  • Hello All! I am finally back in the land of the living, as far as cell phones are concerned, and can now start tracking calories again. I gave up mobile tracking a few months ago as my poor, pitiful iphone 4 couldn't handle the pressure..So, I've got a shiny new phone that needs a counting app..I've used MyFitnessPal and SparkPeople in the past..Which one do y'all like?
  • Since I eat variations on the same thing most days I used to keep an excel spreadsheet on my PC. It worked out far easier that way.
  • I swear by MyFitnessPal. Its helped me lose weight in the past and I know plenty of people its helped as well.
  • I use the free weight loss app called lose it. It has most foods nutrition facts available via Internet connection and puts me at a daily average of 500cal below my natural burn weight to lose 1lb/wk
  • I've tried them all but find My Net Diary to work best for me. I also use a spreadsheet to analyze the data over time.
  • I like the fitbit website. My fitbit broke, but I still prefer their site for tracking.
  • I use an app called Fatsecret. I really like it, I'm not sure how accurate it is (I hope they're calories burned for exercise isn't TOO off!) I've only been using it about three weeks though, so it's hard to tell. I almost got MyFitnessPal but went with this instead. It allowed me to customize my info (a lot like my fitness) it has a barcode scanner for food and I can easily add foods.

I have a sort of loose counting policy. I don't want to obsess (I have a tendancy to do that) so I aim for 1400-1700 calories a day, leave room for treats and haven't changed what I eat so much as spread out my meals, drastically dropped my carb intake, upped my veggie intake and slightly increased my protein intake.
  • I have something called the "simple calorie count". You input your meals or snacks via your own math or calculations. You can also add in exercise.
  • I use My Fitness Pal & love it. Simple, easy, & can sync up with some fitness tools & apps.
  • my favorite counting app is FatSecret
I always go back to FatSecret when I'm tracking. It lets me create and store favorite "meals" and it has an extensive inventory of foods to pick from. I have friends who use-and love-LoseIt. The thing I didn't like about LoseIt was that I couldn't enter things in advance...I like to plan the night before and then if I don't eat something, I can remove or change it. I think it's what you get used to.
  • I vote for My Fitness Pal too! I love it!
  • My Fitness Pal. Hands down, no question.
  • I use to use fit day but now use my fitness pal because it syncs with my Fitbit. Also, I love that I can scan so many foods and it immediately enters the info.
    Love that!!
  • I've started using the ap Lose it and I really like it. Easy to add my meals and keep track of progress.
  • Love MyFitnessPal. Their database is huge (though usually good to double-check since it's all user generated).

I also have an ap (free) called WeightRecord that I use to track my weight, as the MFP tracker is one of the few things I don't love about the ap.
