  • Good morning everyone,
I'm back from Florida, and considerably redder than when I left. Advice for life: non-water-proof suncreen needs to be re-applied after swiming. At this moment I'm just as dumb as I look. Had an attack of nerves before I left and only packed the frumpy one-piece bathing suit I wear to swim laps, but when I got there my Gradmother had bought me a new bathings suit, a teeny tiny little thing with strings. After much deliberation I finally said, what the heck, I don't know anyone here, so why not give the teeny tiny bathings suit a try? And you know what, I don't think it looked that bad. Food wise I also managed to stay on track all weekend, eating yummy things like stone crab and mussels! This in a house full of cake, candy and ice cream. I still haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained any either and in the past week I lost an inch off my waiste and an inch off my hips. Now if only I could lose some inches off my thighs I'd be a happy girl.

Brenda- good for you for only eating 2 1/2. Could have been much worse, it's so easy to keep going once you start.

Shimma- It's supposed to snow here today and I'm absolutely dreading it, so much easier to think of spring as being near when there isn't snow on the ground

Jane- Your post was amazing. Not to sound too redundant, but such and inspiration, especially becuase I'm a terribly slow loser. I just hope I can keep going as long as you have. Also, I live in Waltham.

    Leenie- congrats on the suit!

Teece and Mrs H. - Nice to meet you!

Karen- I did yoga for a while to improve my flexability and I loved it. Very relaxing. Wish I still had time.

Jina- I'm going to have to look for those low carb tortillas, they sound good.

Theo's Girl- Are there reruns of Sex and the City on any channel other than HBO?

Well, I've gone on for way too long, and since it's Tuesday, naturally I haven't finished my lab yet, so I've got some serious work to do in the next hour. But one last general question: Is it possible to be in ketosis and still not lose any fat? Hope you all have a lovely day.
    Abbie
  • I get chills everytime I read your responses......I feel like I am standing up on stage at the Academy Awards saying "no really, please, sit, sit!"

    Thanks everyone.

ok, first I heard something about low carb tortilla's? I use the La Tortilla brand and they are good but your right jdoggmartin they do have a funky taste sometimes. I will look for the ones you mentioned. I am making myself taco's tonight with my new find the 1 carb shells. Can't wait.

KarenW: Did your GYN really tell you that you wouldn't get past that "set point"? Talk about your encouragement. I know you can do it. How is your web site coming.....I would love to see it.

Mrs H: Welcome. Believe me my attitude isn't always this way. I just feel more empowered this week. I hope it sticks around.

Theo'sgirl: I have been wanting to try yoga again. I did it years ago but because I am a hard of hearing it was so frustrating for me.....the instructor was so soft spoken and the new age music so loud. I would be stressed by the time I left there. Not what is supposed to happen I understand

Genghis Cohen: From one fryer to another.....OUCH! I am not good in the sun. Use lots of cream to help with the peelies. Congrats on the teeny bikini! I WISH. Bet you looked awesome.

Well, I am off to lunch. Talk more later.
  • Hello darlings!

It's the last day of **** time at work and I'm sooooooo excited!

Jina - I've been quoted! How exciting! Ohhh and I know all about the wonderful new tortillas. The brand I buy is called Mission and it's DIVINE!!! To keep myself under control, I just use 1 and make a chicken quesadilla. But they'd be very easy to just wolf down.

Jane - Beautiful post! You don't sound self-centered at all! What a great example of persistance!

I had a bit of a slip last night, but it was also a learning experience for me. Those of you who've been around here for a while know that since I got it out of my system, eating sugar makes me violently ill. Well, last night I ate an orange. Not my finest moment, but certainly not anywhere close to downing a bag of hershey's kisses. This morning I feel fine. So I guess it's refined sugar and not natural sugar that's a killer for me. Or maybe it's that it was a small orange and only around 10 grams of carbs as opposed to the tons of sugar that's in other things. Regardless, it was interesting.

