Morning Jane. I'm here too. Hope you had a good weekend.

I got a phone call from my sister last night. I plan on making a thread on that alone as it'll probably be a long vent. That way you all can read or not at your own risk I didn't manage to stay OP on Saturday. Stopped at my parents house and she had this rhubarb dessert. GRRR. And then to top it off I had TWO pieces!! Just slap me! So Saturday night DH and I decided we're DEFINITELY getting back on track!! I've been splurging way too often lately and that's got to stop. Otherwise why exercise? Bought a new WATP set. It uses bands (those rubber things) instead of the weighted balls. It's fast paced and will make for a nice change. They supposedly have a 4 mile one I want to check out. They didn't have any Windsor Pilates so I'm waiting to find that one Other than that the weekend went WAYY too fast and I need another break!! Dog goes to the vet today. THAT is always exercise in itself

Good morning Brenda. Just read your post..... I'm so sorry you and your sister are having to deal with this. Just be strong and support her all you can. Don't they ever take his license away from him? I know in MA they take it for good on a second offense I think.

Well, for me, the weekend was short....nice but short. Cleaned the house yesterday. Woke up with this strange desire to clean the house What was up with that? DH was happy about it. Washed the blanket from our bed and changed it, then vaccumed the upstairs after I washed the two upstairs bathroom floors. Went downstairs and washed the bathroom and kitchen floors. We went out later in the day and when we came home for some strange reason I decided I had to clean the wood floor in the downstairs. Glad that feeling is over with

Need to get my exercise in this week! Hardly did any this weekend...just a walk on Saturday.

Morning ladies!

Jane - I'm always confused when I'm in the mood to clean, too, as it happens so rarely for me. Actually, I predict that later this summer, when I finish my thesis, I will likely get into a massive cleaning mood (as I predict that my place will be a big mess by then!)

Brenda - I read your other thread - ugh, what a thing to deal with. Glad though that you and your DH are getting back on the Atkins track. Actually, that's really nice that he's doing it with you, it probably helps.

The weekend was so short, it seems. There was quite a wind, so not hot, but pleasant enough. I filled in my mail-in ballot for our election and mailed it away, so that's done, I've voted. It feels weird doing it a week early when there's still a week of campaigning left - I feel like I'll miss something, even though chances are *really* slim that I'd change my vote.

It was kind of funny actually, for a mail-in ballot, I actually have to fill in the name of the candidate in my region that I'm voting for (instead of just checking a box beside a name). Well, in the voting package, they didn't send me the names of the candidates for my region (and since I haven't been home in ages, I don't know who they are), so I called home to get the names, and my dad gave me *one* name ... do you think he's trying to hint about what party he wants me to vote for? However, luckily for us, we agree.

And my dad won the MVP award for his rec hockey league. MVP being "Many Various Penalties." I think they're trying to give him a hint here.

Later!

Hey there Leenie, missed you! Hope your weekend was good.

ETA: I'm in the computer lab again, music playing really loud in my ears, as the people *still* haven't learned the art of speaking quietly! Argh!!

Yeah, we don't have fixed election dates up here unlike you folks, so whenever the Prime Minister calls a general election, then we have it (though there is a maximum length of term that they can have, which is five years, I think).

Hey, ladies!

Brenda: Sorry about your sister issues!

Leenie: Watch out for the big, bad boss.

Jane: I need to get into a cleaning mood in a serious way!

Lekker: Your dad's MVP award cracked me up.

TG: Have fun playing hooky.

Weekends are too short! I don't want to work. Ugh.

On Friday, I went out with three friends to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Tasty place. Needless to say, I had to partake in some cheesecake -- white chocolate macadamia nut to be exact. It was so incredibly wonderful -- maybe the best dessert I've ever had. After that, we went out for some drinking -- not too much, though. Everyone was being party poopers!

On Saturday, DH and I went out ot lunch and went to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. We really just looked around -- they just turned it into a Hard Rock, so it was fun to check it out. It's not "regular" gambling since it's on an Indian reservation, but they have poker and slot machines (that are very different from Las Vegas). That night, DH and I watched the baseball game at a sports bar.

Sunday was church, out to lunch with church friends, and then watching the baseball game with DH in the afternoon.

Tonight is weigh-in. Although I've had a few mess-ups, I'm pretty positive about it. I think I still managed to do OK.

This week is going to be hectic. I am moving in a week, so I've got to get packed, get phone, electric, etc., turned off here and turned on at the new place and start moving small stuff over this week. It will be nice to be moved, but I'm not looking forward to the process.

