Weekly Chat-- October 3-9
Lottie: Sorry, haven't had that experience in all the time I've done this. Loss of appetite yes, but not the metallic taste.
Mindy: Sorry, don't have a LC steak sauce. I hear you on the quality of meat thing. There are just some places not worth getting meat from! And my self control is zilch and always has been---it's one reason I'm always fat/overweight. It's also why Atkins works so well for me (normally) because I can eat to being "full" instead of always trying to starve myself. My problem now is lack of motivation--or would that be lack of follow-through? Or both. Just too dang easy to eat junk instead of eating healthy!! Well, it's Monday morning and I'm tired again. The weekend just is never long enough!! That and it was so dang hot it never cooled down in the house to make it comfortable sleeping. I should have just broke down and put the A/C on...but you know how much of an odity that is to have to do in October? We're not usually that warm in October!! Well, I did good yesterday and I think I even got my quota of water in :cb: Did you all have a great weekend?? |
Weekly Chat - October 3rd - 9th
Good Morning LC Chicklets :D
How did everyone do this weekend? OP? |
Good Morning everyone, so this is what you meant by chat huh? I'm slow when it comes to a few things. I'm doing well this morning. Officially into week two and down 8.5 pounds even though the counter makes it look like 9.
What time of day do you all find it best to weigh and do you weigh with light weight clothes on...right after you get out of the shower? I weighed myself at six this morning and again at ten (I know I'm a serial weigher and it's a bad thing) and I weighed less at ten than I did at six. |
My weekend went well, I'm craving a salad from quiznos right now, maybe I'll walk up and get one....my end of the week is here and I"ve lost 8 lbs. :)
|
Hello everyone! I've been staying OP pretty good, but not perfectly. I get so upset when I screw up even a little bit, but I've recently come to the conclusion that I just cannot be expected to be perfect. I just have to do my best and keep on going, right? Right!
Brenda - You are doing so great on getting your water intake lately!!! Keep it up! Audrey - As for weighing, I wake up in the morning, pee, then weigh myself naked. That way there are never any other variables in play when you get on the scale such as clothing, having a big breakfast, etc. Keep up the good work - that 8.5 pound loss is great! Lottie - I've never had a salad from Quiznos - I guess I'll have to try one. And congrats on the 8 pound loss - that's awsome!!! Well, I'm off to exercise. I'm going to do some Pilates if I can get my kids to leave me alone for a few minutes. They are driving me insane as I write this... Ugh, I'm going to CRACK!!! -Sarah |

I bet you can't wait to see the results of week 2...I'm about to get up and do my weigh in. |
Quote:
I haven't found a best time of day for me..but, usually shortly after I get up..which is now for me since I worked graveyard last night. I *can* be a serial weigher throughout the week...but, I try not to. I'm at the end of my second week...yay |
well I lost 7 lbs right before sI started atkins (on xenical, but it's too expensive tokeep up with) and yet no nothing is lose yet, my fingers and face are usually what shows yet, my bf says he can tell but I can't...oh well, give it another week before I can tell a bit.... :)
hope everyone is doing well. |
Tuesday
Leenie:
Audrey: Congrats on the weight loss!! Take the 9 pounds :) The other 1/2'll be off soon. I weigh myself in the morning w/out clothes on--before I've drank anything but after going to the bathroom. I don't think it matters when you do it. If you're lighter at 10:00 then weight yourself then :) There's no rules on when it has to be done :) Lottie: If the BF says there's changes take his word :) Congrats on the weight loss!! Sarah: As long as you're still losing weight I wouldn't worry about the screw ups. And did you get pilates done? I could never do that (then again, I'm a slug and don't exercise anyway  ) and envy the people that do!! Erin: Welcome and you've come to the best place for inspiration. If you need something just let me know :) Just remember the closer you are to your goal the slower your weight loss will be!! Well, I did good yesterday again and the water intake was good. I didn't give up soda though. But I did get "bottles" that have only oz and are smaller than the cans. So I'll finish up (it was a mistake buying the bottles, so now I've gotta get rid of them) the bottles and go to the 1/2 cans I bought. THEN I'll totally quit (maybe). But I seem to be getting my water in and that was always the problem. I'll see how that goes next Wednesday when WI should show a decent loss (this week might be a waste because of the carbs from the weekend) and I'll know if I have to cut the soda out or not. Have a great day everyone :) |

Morning all, well I have contracted my kids illness. I had a question...I did really good with my carb intake yesterday. But, I started getting sick...so without even thinking I pulled out the Nyquil before bed, and after I swallowed it I thought....OH CRAP! I bet this has a ton of sugar in it! So I think I blew it just because of the one little tiny dosage of cold medication. Does anyone have any ideas on what is "carb free" cold medication? Am I going to have to stick with pills and not be able to take and cough suppressant?

