I agree with the advice that is given here, and over my years of trying and failing, you finally find out what works and what doesn't, I guess.
I'd follow the advice of the people who have been successful, take it all in, and then make a decision about what you will do. There's TONS of success stories here and they all seem to have similar advice.
I don't drink alcohol at all, so I am lucky not to have to include that in my calories. If I did though, I'd probably limit it to one day a week, maybe 1 or 2 drinks.. that's it. If your friends are true, they won't care if you're drinking diet coke, water, or whatever. Easy for me to say though, I suppose! I don't drink.
We all have our 'trigger' things, and personal hurdles. Your body is like a big machine and calculator all in one though, you can't fool it. Try eliminating some of the bad stuff, and switching it with good stuff. Even SOME change is better.
