On the initial phase of Atkins, known as Induction, its 20 net carbs (total carbs minus dietary fiber) per day. If you think this is something you might be interested in, I would strongly recommend reading the book (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution) before beginning the plan so you know exactly how & why it works.

Im not an expert or anything and still have alot to learn but I try to stick to 50% carbs for my daily intake. Im on a balanced diet though not anything special. So I try to stick to 20% protein, 30% good fat, and 50% carbs.
I try to eat a good carb with every meal.