Good Morning
Wow, look at all the new folks!! Welcome  Its nice to have you here! Its been a rough few days :dizzy: My back seems to have straightened out, but I havent been back on the trampoline in over a week. I walked last wednesday, but that was pushing it. Ive never been brought to tears from a sore back, but man, I was a big pink mint smellin' cry baby! So, it seems thats ok now, and pms symptoms have shown up. Add it all up, and its early pms, and wacked out hormones (again) Eating has been off, and so has the exercise. But on the plus side, dh and I busted our butts to get some signs done, and they look awesome!! We are both thrilled with the results....so is the customer  Im back to it slowly today, no exercise, but a thorough house cleaning and lots of laundry. Time to play catch-up. Ive been trying to plan a thanksgiving dinner for this weekend. Since moving to the states, I still insist on having my canadian thanksgiving....so it looks like so far, my brother, and his family will be here. Im trying to talk my parents into making the 2 hr trip. Or at least carpooling with my brother. Thats pretty much whats happening around here....have a great day everyone. |

Thanks Lottie!
|
Audrey: I wouldn't worry about it right now if I was you. When I'm sick I just worry about getting better ASAP and work on the WOE after. So just rest up and get better!!
Robin: Glad to hear you're feeling better! Early thanksgiving (turkey!!!) sounds great right now. Dang, now I'm hungry for turkey! Lottie:  Well, the pool is washed up and emptied. Now I've got to wait for it to dry and people to help me pack it up. My back is a little tight right now and I don't want to push it or it will get worse. It'll be warm yet tomorrow so maybe I'll just let it dry out there overnight. But then Thursday it's supposed to be COLD. It's just not right going from 81 to 76 to the 50's!!! Just need 8 more oz and I'll have my water in :cb: |
Hello everyone!
Brenda - Yup, I did my Pilates. I am definately a self-proclaimed slug though. I HATE to exercise! But I kinda like Pilates because you lay down to do it and its not like running around, huffing and puffing and getting all sweaty. Its just doing slow moves that you can feel working the muscles in your abdomen and it actually feels good! And by the way - even though you don't "exercise" I'll bet you do more than any of the rest of us. (Except for Robin, of course.) You're always busy going here or there, doing this or that... Woman - you NEVER seem to sit down! ;) Robin - I'm glad you're feeling better now. Its so frustrating getting sick or hurt when you're trying to diet and exercise because they just do NOT go together. But you are such a motivation, always exercising... It was just a small *blip* and you'll be back on track in no time! Audrey - I've done the same thing with liquid cold medicine and thought "Oh crap - I just screwed up big time". But, if you eat protien and/or fat with the carbs (medicine) it will slow down the absorption of the carbs. So, next time eat a piece of cheese first, then take your medicine and you should be okay. Have a great day everyone! -Sarah |
1 lb to go to get to my first goal! woo!
|
That's great, Lottie! I bet you are feeling good right now :D
|
Morning all...it's been a week since I've been in to chat. Today is weigh-in...I stayed the same. Goals for October are to lose 4 lbs by Oct. 31st, workout 5 days a week and on 2 of those days workout at night also. I am going through a slump right now so I will be in and out. Got to work on me and hope that I can keep the body good also. I have been getting LOTS of headaches lately. I have been adding my veggies Robin!! How did you girls do on your weigh in's this week???? Glad to see everyone else here!! It is awesome to read about your progress!! KUDOS to all of you on the good jobs you are doing. Well off to get the house cleaned up and get some energy...I even worked out this morning and I am dragging butt. Have a great day all!!
|
Wednesday
Sarah: I tried doing pilates and every time I've tried afterwards I'd feel sick to my stomach. One way to make sure I ate right, eh? Good job on doing the pilates and I don't think I do more than anyone...the majority of the day I'm sitting on my butt!
