Nutritional info for sushi?

  • I put a picture of tonight's dinner up on flickr here.

I'm having trouble figuring out the nutrional info. It's 4 pieces of salmon & cream cheese roll and 4 pieces of salmon & avocado roll. All 8 pieces weigh about 7 ounces.

    Thanks!
  • Is that what is called a Philadelphia roll? All of the calorie guides provide such a wide variety of info on sushi. I found an article about this that says the Philadelphia roll (salmon, cream cheese, avocado) contains 319 cal per serving, but who knows how big a serving is.

Yet this page http://www.bigy.com/content/seaf/nutr/sushi_nutr.php says it is 65 calories per 3 slice serving.

Maybe someone else will have more accurate info. I'm very curious about this
  • I liked that article

I figure a serving of sushi (at least the rolls) = one hand roll (which is usually cut into slices). A serving of ebi (shrimp) is two pieces.

And the calories can really vary - for example on California roll, depending on how much avocado is used, and whether the crab is a whole piece or was made into a 'crab salad' with mayo. Different places will use different amounts of rice (some use TOO much rice IMO). It's a tough call because sushi making is almost an art form, and every sushi chef is an individualist (at least at restaurants).
  • They're almost philly rolls. It's actually 4 rolls of just salmon and cream cheese and 4 rolls of just salmon and avocado. I guess I'll just have to break it down by ingredient and try to estimate amounts. I'm really horrible at that, though. Normally, I'd just do my best, but I'm going to the doctor soon and want to give her some accurate averages.

From the picture that I linked to in the first post, does that look like about 3/4 cup of rice total? And maybe 1 1/2 oz of salmon? Those are my best guesses.

    Thanks!
