I am a calorie counter, so I don't know if it's OK to post this here or if I should have put it in the food section.
Out of the blue yesterday I got a craving for either a bean/cheese burrito or a chili cheese burrito. I have never had a craving for this before, so this is weird.
I used to get the chili cheese burritos from Taco Bell. I looked at the Taco Bell website and I can work in the calories, no problem. The problem is the sodium. Wow!
Does anyone have a recipe for a low calorie burrito. I am actually hesitant to buy everything to make one because I am the only one in the house that would eat it. Maybe I should just get one out. What would you do?
I am hoping the craving will just pass. Yesterday it was on my mind pretty hard. Today, not so much so. Maybe if I wait another day it will pass altogether.
The funny thing is that I don't really have alot of cravings. So this kinda shocked me yesterday. TTOM is getting ready to start next week. Maybe that's why I got the craving.
I always crave high sodium foods when TTOM is on its way. If you are still craving it, get it and just drink some extra water to help wash out the sodium.
if you have a chipotle's near you, get one of their burritos. SOO good. they are high in calories, (about 800) but if you eat half, it's pretty decent.
Hi Everyone! I want to thank you for the recommendations again.
My craving did pass the day I made my original post. I still went and bought an Amy's Beans, Rice and Cheddar Cheese Burrito.
I had the burrito today for lunch and it was very good and I really enjoyed it. Normally, when I go to Taco Bell, there is so much sodium in the food, that I can literally feel my fingers swell as I am eating it. Not fun at all.
I did not have this problem with the Amy's burrito. My store didn't have the low sodium variety, though. I had the regular one. I will buy these again.
I see that your craving has passed and that you found a solution. I just wanted to add my experience in this burrito discussion.
My boyfriend and I do what we call "burrito mania" nights. We'll buy a 20 pack of those La Tortilla Factory Low Carb whole wheat tortillas at Costco. They taste great, have only 80 calories each for the large size and have TONS of fiber in them. We'll make up a big pot of burrito filling - usually fat free refried beans, cooked brown rice, baked tofu, salsa, a can of tomatoes and veggies and spices. He puts cheese in his, but I don't. We wrap up a bunch of them and freeze them for quick, easy filling lunches. Mine are usually around 200 calories each since I don't put any cheese in them. They taste great, are SUPER healthy and filling and since you make them yourself you control the sodium. Then, you have a bunch of them in the freezer for easy thawing later. I LOVE burrito mania night! We also do different flavors - like a peanut sauce one with veggies and brown rice. YUM!