Tomorrow is going to be an adventure as well, my work group is leaving at around noon and going to a place called Kell's. It's a bar where the big St.Paddy's celebration goes on in Portland. That means lots and lots of beer. I'm not a big fan of beer unless it's super dark and heavy which is exactly the kind I should stay away from. So who knows? I could be having a lovely time watching my co-workers get trashed!

Hello to all the increasingly skinny lot of you! Sorry I don't have time for personals for everyone but I'll try to make it back later. Have a great day!!!
  • Happy Tuesday to all!

I am in the middle of a software class, and decided to see how everyone is doing.

Genghis: I learned about the sunscreen the hard way! I am about as white as you can get, and that stuff comes off in salt water really fast! Also, if you get it into your eyes, you are really messed up! Congrats on the bathing suit!

Star: I discovered that I am a borderline diabetic, and have developed food allergies over the years. Most of the food allergies are to flour, refined sugar, and the bad carbs. My FAVORITE FOODS! Oh well, I am not going to become a diabetic if I can help it! If I have to eat splenda and frankenfood chocolate for the rest of my life and not be a diabetic, I will be happy!

When I get time, I will write more. By the way welcome to the new people!
  • Hi again ladies:

Genghis congrats on being good during vacation !!! That is soooo great
Sex in the city is produced and owned by HBO so they will never release it to anyone else, but each season is on DVD so you can rent.

Star I ate and orange too when i was sick with a cold and it didn't have the effect that the refuined sugar had either, I was gonna tell you that but i forgot when you were gone. I also had eaten some pasta (while you were gone I had a cheat, you are lucky you missed it ) But the pasta didn't have the same efftect as the refined sugar either, I felt sluggish but not violently ill like the refined sugar does! Interesting huh??

I have to say this it may sound mean but it is not meant to......here goes....I noticed while working at a call center that alot of people in the call center are very overweight (maybe to much sitting?) anywho i was in a meeting and usually I would have been one of the "big ones" but now I was on the small end kinda in the middle!!! I was so happy it was just a personal revelation....being "big" all my life now I am gonna be on the small side!! YIppeeeeeee

    Have a great day!
    Love TG
  • Oh crud. There's no way I can answer everyone that posted after me. I stink at scrolling also. I enjoy reading everyone's news and the newsier the better. I also love hearing your success stories also. It gives me inspiration to keep going. I truly give you all the credit for me staying on this WOE!!! I really don't think I could have done it w/out you all.

I don't buy my brownies. I snitched the recipe off this site I don't remember where it is, it's like 1.5 carb per brownie. Calls for Atkins bake mix (only cuz I don't know what to substitute that with) and baking chocolate squares, vanilla and eggs. What am I missing? Oh, Splenda. It's super simple to make. But I think it's the Atkins bake mix that makes it taste funky. And it's more like a cake than a brownie. But it worked for the first couple months. Now it's not so healthy tasting (Thanks Star ). I do want to check out the Wal-Mart and see if I can find those low-carb tortillas!! They sound delish!!!

hi everyone. Sorry to dash in and dash out.
  • Thanks! It's nice to feel like I'm making a difference
  • Well the snow has started here in MA. Looks like it is going to be a doozy. Maybe we won't have to work tomorrow....yeah right.

For some reason I am craving chips or crackers today. Haven't had that in a long time. But I resisted. I keep looking at the clock and say to myself that it is almost 5 and when I get home I can have something.
I am so excited about my taco's for dinner....yum, yum, yum. I will let you know if the shells are any good.

Well, I am off to brush the snow off my car and drive home. Going to have to bundle up it is cold out there. Oh spring, where for art thou spring?
  • Evening Everyone,
Finally I have internet back! Don't know what happened but I was lost when I came home from work and couldn't log on to post So I took advantage of the situation and went for a bike ride... I know I lost weight on this trip cuz I froze my arse off!

Jane - You should be very pround of all you have accomplished, and being a slow loser you deserve an extra "BRAVO" for sticking to it! YOU are an inspiration!

I'm sorry I just don't have the energy to personalize everyone, I'm so pooped I can barely keep the eyes open Will post more tomorrow (the dreaded WI day of my week from ****)

    Have a nice night All
