Peanutt, I really like your quote.

I'm a "feather" and trying to lose weight at a 1100-a-day balance... believe you me, it's rough. Don't do it if you don't have to. I was on my feet for about 5 hours today, walking to brunch with friends (20 minutes + 15 minutes with T in between, times two) and then shopping, and I thought I'd still try to do the 1200. Needless to say, after finishing only about 1000 by 10 pm, I still failed miserably with an unplanned binge on cookies, cereal, and toast-with-Nutella. In the end... I ate about the right number of calories anyway, though not from the right sources.

Your body will signal you hard if you punish it too much... I learned my lesson today and will be eating more on days I do a lot of physical activity. It's remarkable how well our bodies are attuned to our real caloric needs if we pay attention.

In addition to what others are saying you may also want to pay attention to what you are eating. There are times when we have to switch up our carb, fat, salt intake of course this is different for every person but just something to keep in mind! Good luck

I do between 1300-1500 a day. I worked down to that. The first month lost 15lbs and I was eating between 1700-2100 per day. I think I loss so much because my body was just glad that I was doing SOMETHING. I agree with what has been said. Be patient with yourself. I have chronicaled my journey on my blog almost from the beginning. It is an amazing motivation to see where I have come from. Pound by pound. Perhaps you may want to do the same (Journal, blog, whatever. )

I definitely know how being busy can move us to buy pre-packaged foods like Lean Cuisine. But perhaps moving away from processed foods and towards whole foods (fresh fruits/veggies/meats prepared at home) will really kick your weight loss into gear? I'm currently on 1200 calories daily and find a big difference when I eat "clean" versus when I eat packaged things. Lean Cuisine contains a lot of chemicals and sodium, which can make your body retain water, among other issues.

What I usually do is cook a big portion of some sort homecooked food (lentils, chili, stir fry, casserole, lasagna, etc) made from fresh vegetables, whole grain pasta, etc on Sunday nights. That way I have an easy dish I can grab for dinner or pack up quickly for lunch when I'm in a hurry. That interspersed with some salads that can be easily prepared too (veggies cut up at the beginning of the week, in a Tupperware to quickly assemble a salad) for variety helps for fast, healthy, "clean" food without having to rely on processed/packaged food.

Just a thought. Good luck!!

That is so true. I am a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic so dieting can be difficult because my BS drops sometimes. I am on a 1200 a day diet but listen to my body and my blood sugar levels (test a lot) and if I am not hungry I don't eat and when I am or my bs are low I eat more. I am keeping an eye on calories but don't worry as much about my daily intake than my average weekly one that averages 1187 cals. Some days when I'm not hungry I eat 800 and on other days 1500 or more it seems. I do track them all but its not on purpose it averages really its just because my body seems to like it that way. If my body wants food I feed it because I don't want to end up in a hypo.

Don't get down on yourself girl. It's a tough spot to be in, but you will perservere. When you feel frustrated, just remember, nothing in life is worth having if it's not hard to get. Or something... I'm just taking one day at a time... that's all you can do too. It's going to work and we will both be skinny babes!!!

I swear I am very uneducated. I have counted calories many times. The last time I lost a massive amount of weight I counted calories, but was even more uneducated than now. I thought that the less calories the better. So, I started eating no more than 600 to 800 calories a day. Basically nothing. Slim line there. So, of course I dropped alot of weight but yep.. it all came back. I'm not real sure, other than my doctor, on where to go to see how much I should be taking in. Any ideas from anyone??

Hey Breanna, I was wondering how the 1800-2000 calories a day is working for you? Back on 1-31 you said you were going to start eating that amount because 1200 was not right for you. It's been almost 4 weeks now, and I was wondering if you have noticed a big difference on being able to stick with it. Is it so much better now?

Just curious.
