So, I love to cook, and I've come up with some great recipes/recipe modifications since I started dieting. Now that I've got several tried and true low-cal meals under my belt, I'm thinking of starting a blog or maybe even starting an e-book cookbook to help other dieters. However, I know that I tend to allow myself more calories per meal than most people (I can do a 700 cal dinner pretty frequently, because I prefer to go without earlier in the day to save up for something I really love.), so I was wondering what your max calories per meal is usually?
If you were going to read a blog or purchase a cookbook of low-calorie meals what would you want to see? Under 500? Under 400? I was thinking of having a variety of sections so that people could pick and choose recipes based off of how many calories they have left, but I wasn't sure how high was too high.
200-300 calories for breakfasts, 100-200 calories for snacks or treats, 300-400 calories for lunches and 400-500 calories for dinners. I may do a 700 calories dish if it was filled with healthy things like lots of vegetables or fruits. cost, number of ingredients and prep time are also things I consider.
350 calories for breakfast, 200 calories for a snack, 350 for lunch, and 500 for dinner.
I keep my meals fairly even at about 500 calories each (plus 500 calories for snacks). If I'm going out to eat, though, all bets are off.
I was in the bookstore the other day and saw a GREAT book by Martha Stewart called Food Light (I think), with all recipes under 500 calories. The layout and pictures were gorgeous and the recipes seemed delicious and doable. I'm not generally a MS fan, but I highly recommend the book.

i usually do under 200 for breakfast (incl coffee+nf milk), (250 on weekends)
300-350 for lunch
400-450 for dinner
200-300 cals a day in snacks.
so i try to keep it at
250+300+500 + all leeway is snacks.
even if you were to do 400 cal meals for lunch+dinner that would be awesome! but at the same time, you would need to consider size of portion/density of food. i would much rather eat a GIANT 500 cal meal, then a tiny full fat 500 meal, yaaa know?
I don't really have a max on a meal. Usually no more than 700 cals, but I've easily had 1000 cal dinners since I started maintenance.
I would really love to see what recipes you've come up with!
I watch blood sugar so I want it even across the day.
400 breakfast
400 lunch
400 dinner 1
400 dinner 2
then 200 snack if needed to slip in there somewhere if I feel weird.
Total 1800 cal ish, with a 40-30-30 split where possible.

My split is usually 300-400 breakfast, 300-400 lunch, 500-600 dinner.
Here is mine! And yes, more recipes would be wonderful!
Breakfast: 200-350
Lunch: 400-500
Dinner: 400-500
And the rest are snacks (anywhere between 50-200 depending on what I've eaten beforehand.)
400 for breakie, lunch, dinner and nightly dessert...
