  • Good Morning "outwitheold", I don't even have a stressful life. I just stop sometimes I had a really pretty good day yesterday inspite of having two meetings that amounted to almost nothing.
Right now I'm waiting for the fella to bring us a load of wood. I should be able to use lots of calories stacking that!
You're are very right ... we should come here, it's very motivating. Hope to see yu around.
  • Susan

Ohhh yeah.... I remember those days of loading wood when I was younger. If that doesn't burn calories NOTHING will! lol. I use to help my father out and cut and stack it because he has a bad back. I don't have to do much of that here...the weather in the South is crazy....one day it is cold then the next your wearing short sleeves. One christmas we were all outside wearing shorts in lounge chairs! lol.
  • Hello everyone and welcome newbies. The holidays are here and as we all know its tough and I am right on track with everyone else. Trying to make good choices is tough. I try to at least be good when I can but not prefect as it is christmas. So many good things to eat naughty and all! I have tried to stay balanced with having a healthy start to everyday with a nice breakfast. Most of my lunches are healthy if I go out for lunch I switch the calories around with my evening ones. That way it kind of balances out. I have eaten some peanut mm's and a few cookies to say the least but all in all seem to be okay. My clothes still fit I haven't done the white square thing that hangs out in my bathroom closet. I figure time will come soon enough meanwhile I am just trying to stay stable. What else can on expect around the holidays. Merry Christmas to you all and lets get real serious after January 1st. New goals for me before my Hawaii trip in March.
    Carol
  • I did get at stacking that wood yesterday. Hours of it but then I was behind with my Christmas knitting and sat up in the evening doing that. By 10 I was scrounging for something and had peanut butter and honey on toast!
I still wound up with a calorie deficit tho' so I'm all right with that.
    Hawaii Carol, yummy!
  • Wow Carol....got room in your luggage to store someone??? hehe. I bet that is going to be a great vacation! I know what you mean about the snacks, etc at christmas time....whewww... It is times like this that really bring out the willpower in us all .

Susan....I think that is cool that you knit. I have always wanted to do that. I just am at a big loss on where in the world I would begin! . Maybe one of these days I'm gonna break bad and go buy me the supplies .

Hope everone had a very Merry Christmas! (wheww I'm glad all that shopping is over with!! hehe)
  • There are some wonderful resources for knitting on the internet. I think there's even one for "dummies"! My daughter just hung over my shoulder once in a while and could knit when she left home but she's really learned alot from her coworkers. She works in a big discount place that sells a ton of crafty things. Some stores give lessons.
BTW, I did not get the second afghan done. So I owe a nephew and his wife a late Christmas gift.
Does everyone have lots of nice lean white turkey meat left over?
  • Girls hey now I knit too! It is something I have done for many years and picked up from my gram. I am still working on a late christmas gift for my little grandson. It is a sweater with Thomas the train and Percy on the back of it. I didn't finish it before christmas but will by New Years. I also crochet and made my daughter a hat and scarf it was really quick. I like to do both. Nice to hear others now a days are into it too! I am going to make a friend a sweater for next christmas as a gift. She always says how much she loves mine so I will make one similar. The yarn is expensive like 6.00 a small skien but if I pick up one at time with a coupon it won't be so bad. Knitting or hand work keeps you from snacking it is a good thing for us all to do. Learning can be done by looking it up on the internet under google or what ever you have. Then print it up go get some needles and make a scarf to get started. At first your stitches may be a bit small or large but with practice you'll come right along. Good luck! Any questions let me know I'd be glad to send you info.
Today I am off to buy some fresh veggies and fruit and to work out after work. I am going to try to get back into shape here. I realize we have New Years yet but in between I need to shape up a bit. Hawaii is my goal and I NEED to get myself fit and trim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had room for everyone to go!
  • Knitting has become very popular again. I find it a wonderful accompaniment to watching TV in the winter. And all the great scarves people are wearing these days are a good place to start.
I had a much better day yesterday except for some shrimp dip and chips later at night. I still have a calorie deficit! But my rings feel better so I must have dumped some water weight. The scale says 1 1/2 lbs.
  • Hi Ladies

I have been MIA for at least 2-3 months...... So many newbies, that is great!
I am doing well, kind of just maintaining since my 4 lb gain back in July on my summer vacation. It is a struggle at this point to get back into fat burning mode! I got a great set of weights and some Tye Bo DVD's for Christmas so this will be something new to jump start me. I have been mainly walking and using the elliptical I got last Christmas. I am excited about adding some weight training to my routine Last night was my second session.... Any advice for a beginner? I did every thing I could think of and did two sets of 15? I also did some squats and calf stuff.... I do not know how many sets or how many reps per set.... 15 seemed good with my 5lb weights.