Lottie: WTG on almost making goal! Wish I could say the same!! Mindy:  Bec: I'm like you...the same WI problem. But I'll (hopefully) make up for it next week. At least I'm getting my water in! Sounds like you've got a great plan in place:) Well, ate beef stew last night so I'm sure that didn't help with the scale. And now my neck hurts from cleaning the pool (exercise!!!) yesterday. DANG! And I have to tromp through the woods later and put an outdoor camera out and feed the whitetail. NOT if my neck still bothers me so I'm going to have to keep moving it. ARGH!! I hate when this happens. But I haven't been to the chiro in over 6 months. Maybe it's time. Next weeks WI I want at LEAST 2 pounds gone! So that means it's using the 1/2 cans of soda and then when they're gone that's it except for bowling nights. We'll see if that helps. Have a great day everyone!! |
I'm a little miffed. I'm currently living with my parents because my husband is in boot camp right now. Well, they left for vacation last night....no big deal right? Well, it would have been if my dad hadn't packed all of my food into their camper! I had bought some italian sausage, bacon, eggs, and breakfast sausage to get me through certain nights that I didn't have time to cook like last night. He took all of it! I felt like crap cause all I had to eat was cheese. I wanted an italian sausage!!!!
Okay, enough of my whining...how is everyone doing today? I'm down some more, but will try and not count it as official until Monday since that is the end and start of a week....so I'm trying hard not to change my ticker! LOL I'm feeling much better today than I did yesterday. I took some Bendadryl for bed last night and that seemed to do the trick, otherwise I just feel like my allergies are getting to me. The sickness definitely isn't hitting me as hard as it did the kids. Okay, I have a question. When my parents are home all the crap food in the house is no big deal to me, I don't even notice it's there. But we keep all these fruit snacks and cheetos and stuff for the kids. All the sudden I was having a battle with myself last night standing in the middle of the kitchen going....if I eat it no one will ever know...yes someone will know, I will know....oh, but a poptart sounds so good and it will make up for having no food in the house....but if I don't eat that poptart I will be nice and skinny to go see Richard....ARGH!!!!!! |
Audrey~ I think you answered your own question lol You did pretty good tho!
Brenda~I hope your neck is better soon!! I havent been to a chiropractor in years, probably wont ever go back, but I hope he does the trick for you. Not much new around here, getting some paperwork in order and getting ready to send it off, hopefully by the end of the week. Im off to the market to see if I can find anything interesting for supper  Have a great day! |
Hi! Is it okay if I just jump in here? I just found this super cool forum, I didn't realize that the chat was an ongoing thread, that is too cool!! I read all of the posts from this week before jumping in, you all have done so great!!
I don't remember names yet but someone mentioned looking for a low carb steak sauce, I found some made by A-1 last week at Wal-mart. It's really really good! oh, and a little about me :) I'm a 30 year old mom of 2 girls (11 & 3) and I live in Okkklllahoma. (ok, I won't sing it, even though I'm very tempted) I started atkins in July and I am an obsessive weigher as well. I weigh probably 6 times a day. I am 5'9 and have been the big girl all my life. After my back surgery I began exercising slowly but surely but even just the walking irritates it so I don't excercise half as much as I'd like. Oh, and the cheeto thing, I have SO been there. I never even used to like cheetos and there I was looking at them like they were my life, I even smelled them! What a nut job I am, I thought! I read somewhere that the getting crap food 'for the kids' is just a form of sabatoge and that the kids don't need it either so why bother buying it...I took that to heart and have been trying to buy them alternative snacks instead and it seems to be working well. Anyway, I will not talk y'alls heads off by my first introduction...can't wait to get to know everyone better :) Lacey |
Hi Lacey and welcome! You've come to the right place for lots of support and encouragment. Look forward to getting to know you!
