My goal was to get down to 200 by Halloween. But now, I think I might as well shoot for Onederland! I can't wait to see 199 on that scale.. :crossed:
Everyone, :goodluck: on your goals! Misspriss you should be proud of yourself, excellent job so far! |
Hi everybody, first time poster here. I’ve been using a sort of mapping system by Telenav. It is really useful to me because I can see other people’s bike routes and the best part is calculating the calories I can burn. (see it here: maps.telenav.com/tnmap/). Just wondering if anybody has a calorie counter they recommend?

is that last post spam?
Jefferzzzz: *checks to see if I got the right amount of z's*, I think you can totally hit onederland by next month, October has 31 days so its in your favor at least...except for the candy innundation on that last day... I just, for the first time in 8 years, enrolled my son in daycare. I'm a single working mom, and for the last 8 years have managed to keep him at home with family and friends until now. He literally begged me to enroll him, how weird is that? most kids loathe being latchkey kids, leave it up to mine to beg to be one...lol. Anyways, this does relate to weight-loss becasue the child care center is at my gym. so, I can leave work at 4:30 as usual, and work out till 6pm when I have to pick him up. How cool is that? Even less excuses to blow off working out. |
mango30 - the after school program for your son sounds like a good idea to me. My son is grown now but I too was a single mom and having the latchkey program at his school and also the local ymca was really quite handy. I knew he was with other kids and having a fun time and I had time to myself for an hour or so each evening.
I am weighing myself tomorrow and I hope to see that little half a pound lost. 226 is one of my mini goals and I just know I will hit that mark some time this week. I will let you know....as a matter of fact I think I will let all my neighbors, coworkers and friends know too, haha. Hope everyone had a good Monday! Fall is fall swing here and the weather and trees are just gorgeous. Really good walking weather, I took a nice walk at work today. |
Hi Ladies:)
Having problems with my computer, I lost my browser firefox and safrai won't let me in to my message boards. I have 6 message boards that I go to every morning & post to,but I can't use beach bum as they tell me I need a new user name.So I sitting tight waiting for Leo to wake up and help me get back into firefox. Hope Leo can fix the problem |
Back again problem solved,Leo fixed my side of the computer as I'm not computer savvy.
I got on the scale and lost.5 so now I lost all my cruise weight[8-lbs] that I gained in way back in July.Hopefully now I can start working on my first 10% which will bring me down to 150 [18-lbs] to go. mamabekki-I'm on Halloween mini challenge for Oct on another board and my goals are the same: 1)aim for middle of my calorie range[1352-1681] 2)exercise 10% of the calories range[ 135-168 burned calories] 3)drink at least 80 oz of water daily[1/2 my weight] Hope fully I will keep to these goals now that the cooler weather is among us. emileigh-I agree with you,now the days are getting shorter and the nights are cooler the temptations of food & binges are around us. We must have some kind of plan in order to combat these wanting.Looks like you have a good plan, best of luck in your journey misspriss-Being retired we eat dinner at noon and have our supper between 5-6PM.So I stop eating around 7PM. I do drink my ice tea around 8PM,and now that winter is heading our way I will switch to f/f s/f hot cocoa instead. jefferzzzz-You'll get down to onederland in no time. Thanks,I wishing every one the same. If we stick together we will be able to get down to our goals. franklinmall-welcome to the chat. No,don't have a gadget but I use spark people to count my calories that I can recommend. Have to go,and get to the bank, see you guys later |
Today is going to be a good day! I am going to do cardio after work, from 5-6pm and then my mom is going to come to my zumba class from 6-7, so I'm going to get two hours of cardio in tonight...does that count for two workouts? Lol!
My son loved his after-school program (which is what we are calling it instead of daycare). I'm glad because I need that little bit of me time to get in shape and lose this last 1/2 of my weight. Beachbum: If IT departments didn't exist, I'd be up the creek without a paddle. Glad you got yours working for you. Hydra: Good luck on reaching your 226 goal, I know you can do this! Those little goals make it so much easier to hit the big ones. |
Can I join in? I haven't posted much on the calorie counting board.
I'm down ALMOST 40 pounds (was 184.8 this morning!), which is half way to my goal. I've never actually weighed my goal weight that I can remember, but I got down to 150 a few years ago and looked GREAT, so I think I'd try to lose an even 80 pounds. Anyway, I do a mild calorie cycle shooting for a 1500 average. I've gone through the 30 day shred and now I'm cycling through the levels during the week (1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, rest). That's me in a nutshell, and now onto my goals for October: 1) Don't eat any Halloween candy. I really don't need ANY of it... 2) Stick to my AM exercise routine -- 30DS, then a 2.5 mile walk with the dogs. 3) Try to keep up with my lunchtime walk even though it's getting cold out and I'll need to walk around the inside of the building. 4) Make sure I drink my water every day! |
Welcome Rebound! Great goals, I particularly like #1.

Hi, calorie counters!
Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum - I've registered a while ago, but never got the chance to actually get into it, I'm going to my home country in a month - so it's a great motivation for me to start counting calories and exercise, since my family haven't seen me in more than 3 years now. Do you think I'll be able to lose at least 15 pounds in 1 month if I start jogging every morning and than do some weights on my arms and cardio exercises in the evening??? And eat not more than 1200 calories a day? I'm 225 right now, so by the time I go to Russia I want to weigh 210 - so my parents don't get too terrified of my expanded body frame LOL I've gained quite a lot during 3 years in America. Do you think I can do it? :))))))

Good day all! I'm happy today, got my glucose tolerance test results back and I have officially beat my pre-diabetes diagnosis I received in 2006. In fact, my 2 hour BS was almost ten points lower than my fasting BS so I am handeling glucose quite well. Weight loss can turn these things around, I'm proof! When I was 260 lbs my doctor told me to prepare for a life of type II diabetes if I didn't change my lifestyle and lose weight. It took me a good month of contemplating his words, but then I took action, began education myself, began changing everything and here I am three years later and being told I'm healthy...YEAH! Love it!

Mango, that is great news about your good health report. It is encouraging to see that losing weight can make a difference. Sometimes it takes a scare to really make us pay attention.
We are really lucky when the problem can be handled by something that is within our control. Still so many people don't do what you did, which is to completely turn it around. You definitely deserve credit for your accomplishment. |
Hi everyone.... I've been out for the past two weeks with this cold. I think I'm finally getting over it. This one really took a lot out of me. I missed my exercise classes last week (for good reason) but I got back in to it without a problem. It was actually funny if you could see me. The classes I go to are early in the morning and I wasn't all there. When we got started there was a delay in my brain proccessing and a delay in my body going. I actually think my body started before my brain registered. ...so very interesting. I wish I could of seen it and not just feel it.
Did anyone see the episode of House? The ethical medical problem at the end of the show really left me feeling horrible. I really took that feeling into my own life. I kept looking into where I might of gone wrong with my own patients and the list of things that I needed to do became overwhelming. It took me three days before I realized that this feeling really wasn't my own. That I'm busy but can take care of that list and that I have not done anything wrong. I guess this is why I don't watch scarry movies either....I just can't handle it. well....thanks for letting me vent here. |
