Question at a stand stilll

i have been on atkins for about 6 weeks. i am doing really good though now i feel i am at a stand still. i drink 8 glasses of water a day or alittle more. i usaully eat meat with out any breading. i bought some almond flour to start dipping chicken int the almond flour to get a crunchy feeling to the meat. I am not cheating on the diet. i do eat a ryans steak house 2 or 3 times a week , and when i am there i drink water with lemon, i get a salad and have my limited vegs for the day for that meal and have plain steak and broiled chicken,no desserts. i am not cheating at home and if i feel i am going to cheat i cook some eggs or bacon to have alittle taste. i did the other day i ate a couple of cherrios (2 or 3 -O"S). i have lost 30 lbs and just thought i might have been able to lose 10 more lbs. i might just be getting discourged in the diet. i do know that the weight did not come on over night and i should not worry to much, but i do. sue

Maybe you are getting a little burnt out? Try some variety! There are tons and I mean TONS of low carb recipes out there. Try www.atkins.com There are also a couple recipe threads around here and on the low carb forum as well. We have soo many options now, not just meat, cheese and 3 cups of veggies. There are low carb tortillas, LC yogurt and crystal light just to name a few.

Goodluck and hang in there. 30lbs is absolutly awesome! Wtg!

Congratulations!! 30 pounds in 6 weeks is great!!! How close are you to your goal weight (10 pounds?)? The closer you get to it the slower your weight will come off. try not to get discouraged....slow and sure wins the race. hmm...what other whacky one liners can I put in here?? Keep your chin up

Sue,

Check your calories, you could be eating more than your burning.

i really am trying to stay where i need to be on low carbing. i have been looking into diffrent recipes to get variety in my food. i am trying diffrent spices with chicken ,green beans and other meats. i do drink the amount of water i need each day. i have been craving a sweet taste and i made a recipe i found in this site called miracle fluff and it was yummy. i have been printing out some recipes from diffrent sites. i am wanting to learn how to convert recipes to low carb someday. I guess i know that i will get there on my weight loss. i will keep plugging along my way. i hope to be done to 170 by the end of august and i hope to be 158 by januray 1 -2005. sue

Are you exercising. Increasing whatever exercise you are already doing may help.

Oh, one other thing about the exercise. When I started posting here it was about 6 weeks into Atkins for me too, and I had stopped losing. I had started exercising more but the scale wasn't moving. Then some helpful little chick reminded me to MEASURE. So, w/exercise, your scale may not be moving, but you may still be shrinking (as was I).

Congratulations on your loss so far!

Sue, congratulations on losing 30 pounds. I started Atkins about the same time as you, this is my sixth week. And I too experienced a stand still from the tail end of the fourth week to middle of the fifth week. I didn’t lose any weight for 9 consecutive days. Then from last Thursday until yesterday morning I lost 2 pounds. Your body needs to get used to this weight loss. 30 pounds is amazing. But I think you will lose this next 30 pounds a lot slower. Keep at it. It will happen. You will suddenly see a few pounds gone in a matter of few days.

Sue,
It sounds like you are doing a fantastic job. Don't give up hope and try not to get too discouraged. Just keep doing what your doing and eventually your body is going to have to give in and give up the pounds. It sounds like it just needs a bit of time to catch up to what weight you have lost already. I am also at a stand still and I know how difficult it can be not to see those numbers move. Just hang in there! Your already half way to goal.. it's to late to give up now
