Default vacation eating

I'll use this thread as a log for my eating while travelling this weekend. This trip is a trip down memory lane for me.

Yesterday was my first day, I flew out last night. I had monitored my eating for the day to keep the calories low and save up some for dinner which would be at the airport post security. I chose a roastbeef panini (no mayo) and at first I ate half but since I was still hungry, I saved the other half and drank my water hoping that my stomach would catch up to my brain and I wouldn't be hungry any more. I ended up bringing the other half on the plane and about half way thru the 3 hr flight I ate it. I was still hungry. That being said, I came in 1550 cals for the day. 1600 is my max. I also didn't exercise, because of the trip.

Today I got up in NYC and headed for grand central station to catch my train. I meant to get something to eat, but wasn't hungry and just forgot. Today was a gorgeous day in NYC and instead of heading right out of town, I decided I'd head down to central park (on foot, luggage in tow) and have lunch. Well, I got there, and still didn't feel like eating.

I eventually made it to my final destination this evening around 5pm and I realized that I still had not eaten all day. I went to an old fav restaurant and I got an order of fried clams (no sides, just the clams). I ended up only eating half before I wasn't hungry. So, by my best guestimation I had about 1.5 cups of them, and based on Livestrong that is 900 cals. I'll call it 1000 just to be safe. ANd other than water and diet coke, I've only had a diet ocean spray (10 cals). Not to mention the walking from Grand Central to Central park, around the park for about 1/2 hr then back all while carrying a backpack that is all of 10lbs+ and towing a luggage bag. Nothing real strenuous, and probably less than 3 miles of walking I'd guess.

The splurge on the clams was just a splurge, its something I don't get at home. It was a nice treat to have and I certainly had the calories to spare. I'm glad I was able to throw 1/2 away too.

I picked up fruit and yogurt for breakfast in the morning. Lunch and dinner will be out with friends. I think I've proven to myself today that I've gotten into the swing of this diet thing.
