S/C/G: 198/170ish/160-???

Height: 5.6 on a tall day

Default So, I'm not hungry....really

I eat my planned breakfast/snack/lunch (possible 2nd snack) and dinner. I've written this before: the work week plan is easy--weekends, not so much. However, I realized last week that cravings are gone, and I don't have an appetite. I eat, and the food is fine--I have no complaints. Its just weird to find that I'm not hungry and there isn't anything in particular that I really WANT to eat. This or that, I don't really care what dinner is.

Dinner is the meal that is left up in the air and decided in the moment. While there may be a skeleton of a dinner plan, I can always grab something from the freezer and/or pantry and throw a meal together. I could just as easily skip the meal altogether right now, except I know I need to eat and I don't want to get physically sick (although I know I wouldn't waste away to nothing--I'm far from that). Its just weird.

I'm imagining this is how truly skinny people live their lives--never really concerned with eating. I did have a coworker who was lean/thin who would "forget to eat". I won't forget...just don't have an appetite...and "dieting" is getting easier. Anyone get this way? On the one hand, I'm thrilled, but on the other, I find it so very odd, strange and foreign.

Well, when I used to be anorexic (and I'm not saying that's where you're headed) I would just get on autopilot. I would think about food, but my answer would just be no automatically and that would be the end of it. The last time I dieted, after about 2 weeks, the same thing would happen. I would follow my plan sort of on autopilot and it was incredibly easy and I lost weight really well. Honestly, I'm jealous I want to be back at that point. I think you might be right about skinny people. I think they just don't think about food very often... could be true

Wow, I wish I had your problem OP...that happened to me one time when I fasted for a day. I figure I drank so much water (72 oz) that it just filled me right up

I sure get full faster because of all the water I drink and fiber I get. Sure wish I did not crave sweets as much. As far as forgetting to eat- never.

It ebbs and flows. There are some days or weeks where I lack hunger and am perfectly content (usually am also quite busy and have some stress). There are other days where I am hungry as a horse and even 1800 seems WAY too little- those days are connected to my ovulation.

I have the occasional day where I'm really not all that hungry, but those are few and far between. I've skipped meals before, but usually because I'm either too busy or just having fun (assuming I'm not eating due to being sick)...not that I "forgot." I really don't get how someone can "forget" to eat...but I guess that explains why I'm not a naturally thin person!

I do kind of know what you mean about food just being food and not really caring what you eat sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I still have plenty of cravings, but yeah, there are times when I really don't care what we have for dinner, or we go out and I don't care where we go. Back in the day, I almost always knew what I wanted! (Chinese! Pizza! Mexican!) Sometimes now, thought, it's just "Meh. Whatever."

Ditto to this. I'll have a week or two with being really impartial to eating in general. Then out of the blue I get huge cravings and I find myself opening the fridge all day long. On those days I try to get out of the house to get my mind off of food!!

I wish that were my problem!!

I have felt that way in the past, but it's mainly because I'm in "strict" mode where I'm actually not looking forward to eating because what's on my menu just isn't that enticing (not that it's bad, but it's not great). However, most of the time, I try to ensure that I am eating what I enjoy, so I tend to want more of it. I have to control my portions because of that.

When I started counting calories in July, I thought I'd shoot for 1500 a day. Within a week, I found I could easily eat only 1200 a day and sometimes as little as 1000 a day. I think restricting your calories messes with your hormones a bit so your hunger signals get whacked. I'll go for days or weeks rarely feeling hungry (although I make sure to eat 1200-1400 cals since I exercise every day) and then I'll have a ravenous period when I feel like I could eat everything in the house.

Sometimes, on the weekends, I get busy running errands and don't eat until mid-afternoon but I never "forget" to eat!

Early in the week I felt like I was starving on 1400 calories. Yesterday I was fine with 1100. It just depends on the day and what I did the day before. I think what I am going to do is 1200 calories four days a week and 1500 calories three days a week because I've noticed a pattern of being really hungry the day after I do strength training.

I read on another forum that strength training burns food whereas cardio burns fat, so it makes sense that you'd be hungry the day after. I usually eat more the day I lift weights, but maybe I'll do that the day after instead.