Holly I miss talking to you and hate to hear you are still dealing with home issues. I can understand what you are going through and am hear if you ever want to talk. Send me a privet message and I will email you. You do not have to deal with it alone

I just wanted to check in and let you all know I was still working at it and doing well. I see everyone is doing good too.

Hi, cacmsc, SusanB, amy, Lis glad you are all sticking with it and Hi to all you newbies.... This is a great place for support and info!

Hope you all had a great Christmas, we did.......

    Amie
  • Hi Amie, I kinda like weights too. I learn a lot from the LWL threads.
  • Hiya Amie... Sounds like you are right on track and keep up on the good work!!! Thanks for welcoming me (the newbie)

Susan....It is kinda funny you mentioned scarfs.... I just got back from Atlanta and come to find out....lol....I was told how much they were in there!!! I was thinking...hmmmm....guess I'm a bit behind the times...lol. If I could atleast accomplish a scarf I would be thrilled.... Think I will make that my first test (cross your fingers)

cac....yeah....well....I was hoping you had room in your luggage for me...lol... I just know you will reach your goal before your vacation.,..you sound sooo determined....you go girl...you can do it!!! .
  • Amie welcome back and its good to hear from you. We can all jump start together here. I am trying also to get a grip on the upcoming year. I have slipped a bit but ready to get up and make a move in the right direction.
Holly a new year is coming up and hopefully things will look up for you. I have had some issues in my past and one thing that helped was doing things for myself. It made me feel more in control of life and that was helpful. Good luck and keep in touch don't ever feel alone their is a lot of us out here! Keep going on your health cause that is so important for your overall well being.
Knitting and crocheting are helpful to keep our hands out of food and yes its all coming back. Thats a nice thing. My daughter picked up her new scarf and hat I made her while I was at work yesterday. She called me from her work last night to tell me how many folks complimented her on it. It was nice to hear her say I told them my mom made it. One lady couldn't get over how cute it was. I felt proud of my project and it helped me stay away from food. I am working on a little sweater which should of been done before christmas. Hopefully it will make it before the little guy returns to school next week.
Outwith- thanks for your vote of confidence I am trying to get myself motivated!
Keep up your efforts girls we can do this!
  • Hello,

Well my new work outs seem to be doing good. Last night did a 55 minute Tye Bo Cardeo work out and it was so fast! I am just learning the moves.... LOL. The night before did the weights. I am taking tonight off. I have worked out good and hard for 3 days in a row and my legs and arms are very beat! I will do some good work outs over the weekend.

Now that Christmas is over ladies we are on our Summer count down! Living in the south I only have like 5 months to get ready for summer clothes.... I have 20-25 lbs to loose and I will be done. I really am hoping that I will reach my goal in 2006. June will be 3 years for me.

I wasn't sure if I should mention this or not but being only 5' 3" and over 200lbs at one time, can emagine all the rolls of loose skin in my tummy. I carried all my wieght in the tummy area. Well I have been to see a local doctor and have schedualed a Tummy Tuck for February 9, 2006. I have to do this to get rid of all this skin. It is never going to go away. It gets in the way when I bend over, makes my paints fit bad and I can not jump up and down like jumping jacks because it hurts. I have done over a year of research on this and the doctor and at 32 and very healthy I feel like it is time for me to do this. I think it will be worth it in the end. I hate looking in the mirror after loosing so much weight and seeing those rolls of skin hanging down! I am a little scared but excited too. My mom will fly down for a long stay to help me out and that will be nice.

Have a great weekend! Stay OP and move as much as you can !......

    Amie
  • Hi to all of y'all!!
My name is Trina and I shall be joining you here if you will have me!
I signed up on these boards back in Jan. and just now posting. Bad girl!
I can say I was busy but that is just a lie!
Anyway me and some of my friends are going to start at the new year on our weightloss journey and I figured I would check things out here too.
We have added incentive if you have gains you get punished by doing your lest favorite exercise!
It helps us stay in track.
I do better when I count calories and thanks to Fitday it is so easy.
I put in what we are having for meals and I can go from there on how much I can eat!
My biggest problem is I love food, if it smells, looks or taste good I want more.
Moderation is not in my vocabulary with food!
    I need to add it!
Well if you want to know anything else feel free to ask.
    Hugs
    ME
  • Happy New Year Everyone!!

Amoses....I think if you have done all of the studies on the health risks and if you feel comfortable with the surgery and you think it is something you should do, then I think it will be a good thing for you. I've watched shows where the procedure has been done on many people and they seem to be so much happier after the healing process. I hope you will have a painless as can be surgery and a quick recovery.

Lady....whewww don't I know what you mean about moderation when it comes to food!!! It sure isn't easy at times. I have found the more and more I read...the more aware I get at what sort of foods I should be eating. I can either eat something packed big time with calories and fat that doesn't last long....or I can eat something more healthy and a bigger quantity and not be as starving in like 30 mins . I am working on that now....trying to make better decisions on my food choices.....
