Default Best calorie listing app for Android?

Hello everyone

I missed everyone here and I need to start posting again. I have managed to gain a bit more weight since I have been here last but I am not stressing this time since I know what I need to do! Time to get tough .
I just got a new Android smartphone last week (Samsung Infuse) and I am looking to download an app that has a thorough listing of the calorie count on not only common foods, but also restaurants that are in Canada. Can anyone suggest a great app that will accomplish this? There are quite a few floating around but I want to use one that you ladies have had success with, especially if I have to pay for it. I don't mind if it has to connect to the internet to work. I already downloaded the fitness pal calorie counter app and I am now using this program on my laptop as well. I like it because it has a pretty good database of foods but I am still getting used to the change over from Fitday where I had more control over customizing entries but it was more work to input new foods.

I am glad to be back because it means I am on track

On the iPhone I really like the myfitnesspal app - I find it has entries for almost all Canadian foods and restaurants. They have an android app as well - but I don't know how it compared to the iOS app.

You could also try the sparkpeople app, I assume there is one for android - I didn't like it that much, but that was a while ago I tried it. The website has a large database of foods as well.

Thanks I have been playing with the myfittnesspal android app and I think it will meet my needs for both a calorie counter and a searchable index. I was thinking I would need something separate to find the calorie count of less common foods but it does seem to have everything. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't automatically show the amount of calories for each food. I really LOVE the barcode scanner. I used it to enter my rice cake snack today. It can't get much easier than that

I am still open to suggestions for a calorie database that automatically shows the calorie count and serving size at a glance so I can decide whether to eat that food when I am not home.

I haven't found a good app for android and I've tried so many! They're all cumbersome and poorly-designed it seems (a fact which seems to plague android, despite my love for the OS).

I found that the best and quickest way was to just use the search button and search "calorie count for ______" and usually I would find several results in google right away and I could take the averages from all of them.

I have to say that I'm loving the myfitnesspal. This is the first time I've really kept track of calories and I find it makes things way easier. As stated, the bar code scanner is gold.

I also like how it'll project what you'd weigh in five weeks based on your intake for the day.

It's certainly been helping me to be accountable and see some results after a medical plateau and then free-fall.

Oh that is too bad That is the main reason I like it on the iPhone. Hopefully they add that support soon!
