Default What keeps you motivated?

For me, seeing the scale move downward even a tiny bit keeps me motivated.

Knowing I'll have less back pain keeps me motivated, too.

Next month I will be celebrating my 4 year "Atkinsversary". What keeps me motivated is, no longer being 245 lbs. wearing a size 3X I also actually look forward to doing my walk aerobics I'll be 47 years old in August and I feel better now than I have ever felt in my entire life!! My parents have been very supportive of me on this way of eating from day 1 and that means a great deal to me. I also have the best & most supportive DBF on this earth

I'm very motivated by the scale too, but also the way I feel. I have so much more energy and feel so much better when I'm on atkins. Also fitting into smaller clothes is a great motivator.
And of course reading posts by successful people, like Jerseygrl, is a big help for keeping motivate!

I do a couple of things

-I have a clear jar and every 5 llbs lost I put a small ball in it.
-I have a bunch of motivational quotes pasted around my room (like I put a sticky paper on my bathroom mirror so everyday I wake up I see it)
-I have close friend and she's the only one who knows I'm on the diet so whenever I feel like I'm about to fall off the wagon I call her and she keeps me on track.
-Coming on here motivates me (lol)

The mirror...I'd have to say! DD9 used to call me "jiggly butt"! As my watched those dimples disappear one by one until one day...BAM...no more dimples and I ran into DD's room butt naked and said....ha!...NO MORE JIGGLY BUTT! So there...that's my motivation...my 9 yr old! Joyce

Hey Breathme...glad to see you hear...how ya doin girl?

Mine is not only the scale and the looser clothes, but when people say wow you look good, or you look like you lost weight! I LOVE THAT!

I definitely have to say that 3FC is a huge motivator. I see all these wonderful stories, goals reached and before and after pics. Its just so encouraging. I am on my 25th day on Atkins and loving it. I am learning more as I go along. My DH is also a great support and also I told all my family and friends so they also keep me motivated somewhat.

Thanks 3FC

One of my motivators is that I have a doctors appointment April 30th and at that appointment, I want him to take me off at least one of my blood pressure meds.

It's also fun to only have one pair of pants that fit and they are starting to get almost too baggy to wear! I'm actually looking forward to a bit of a shopping spree.

Plus, I feel absolutely fabulous!

I am pretty much stressed out right now. School finishes in 3 weeks and you know what that means! Final essays and final exams. That's the reason why I've sorta been MIA lately..lol

My mother said I looked thinner so that also motivated me.

I have a heartbreakingly ghastly picture of myself as my desktop wallpaper on my laptop at home. It's in profile, and it was taken at a party in December of last year. I look like a WHALE. And every time I switch on the computer and see that picture, I think "**** no. That is not who I want to be. That is not what I want people to see." It makes me determined to keep on truckin'.

Also I have a list of dates and target weights stuck to my fridge, and I cross them off as I reach them. And surrounding that I have photos of me, and photos of Drew Barrymore (selected because we're about the same age, and we ARE the same height, and similar colouring etc - I don't have any pictures of me looking slim, as I've been overweight since I was seven, but this is to give me something tangible to aim for).

And like the other folks said, this place really does help keep me motivated. So does the pleasure of trying on clothes that WERE too tight, and finding that they fit. Or knowing that they will fit in 3 or 4 weeks.

I had a friend who sorta did the opposite. She was doing the Dr. Berenstien diet and she had a picture of Tyra Banks as her desktop background.

I'd have to say the stories and people on these sites and my ability to do more stuff then I use to do keep me motivated.