I hope everyone has a great Monday!

Take care,
Jina

Good Morning All!

Jane - I know that cleaning feeling! I got it yesterday too! Althoug Mine started when Just after I got home from Dropping DH off at the airport and my kitchen sink disposal got clogged up. My father walked me through taking the trap out over the phone, and in the process, I got water ALL OVER the floor and cabinet! Some bug got me then and I decided to clean out all my cabinets! Got rid of some cooking stuff I have never used in 14 years of marriage, cleaned out all my spices and even organized the tupperware.. OMG.. What on earth!

Brenda - I havent read your thread yet.. but I will after this! I am glad you and DH are getting it back on track! ME too!

Leenie!!

Lekker - I am an absentee voter too! Once I had my kids it just got too hard to shlep them to the polls! Now that they are in School, I just never went back to the regular way. Actually I like it better this way. I can take my time and research all my votes.

TG - Sounds like you had the cleaning bug too! And a how did you get through it all with 2 two-year olds! WOW! I couldnt do it! BTW, and I am not trying to start something, but I thought I would mention that political postings really shouldnt be done here on the Atkins boards. You might think about those of us who may have different views than you do. Especially those of us (myself included) who have family currently fighting in Iraq.

As for me, Induction is going great so far! I do have a small headache, but I cannot quite decide if it is induction, or TOM, which was due to arrive yesterday. I didnt get up and exercise though. DD decided that she would not sleep in this heat last night and I didnt get to my bed until 1AM! UGH! at least she let me sleep in a little.

I found this great article on Low Carb eating and Running yesterday in Runners World Magazine. It talked about how if you carb-load and you only run 5K or 10K distances, you are actually doing yourself a disservice! Carb-loading is for 1/2 Marathons and up when you need the extra carbs to burn so you dont hit the wall. They mentioned that 5K and 10Kers should actually eat a little more protien instead right before a run. They even have a chart on how many carbs a day you should eat to maintain your weight and run! Of course they are a little high still at 181 grams a day for a 5K er who runs 3 days a week.. but I was so glad to find a supportive article finally!

OK.. I am off to start the day! I will check back in a while!

Karen: CLEANING OUT THE CABINETS! OMG....now I will probably run home and do that If you only knew how little cleaning I do...my DH is the neat freak in the house. I hardly ever have to clean anything because he is always "picking up". And I give up trying to organize the Tupperware cabinet. My husband will empty the dishwasher but he will not put away the Tupperware....he says he is afraid!

Jina: You are always such a busy girl! Good luck with the WI tonight and with the moving! I don't know if I could do it again and I have only moved twice in my life. Living out of boxes and all.........

TG: It is funny that we all seemed to have the bug this weekend Wish I was playing hooky today

Lekker: I'd say your dad is definitely trying to sway your vote!

Karen: How do you manage to stay on induction? Lack of sleep doesn't help lose weight I've heard. Hope you get caught up on the zz's soon!!

Jina: WI will go great!! Hope your move also goes smoothly!

TG: You're a braver woman than I am. I never managed to clean ANYTHING when the girls were younger. Hmm..I don't manage to clean now either

Lekker: Was it a mistake you think that you didn't get a listing of who's running or were they not giving that info to anyone?

Jane: If you've leftover energy want to clean my house? lol. No, they don't yank licenses around here. And even if they do, some of the people drive w/out them. It's stupid. Some manage to get "occupationals". That is a special paper they have to carry with them driving that gives them permission to drive to and from work. They have set up times and can't be caught driving outside that time frame.

Well, I've got an hour and then I've got to take the dog for her checkup and annual shots. She'll catch the smell of the other animals and go BONKERS and try and drag me all over the place. I need a doggie prozac to calm her down! THEN I've got to call the co-leader to let her know I'm ready to go and straighten up after the rummage sale. I HATE running all the time!! My ankle hurts and I don't want to walk on it anymore Ok, done whining. TOM is coming this weekend and the chocolate urges are already coming. UGH!!

Brenda - You snuck in on me! Staying on induction is easy. Atkins recipies and keeping the non-atkins friendly stuff out of the house. Also taking L-Glutamine 1 hour before every meal helps with cravings. This last time I went to the store, I didnt buy any Atkins brand items either! Just induction Foods. And I eat an atkins meal every 2-3 hours if I can.

I know what you mean about the running all the time too. Thankfully, summer is here and we have slowed down a bit! Actually a lot!
