So I've already walked some with baby, and I'm planning on a 2 miler this afternoon. I'm not used to not wanting to eat all the time, my brain chemistry has definitely changed since I started this 2 wks ago.
B: espresso, eggs, protein shake S: cc and mixed berries L: goat chz/ asparagus burger (no bun) D: veggie salad ( I think!) I'll end up about 1650 calories, I try to do 1650 5 days a week and then on the 2 days I do my major workouts I up it about 2-300. |
I've been AWOL over the weekend, but you haven't got rid of me yet!!
I had three non-primal dinners (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and thought I was handling things okay, then stepped on the scale this morning to see a 5-lb gain. I know it's not fat, but still. FIVE pounds. Back on that primal horse today. Grok probably rode horses, right? Hippo-something-or-other. :D |
I think he rode a triceratops.

Ok, so I'll detail my food so far. Sorry if it is lame to do so, but I am very excited about this. I still haven't finished the book, but if I understand the carbohydrate curve correctly, I'm aiming for between 50 and 100 grams a day. That allows for a TON of veggies and some good servings of fruit. This is so interesting to me. I'm not "munchy", I'm not falling face first into Cheezits or gold fish crackers. I mean, if the only thing I get out of this Primal diet at this time is more veggies and fewer binges, I'll consider that a success. With the 80% rule, I can still incorporate some oats or the odd English muffin. So today so far: protein shake, strawberries, walnuts spinach salad with chicken breast (I had planned hardboiled eggs, but I found a stray leftover chicken breast from Friday night, and thought, heck, why not?), red onions, blue cheese, and ranch dsg (soybean oil in the ranch....alas!) Totals at this time: 824 kcal 53 g fat 23 g carbs 67 g protein With the wide carb target range, I'll have plenty of room for some more strawberries and some beans & zucchini in my turkey chile tonight. |

This is a kissing cousin of Susan's magic salad, I think. And if there are protein rich leftovers, I have them instead of fish. I lost about a stone (14 lbs) Jan - early March freestyling this kind of food. Never heard of 'primal' until a few weeks ago. Too bad this Sissons character got there first - could have made a mint! Joking aside, I'm back on my case now pressure of work & extended fam has eased up. Let the fat continue to melt! |
I was thinking that too Silver! For many years the folks here at 3FC have been touting proteins and bathtubs full of greens. It's not all that different.
I continue to be amazed by my lack of hunger. Another decadent snack ... fried summer sausage. |
midwife - very cool! I'm currently working on my core classes and waiting to start clinicals for nursing school at our local community college. I think that eventually I would like to be a cnm...eventually. First things first though. :)
