Default shakes and snacks

Ok i just wanted to vent my confusion over the ATkins shakes and snacks. Ok, so the diet is low carb and well to some extent avoiding sugars, but they are telling you you can have some of the stuff. So is it acceptable to go ahead and try it and if it makes you stall in weight loss just drop them?

IMO - I say whatever works for you, do it. Me personally, especially the 1st 2 weeks, I try to avoid anything not on Dr. A's induction A-OK list. After that, I still stick with induction (20g), but am more open to eating things like the bars/shakes, but only when I'm in a bind (in the city shopping for ex. and starving). I'd rather have one of those than break down & have something totally illegal just because we're out. I just find it hard to believe that something can be over 20g's of carbs, but only have a net of say 2 or 3 so I feel like I'm cheating & don't do it often. I've heard others say they use them all the time with no problem & others have said their weight loss was stalled because of them so it's up to you really. If it works - great, if it doesn't don't use them.

Personally, Id stick to real food. Keep your carbs at or under 20 with veggies and leave those shakes, and bars for emergencies.

Just my opinion

Hi Cotinara, Everyone is different with different needs. I'd say whatever works for you, do that. I'm not trying to sway you either way; For me, the first time I had my 60+ pound weight loss in 2-3 months, I used Atkins' and Carb Sollution bars and Atkins' Shakes for meals and snacks, but just an occasional bar during the first two weeks.. They worked perfect for me. When I stopped eating them after 2 years, that's when I ran into trouble by adding other foods into my plan trying to eliminate these bars and shakes, and the weight came back on, and for me to keep the weight off is very important for my health. Hopefully, I'll learn better controlled eating of whole foods (when away from home especially) by the time I turn 50. However, I know I have a real problem with that, and although trying since the age of 15, if I haven't done so by now with all my effort put into it, I'm going to eat the bars and drink the shakes since that's what works for me. BTW, I was very healthy and felt great and had a lot of energy while using these.