-Sarah |
Hiya Lacey!! Welcome
|
Hey Lacey! This forum is my favorite part of the board..the ladies are so supportive..and Robin is good about keeping us inline..lol. jk :P
That is awesome you found low-carb steak sauce..because I've been looking for some. I have my SO on the diet, as well..and he loves his steak sauce. I think if the steak is nice and tender, with the right seasonings....I don't need steak sauce.lol. You live in Oklahoma..that's cool. I was born in Tulsa..and lived there in 2000. My grandmother lives there still..and miss her dearly. I haven't seen her since 2001. I now live near Jacksonville, FL. I love the sunshine weather..well, most days we have that. The last few have been a bit rainy for my tastes. I'm glad to see you are doing well on the low carb so far....I'm working on it myself..in my 3rd week. |

Thursday
Audrey: Are you busier when your parents are home? Sorry to hear they took all your food! That would make me upset also!
Robin: While you're at the market want to decide for me also? I can always tell when it's time to go shopping because there's NOTHING in the house to fix. I'd even settle for hot dogs  I skipped on the chiro---been trying for the past 6 months to just work out the kinks myself and save us some $$. So far it's working. Lacey: Yup, the only difference is the dates change :) Too funny about wanting to sing the "Oklahoma" song....every time I hear the state I "hear" them singingi it the way they do on "Twister" Welcome :) Mindy: I usually put seasoning salt on my steaks. It's been my replacement for steak sauce. otherwise I always had to have it on also. Well, the week is almost over thank goodness! I need to quit eating the apples! That and the soda are probably my downfall right now. But it's getting cold so apples won't be around (well, in the store they will but these were FRESH) much longer. I need to find my motivation. I was OP constantly when I first started so how come I can't get that way now? I mean, when I first started on Atkins NOTHING could get me to cheat. Well, TOM could but that's it  I need to find THAT motivation. It's not like I hit my goal and can slack or anything!!! *goes off to search for motivation* :) |
Good Morning!
I didnt find anything too exciting at the market, I decided I'd make homemade pizza for supper. BIGGGGG mistake, my stomach felt like lead all night :( and it would have been cheaper to order it out, than to make it at home  Well, its back to chicken tonight :dizzy:
Steak sauce~ I dont use it anymore, I use the mccormick marinades for my steak....just delicious :T Southwest is my fav. Good at keeping you in line? only when you dont eat your veggies!!! Its great to see so many new ppl here!! Stick around we love new people here!!! Well, dh is mumbling away, using the swiffer in and around me, calling himself names because the only time he cleans is 2 days after Ive done it :lol3: He's quite funny at the moment! See....because when he started, I said I just did it 2 days ago....then more mumbling about my hair, and he's sure to find more....but I didnt wash it yesterday, so there isnt alot of it on the floor! So thats what brought about the mumbling, because the swiffer cloth is still pretty clean. Dh is off today and tomorrow, but he has a meeting with a fella who has a ski-doo who wants some graphics on it. That will be so cool to do, I hope we get the job!! I love doing vehicles! I like the signs too, but I really hate installing them!! Thats about it around here, I'll be doing some shopping for thanksgiving (monday) dh and I will have our little canadian thanksgiving even if we are the only ones :) Have a great day everyone |
you guys are so funny!
I found some cool before and after pictures in a photo album somewhere around there and that was cool! I'm still in phase 1, have been since July...it's so nice to read that you all are enjoying apples and veggies, it will be so nice when I'm comftorable enough to move on to the next level!! I lost a pound yesterday so that's pretty exciting! Since I don't exercise much it takes longer for everything to show up or down as it may be :) I just bought some size 16's off of ebay and I can't wait to get them. The 18's I was 'dying' to get into are all getting too big now, woohoo!! anyway, hope that it doesn't sound like I'm bragging but I don't know where else to yack about it and I bet you all understand the feeling LOL have a healthy day girls!!! Lacey |
Robin: I wish MY DH would help even if it is sweeping. Have fun w/your Thanksgiving :)
Lacey: Congrats on the 18's being too big!!! And if you can't brag about it here where CAN you?? I need to quit eating apples and get back to induction. Maybe THAT would get me on the straight path and back to losing weight. Let us know how the Ebay pants fit :) I stink at water today. I wasn't home much so I didn't want to have to pee all the time  I'm seriously thinking that I should go back to strict induction and see if THAT'LL jump start some weight loss. I'm thinking the apples and such aren't doing much help. I DID get some walking in today. Add that to the tromp through the woods yesterday and I'm doing pretty good for exercise  |
:cb: :cb: Go Lacey, Go Lacey, Go Lacey :cb: :cb:
Brag away girl! |
wohoo, 2 miles walked today! you guys are such an inspiration!!!
