Default Wise person

A wise person was giving me a pep talk and gave me these words of wisdom:

Today's Thought:

Even dieters deserve a day off.

You know, I never looked at it like that before. I was also reminded I wasn't in my 20's anymore, have had children so my "youth" body will probably not be attainable. Which brings me back to what I read in the book....about making sure the goal is attainable. Maybe I need to re-think my weight goal. Or the "dream weight goal" I was hoping for.

So between that wise person and the supportive people...
THANK YOU AGAIN (can't say it often enough!!)

Well Brenda, I'm going to gently tell you the story of a conversation I had with a dietician several years ago. I work in a hospital so we had a casual get together for a few minutes while we were both not busy. I wanted some suggestions about portion sizes. At the time I weighed 15? and was in my late 30's.
"How much would you like to weigh?"
I said 122 lbs.
She smiled and asked me when I had weighed 122 lbs the last time.
I said 1983 between my first and second of three children.
She smiled again and suggested I come up with a more realistic goal.

It's 8 or 9 years later and I'd like to talk to her now.

B- I think your post was great, it is true that you have to have realistic goals and do what is right for you and your body, everyone has different goals and needs and what is right for one person may not be rigfht for you. I am all for a day off every once in awhile it is vital for you to feel like a normal person and to give yourself a reward now and then. But just remember, i meal is OK and then just get back on it!!

So in my opinion I think goals should be something realistic that you can easily maintain for long term health, something healthy that you feel good about, I don't think the number means much it is how healthy you are and how good you feel.

Susan: Congrats on reaching your goal!!

TG: I truthfully don't know if I could reach my goal or not. I picture my "BC" (before children) body and my NOW body and I don't think it'll happen. Mainly cuz my hips have gotten wider My family (not DH of course) used to say I was too skinny. But then I see them and wonder why THEY'RE talking about going on diets and losing weight. And you're right, I have to remember this is also about being HEALTHY. The rest is just ICING
