store... |
Sue, yes the elliptical is definitely a difficult workout! The good thing is that ours has a heart rate sensor & will give a target HR based on age & weight. So, I try really hard to stay in the range.
Lafayette, one think I've discovered about Atkins is that I don't really have to buy breakfast foods anymore... I typically just eat leftovers or scramble some eggs. I figure as long as it is on the list, it's good. :) Today is going pretty well... OP so far. I managed to work out again last night, but am taking tonight off, I think. I'm also thinking of moving my workout to the morning. I have such a hard time falling asleep after working out (I typically don't get on until 9:00pm or so). Hope everyone has a great day! :D |

Hi girls. I've been busy, my mom came for the weekend, and just went home. I tried to stay on track, but I did have a couple of little deviations.
Fat fast is described in the Atkins book it is a very low calorie diet done for a couple of days and is where you primarily eat fat for food. Cream cheese that sort of thing. I think you keep calories to 1000 or less. It is meant to jump start your weight loss for someone who seems to be resistant to induction. Anyway I have to tell you what is happening across the street from me. It is outrageous. There is this truck that says "get fit" on the side of it. It has a mini gym inside of it, and this personal trainer comes here a couple of times a week and helps a girl across the street to work out. He's out there calling instructions to her, "one more minute" things like that. He has her do some sort of concentrated work out. He has part of his gym that he puts in the street and she will sit on a bench while he throws a medicine ball to her and she throws it back, I saw him have her kick some padded thing while he held it. She has a place where she hangs by her arms above her head and attempts to lift her legs up toward her belly. She has this straight up and down ladder climbing type of thing that she moves her arms and legs up and down as though she were climbing. It is all kind of fascinating. Especially the business part of it, the "bring the gym to you" approach. The truck has mirrors all around it. I had to film it. or at least part of what was going on. It was just too funny. Amazing that someone could be such an entrepeneur.... |
Sandra & LaFayette: What is the Fat Fast?
WARNING: This method will not help you lose weight fast! Only try this if you are metabolically resistant. The Fat Fast diet is structured especially for metabolically resistant people. It's designed to push your metabolism into ketosis. You will eat a 1000-calorie a day, 90% fat diet by dividing the food into small portions and eating them at different times of the day. Try dividing 1000 calories into five 200-calorie portions. SUGGESTIONS FOR 200-CALORIE PORTIONS ARE: 2 oz of sour cream, containing 1 tbs. of caviar, served on 3-4 pork rinds. 2 deviled egg halves, served not in the whites, but on pork rinds. Graham Newbould's Pate for Royalty (2 oz.) served on the soya bread. 2 oz of chicken salad made with triple the usual amount of mayo (of ham salad, egg salad, shrimp salad.) 1 oz of the above in a half avocado 1 oz of macadamia nuts (or walnuts, or other nuts that fit the 90% fat criteria. 2.5 oz of whipped heavy cream, artificially sweetened, with ground vanilla beans 2 oz of cream cheese Remember, you are not trying to eat a gourmet meal plan, but are trying to push yourself into ketosis. Kayla & Robin & Sherry  |
Dare I mention the egg thing? LOL It works for me every time (three times now) throws the 'ol body RIGHT into ketosis ;)
Got my excercise routine back on track with my 3 miles a day and MAYBE just MAYBE I'll reach my St.Paddy's goal *fingers crossed*! If I can just stay away from the alcohol then I'll do awesome! I tried on about 7 dresses yesterday at Ross and am still just completely beside myself that MY BODY fits into a size 12. The very weird thing is that the smaller I am getting the fatter I feel. This is too strange. Happen to anyone else? |
I have done the fat fast several times. My average is 8 lbs lost in the 3 days. But it's not easy to eat that stuff all day long.
Sherry, I love the bring the trainer to the neighborhood thing. That's certainly a different idea. I'm not sure I'd want to work out on the street though. Brenda, that's interesting that your fat fast is different from the one I have in my book. My book says to eat the deviled eggs in the whites. It also calls for the heavy cream with sugar free maple syrup. It also has a chicken liver pate listed. Brie cheese is also an option on mine. I have an older book from about 5 years ago. Sue, it wasn't me with the sister coming to visit. I don't have one. My DH learned his cleaning skills after 14 years in the Army. He can clean the kitchen floor so well you'd be willing to eat off it. It's making him do it that is often the struggle. I think he's feeling a little guilty right now because he isn't working and I'm bringing in all the income. We'll see how long it lasts. Last night I got oven "fried" chicken (chicken breasts dipped in water and rolled in Parmesan cheese and sprayed with cooking oil and broiled) and asparagus. He's running a long list of errands for me today -- he got my car tires rotated, my prescriptions filled, took the cat to the vet, returned our extra kitchen tiles to Home Depot, etc. I'm liking this a lot! |
:lol:I am the sister to come and be pampered by your DH !
Just let me know when to be there!1 I will work. Do you rent him out??? |
Well I made it through day one and didnt have any diet sodas at all. I think I am having some serious carb withdraws. I am really tired and I cant wait till I hit ketosis cause this is for the birds. I want my energy back.
Well yesterday we found out that a friend that me and my brother had grown up with and still talk to is going to be charged with rape. I just cant believe it. But I can say even after all the stress and crying I still didnt cheat. Oh I forgot to mention that my interview last friday went very well and I talked to the lady who works in HR and she said that we will be moving foward, so I am not sure if that is a unconventional way of saying that I got the job or not, but that I should officially know by this week. Ok I have got to get ready for work. Have a great day ladies and be safe and stay on track. -Sandra P.S. Where do I get my own little ticker for my weightloss? |
|
Ha I got it to work! yay
|
Ok so I was reading about the fat fast and there is no way I could do that for even one day, so kudos to you ladies who survive it.

ILOVEMIK: WTG! you're doing great, just visit this forum often and keep all sweets out of the house, we're so proud of you!!
Gonna have a busy day today but wanted to drop in and tell everyone hello :) It's RAINING today, yippee!! Lacey |
Lacey: Is there a difference between the "egg thing" and the fat fast?? It's raining here as well. Better than snow!
Susan: the one I posted (fat fast) is actually what I copied and pasted from a search for it. It's different than what I'm doing, as well (except I've now added a few wal-nuts to mix things up :) ) I've not lost the amount you have on that. Wish I had!! I still think it's cool that your DH does that! It's awesome you two have it worked out :) Sue:  Sandra: Sorry to hear about your friend. WTG on making it through a day w/out soda. I know it's SOOO hard to do that. Keep up the awesome work and before you know it you'll be back to energy. Good luck w/the job! Well, I'm on day 5 of the fat fast. You know, I truly thought I'd lose more weight than I have. The scale is only showing a 3 pound loss. Nope, not complaining because it's at least SOMETHING but I thought it'd be at least 5 pounds for all this. Well, I'll be happy with what I've gotten. I'm hoping it truly HAS jump started the weight loss and I can continue to lose. I've gotten my water intake all in these days and now I just have to get the exercise in. Haven't done anything since I've shoveled the other day. Does talking count as exercise  My plan today is get at least 1 mile WATP in and do my laundry (that includes folding them). I've also got to talk to the school bus garage manager. There's a kid that sits in the back of the bus (assigned seats) that is saying innapropriate stuff to kids (girls). But every time my daughter says something to the bus driver SHE is the one that gets moved to the front. Nope, not allowing THAT anymore. Time to go over her head to her boss. Did I mention I HATE conflict?? Oh well, it's gotta be done!! |
