Wink Weekend Pancakes, YEAH! Oh, Wait, They're Not For Me

Hey there everyone. Glad to see you Aud.

I had a great eating day but didn't get any exercise today either, Puncezilla. My boss was leaving for China and of course I couldn't leave my desk today either. At one point, he actually lost his tickets. They had just been handed to him and he couldn't find them. We are looking on his desk and they are obviously not there. I grab his briefcase and the first compartment I look in, there they were.

Sherry, you will probably find that the longer you avoid sugar-free/low-carb the more sweet they taste when you do get them. I do have that certain diet lemon/lime soda occasionally and it tastes almost sickingly sweet and makes me bloat. I feel like I have to drink extra water to make up. I don't do diet very often.

Kris, I am feeling for you. I make waffles for my kids at least once during the week and pancakes on the weekend. I know that this is not food that I can eat. I want to reach my goal more than I want waffles. And the funny part is that after eating their pancakes, with real vermont maple syrup no less, when I finally sit down with my omelet, who do you think wants some eggs? Yup, the kids are asking for my eggs. This is just something you have to do for the kids. I made 56 cupcakes for my DS Cub Scout dinner two weeks ago. I am making oatmeal cookies with my DD this weekend as a surprise for her class. Oh well, we do what we must as a parent even if it does make us crazy.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello all-

Pancake Saturday went off without a hitch. They always smell so good, and I think Mr. W thinks I am missing out, but I really think I used to eat them because he loves them so much! It was a shared activity or something. That's a silly reason to eat anything. Glad I don't do that anymore.

Sherry, I don't consume much diet soda anymore. I'd say maybe 1 bottle a week is all. It continues to amaze me how our taste buds can change if we give them a chance. I have a love for sparkling mineral water and tuck in a bit of lime slices. My staple is still ice water though - I start with a 1.5L bottle of water (1/3 frozen, 2/3 water) in the morning when I head out the door to exercise. My goal is to have it empty by noon and then everything else I drink that day is 'frosting'.

Hi All & Tx for the Welcome Backs!

I was thinking of you while I was gone puncie ~ short (yeah, right!) explanation: Remember we were all talking about getting sexy shoes & we laughed that I ended up with a pair of furry gorilla slippers from the Goodwill? I named one "Phil" and told dd10Tess about the famous St.Louis Zoo gorilla who is now stuffed & on display . . . ff that we ended up play fighting over the slippers (the right one is "Phillip" - Phil's British cousin-don't ask-very bored & sick household?) We took turns hiding the Grilla-Slips in obvious places like the top of dh's deer headmount etc. Big Fun. ok . . . so The Bunny always puts a swimsuit & white mary janes in the Basket . . . this year I foundthese adorable slippers @ Target-whole line called "Nick & Nora" that look JUST like your puncezilla avatar! TOO CUTE - matching socks & then saw a whole line of wallpapers/bathroom accessories/pillows--just a whole industry!

Phil & Phillip are now a thing of the past - Nick & Nora rule the school - andI can't even wedge a toe in the suckers!

I remember going to your website - are you still going strong? Misplaced the link - would love to show it to dd!

I used to be a Diet Coke FREAK . . . can only stand the taste now when hungover - it's like my bod CRAVES it then(???) Can hardly gag it down any other time - tastes like . . . oh I don't know . . . ummm, like a chemical poison maybe?

Today's eating was borderline. We had an early little league game and I only had turkey bacon. Everyone else also had toasted cinnimon swirl bread with syrup for breakfast. After the game, I didn't get my protein for lunch because I was trying to get DS9 & DD7 fed and out the door to get shoes quickly. I had a salad with mayo.

Well, today my exercise was walking about 2 miles up Van Nuys Blvd looking for shoes for my kids. We walked to 3 different shoe stores. over 2.5 hours. My DS9, being almost a man already, went into the store knowing exactly what he wanted. He already knew his size and tried on exactly two pairs of shoes. We bought the second pair with the skulls. My DD7, on the other hand, was being the princess/diva that she has been since birth. I think she tried on every pair of shoes in three different sizes. One pair were too tight on her toes and she couldn't wiggle them. "They're crushing my toes, mommy." Another pair had too much room in the toes and she could wiggle them. She tried on 5 pairs of lace-up before deciding she really wanted no laces. I am standing and walking back and forth the entire time. She would think she liked a shoe and then put it on and turn up her nose at them. She even told me at one point, "No, these won't do at all. Would you bring me this in a size 3?" What do I look like? Oh, wait, I am her mom/lady-in-waiting. When I told DH, he was cracking up. He said we needed to get her a personal shopper. So, that was my exercise and my hips ache.

