I use the calculator and food log and Nutrimirror and eat around 1200 calories each day. I spread them out pretty well so I won't ever feel ravenously hungry and be inclined to binge. Lots of lean protein and fiber helps.
I have previously been zig zagging with 1800 calories...i have just reduced to 1500 calories with zig zagging...my scales are showing a good loss this week (3.5 pounds and weigh in day is tomorrow) so hopefully a nice healthy trend of 1-2 pounds per week stays around for a while
I go between 1200 to 1800 depending. I'm at the point where I'm not overly concerned about precise numbers, as long as I stay within 1200 to 1800. Preferably around 1200 to 1500, but there are times (I'm underage and have to eat what's put in front of me) when I have to eat foods that are more calorie dense, and those are the days when I either choose to have a little more of a lesser evil just so I'm not practically starving myself.
I figured out that I would need to eat 1800 calories to maintain 170 lbs so I decided that would be a good number to try to get to 170. I dropped that down to 1600 a day but usually only eat 1200-1300. If I eat close to the 1600 one day I usually try to eat less the next day as I had read that if you eat high calories one day it gets your metabolism running to try to use up the calories and if you eat low the next your metabolism is still running high from the previous day so it burns a lot more fat. It usually works well when I alternate high and low calories.
I eat below 1400 each day except for Sunday which is my free day, but i find myself still counting calories in my mind . I write down every day except Sunday what I eat to and send to a friend at the end of the week.
This was interesting! Everyone is pretty much on the same page! I love it! I'm right there still as a maintainer. I only consume approx 1300-1400 per day to maintain my weight. Calorie counting is the best, but you gotta be prepared to do it for the long haul! If I ever go up to 2,000 cals, I can definitely feel it on my body the next day.
MyPlate has me eating 1600 calories a day to lose 2 lbs per week. I'm usually a little bit under that amount and sometimes go a tad over (by less than 50 cals).
I am allowed as much as 1940, but on average I eat between 1700-1800. I have been doing this for 10 weeks and have lost 24 pounds - so an average of 2.4 pounds per week.
I've been trying to stay around 1400-1500 per day. Which seems very HIGH to me.
However, after speaking with my trainer and a nutritionist, they are trying to convince me that I need to eat more (2100-2200) to lose weight.
*sigh*
At the moment, I just can't wrap my mind around that. Sure. I'd love to eat more. But, I'm barely losing now.
*feeling a bit disheartened*
Anyway. Best wishes to us all.
I can totally relate to it all being confusing. I say it is all about trial and error. Work a plan or caloric amount to it's fullest extent 100% for a few weeks then tweak as necessary. Good luck
