Question I feel like I'm eating sooooo much food

BUT I 'm staying at 20 carbs or less per day. Is this ok - Im in the process of reading the book right now. Keeping track I'm usually at about 2000-2200 calories a day. Has this worked for anyone else, meaning this calorie level?

Hi Mammasita,

I wish I could tell you if it would work or not, everyone is different. If you find your not losing then thats when I would adjust the calories, but keep the carbs the same. Its a learning process, just like everything else. Congrats on starting Atkins!! For me with calories, I had to say around 1400 - 1600 to lose, on 20 gms of carbs a day. Once you hit it right......wooosh!

Welcome to 3FC's !!!!

I'd like to invite you to the daily boards

Welcome Mammasita I never counted my calories. Didn't have to---at first. I think that's part of the reason I stalled out. Pounds were going down....but I wasn't cutting back on eating like I should have. Ever since I've cut down on snacks and such....I've lost a little more. Just make sure that you're not stuffing yourself.

And Leenie's right....you learn as you go

Hi Mammasita! I recently started Atkins on 9/16/04. I am down 12.5 pounds! I, personally, do not count calories. I just stay within the 20 carb mark everyday. Its currently working for me this way. I am sure I will eventually need to watch my calorie intake. I just do not have the cravings that I used to have, so haven't been eating as much. I wish you luck. Atkins has been great for me!

Talking Thanks Ladies....

I mean it seems like the scale is moving in the right direction. I haven't felt that "oh I ate so much I'm bloated" feeling since Ive started either. After reading a bit more, I think consuming 2000-2200 cals a day is probably good for maintenance ESPECIALLY since I haven't been counting as I go - thats just where my numbers are approx. at the end of the day when I add everything up. I think I'm gonna cut it down a bit to say 1700 MAX, with the target being about 1500.

Thanks for your help!

I just keep cruising thru these aktin threads and I am learning so much. Now 20 grms of carb isn't much. So I decided to look up the carb count in the book and oh do I know where I made mistakes. #1 - nuts. not allowed in induction and even if I were in ongoing, I was eating way to many.
#2 white onions really high. (didn't know that) And the differences in veggies. I thought they were practically unlimited(though I wasn't eating much) but you really need to watch which ones and how much.

Boy, there is more to this then I thought.
Maybe this will work if I do it right.