Oh, yeah and I can now where a pair of pants that I bought Sept 2006 at an outlet store for $5. I refused to buy the size I was wearing at the time and this particular pant was running small, too. I threw them in the back of my closet and just found them in January. So I bought the size I used to wear and I can wear them now.

So, I know I am losing, even when the scale doesn't move because my pants and shirts are looser.

Hope everyone is having a fantabulous weekend!

Hi support buddies, I hope everyone had a great day.

Sylvia, I think the shopping is a good workout, especialy 2.5 hours shopping with kids. Congrats on fitting into the new pants that's fantastic.

SC, I'm gell' I don't have the slippers, I'll have to check ebay and see if I can find them. & I promiss not to wear them while drunk or hungover.

Aud, Your bored and sick household sounds like fun .
I love the Nick & Nora stuff. We don't have target here but I got the bed sheets and PJs of Ebay. Here is my photo page link, I love making all kind of things but the sock monkeys and toys are my favorite. http://www.flickr.com/photos/puncezilla/

I had a good day today. DH took me out to show me some of the big fancy houses he's been working on. We had fun just hangin' out together. Still no exercise today, but food was good. Got to get back on the 'mill.

Hey, KrisR, to up your fiber try adding fresh tendergreen/mustard spinach to your salad. Out of 5.8g carbs in one cup, 4.2 is fiber. Broccoli is okay, too. out of 6g carbs, 2.4 is fiber. You can also use this link to look up any food:

http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C00001-01c20eD.html

Let us know how it goes or you suggestions for veggies with high fiber.

Thanks for that Sylvia and congrats on the pants. I try to add at least a cup of spinach each day to my salads but I didn't realize I was adding such good fiber. I guess I didn't check the numbers out very well! That link is one I was looking for too....I heard about it on a podcast and didn't have a pen handy to record it.

I've had a very difficult day with non-hungry desires. I'll be ok on carb count, but heavy on calories. The choices I've made have been high fat as I've been hoping to extinguish the craving. Not really craving anything specific...just the desire to eat. An old habit for sure.

Think it probably stems from a few family issues (grandmother is having senior dementia moments more frequently and husband of good friend is in final stages of cancer - I'm on the other side of the globe from both of them). I feel so helpless with both situations and think that is contributing to my overall emotional slump. I'll snap out of it - but it makes me feel sad. I should probably just go do some writing about it and get it all out.

Enjoy your Sunday! I'm looking forward to shutting the light off tonight and having a good night sleep. Tomorrow will see me at the gym first thing for my PT session.

Good morning girls, Well the scale just keeps on going a little lower every day. I always love that about Atkins at the beginning. I'm now 9.5 pounds lower than when I started (Last Monday). Tomorrow morning it will be a week since the beginning of this decision, so if the pattern continues I will have lost probably 10 pounds in a week. Wouldn't it be nice if such losses could continue?

I know they won't. But I'm enjoying it while I can. Yesterday was my first day of a semi "cheat". My kids and I were traveling by the frozen yogurt store, and they did have sugar free yogurt. So I bought some and only after buying it did I learn the carb count. Approximately 60 carbs for what I bought. Ugh. I had already bought it though, so I ate it.

Other than a little cheese and a couple of tomato slices that was all the carbs I had yesterday and it was a very active busy day with a lot of walking and getting in and out of cars, so I figure it didn't do too much damage.

I just don't want to make such deviations a habit. I think I lose better with straight meat and veggys.

Wowwy!! Congrats Sherry! That's an awesome week! Keep up the good work...I'd be happy with just 2lbs/week of cold hard fat! I miss my early Atkins days when the scale was just flying down...awhhhhh. Again...congrats!