WTG with the exercising Brenda! How much water do you all TRY to consume daily and how much do you ACTUALLY drink? I am TRYING 11 8 oz. glasses and only getting down maybe 6...I don't drink anything BUT water but have never been a real guzzler, ya know? Are there any little tricks that y'all have that help you drink more water?? wow, I'm sure a yacky thing lately. Is there a reward here for 'talks too much'?   |
tricks.....buy a big thermal jug that will hold 64oz of water. 2nd best tip, drink all water thru a straw. (dont know why but it helps get the water in faster and easier)
I drink 64oz before 3pm, then anything else is bonus. |
Friday
Lacey: the only tips I can tell you is to TRY. I'm not the best at getting my water in. Buying a 64 oz mug did help (when I remembered to fill it  ) because you know for sure how much you have to drink AND can chug more down. I do best drinking from a glass (or that mug) than a bottle of water. That seems to go faster for me. And nope, no reward except getting to know other people, letting them get to know you...and getting as much/little support as you want :) How's that for a reward??
Well, drank almost my water last night.....and ended up not sleeping well. You know, I noticed when I'm OP I don't sleep well (but AM tired a bit) but when I eat the carb junk I sleep through the night. Then again, when I'm on a carb-fest I don't drink as much water  Maybe I've figured out the key!! But that's ok, I feel better OP so I'll (try to) stick to it. It's off for another tromp through the woods today. Gotta bait the deer and get that deer camera. I can't wait to see if there's anything on it. The last time we brought it home a deer was looking STRAIGHT at the camera as if to say "What YOU looking at" |
Forgot....Have a great weekend everyone :)
|
I need to drink more water, I dunno how much I drink but it's a good bit, prolly 64 oz, but i'd like to drink 94.......I work from home so it's easy to sit around and drink all day.
|
I posted this morning, but I see its not here. Just when it was suppose to return to post, 3fc's went offline. So I guess my post didnt make it thru
I didnt have much to say anyway :lol3: Dh took me out to a new restaurant this afternoon for a late lunch, early supper. Its called Smokey Bones. Well......dh had the ribs, I had pulled pork and brisket sampler. The only thing either of us would recommend would be the pulled pork. It was deliciously smokey and didnt have much if any sauce on it. The ribs were salty, and its almost as if you could taste the oven it was smoked in????? Kinda had a metal taste? The brisket wasnt that great....compared to "Fat Bob's" here in Buffalo, the brisket there is really hard to beat. K, enough talk about food  Im on a free day today, so we indulged a bit. I'll be back to it tomorrow...I have to restock the veggie drawers. I have a short rant....why is it people in vehicles have this need to make you wait for them to go by when its POURING RAIN???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? One bugger just about hit me when I stepped off the curb at the post office. I didnt see him, and he swerved around a truck to get to right where I was!!! Of course he needed to get to the mail box and make me go around instead of being courteous. :dz: Guy just ticked me off. Alright Im done :) Ive pulled out some of my art supplies, and since I dont have to make supper tonight, I think I'll do a bit of drawing, and see what I can do :dizzy: should be interesting  Have a good one.....where is everyone else today??? |
Saturday
Lottie:
Robin: Sounds like you didn't have a good experience. I've never heard of either of those types of restaurants so I think I'm safe from bad food. And I don't have the willpower to stay away from fried foods so I'm better off staying home. I'm hoping to make it through the weekend cheat free. Made it through last night (DH suggested eating out or having take out. I said no. WAHOO!!) so it's 1 down 2 to go. Off to go learn CPR and 1st aide again (renew the "license" for it) Have a great day everyone! |
Good Morning!!
Did you all know that Denny's has a low carb menu that is actually low carb? I realize that this is a 'breakfast' type place and of course it would have low carb food but it's pretty darn neat to see a section of the menu blocked off with carb count below each item just for ME :) I lost two more pounds, I'm ALMOST past that 20 mark, it will mean so much for me to be in the teens and then out of the 200!! ROBINW: I've been meaning to ask, what is protein power?? better get off my buns and get some housework done! Lacey |
