When in doubt, and really stuck or in unfamiliar territory -- I'll go with the children's sizes. If I have a chance, I look it up online really quick.

In general, I prefer Subway, Firehouse, Panera type "sandwich" places to "burger" places or popping into a grocery for sushi to go. More chances for some fresher veg options.

If I'm stuck with McD's, then I decide if I want to indulge in fries or not. If yes, I'll get a plain small fries and cheeseburger. If no, then I'll go with the grilled chicken sandwich and a side salad with the LF balsamic. Drink water. I try to keep the whole thing at 500 ish calories.

It's nice that they have the exchanges online...

For me the calories is something I usually can manage but its the sodium that kills me. Yargh.

HTH!

I am hooked on the Taco Bell Steak Chipotle Taco Salad. You can order it Fresco style and it's only 220 calories, 7 grams of rat, and 6 fiber. Only catch is that it still comes in the taco bowl shell, so you have to be able to resist eating that It's yummy and fills me up.

I usually stick to grilled chicken salads with low fat dressing or grilled chicken sandwiches with no mayo. At Chick-fil-a I substitute a fruit cup for the fries and at McDonald's I substitute a side salad for the fries.

Taco Bell can be ok if you stick to the Drive Thru Diet items. They are all lower in fat and calories than the regular ones.

Love Subway, there are many things you can eat if you skip the cheese and higher calorie condiments.
