Default Schwarzbein Principle?

I lost weight years ago following a plan almost identical to the Schwarzbein Principle and have been thinking about following that again. I need more protein than calorie counting..I eat way too many carbs and binge something awful; but more well-known low carb plans, Atkins, Paleo, etc., just have too much meat to suit me. I was curious if anyone else here follows SP and how you are doing.

I'm not familiar with the Schwarzbein Principle - but I think you might have some misapprehensions about Atkins. It's possible to follow Atkins as a vegetarian (or indeed vegan!) - if you don't want to eat much meat, then it's perfectly possible to get your protein via fish, chicken or vegetable-based things like soy and tofu.

Having googled quickly, the Shwarzbein Principle looks pretty sensible stuff, though - and pretty much what most people are doing here, on their various diet plans, I'd say. Good luck!

For those unfamiliar with the Schwarzbein Principle...have a look here:
http://www.schwarzbeinprinciple.com/.../program1.html

However, I do agree with Fay regarding Atkins....most people believe Atkins is all about eating unlimited quanities of meat. To clear up any misinformation, the first phase of Atkins, known as Induction, limits your total carb intake per day to 20 carbs. I would like to emphasize, 12-15 of those 20carbs are to be coming from low carb veggies & salads. So as you can see, the concentration isn't on meat. And going even further, the first step of the 2nd phase of Atkins (On Going Weight Loss) is to add 5 additional carbs worth of MORE veggies as well as fruit. In the 3rd phase of Atkins (Pre-Maintenance) the whole grains are added...oatmeal, brown rice & whole wheat pasta. So, those who are "doing Atkins" that tell you all they eat is meat, are doing it incorrectly. When done correctlyas Dr. Atkins wrote it, the Atkins Nutritional Approach is a healthy way to lose weight & maintain that loss for the rest of your life!

All the best to you!!

thank you both for your comments. I'm sorry to imply that Atkins is all meat, I have read the book and do know it isn't. I should have worded better that I don't like meat much at all and I'm allergic to soy so those alternatives are out. I do like fish but around here only get the frozen gross kind. My son is allergic to beef so we eat bison and lots of chicken..I am so tired of chicken...

As I've gone around my house not eating cuz nothing sounds good..I've pretty much decided I like the flexibility of SP and when I was on it, my blood tests were "ideal" in the dr.s words so I know it works for me.

Thank you for the well wishes and correcting my words on Atkins
