I can't keep chocolate in the house - because it would be 'calling' to me. But, the local gas station has buckets of small candy - 25 kinds. When I want the dark chocolate - I go and get one or two small Hershy's Dark Chocolate Miniatures. I don't eat them in the car. I bring them home to enjoy and count the calories in for the day's total.

It's a wonderful treat for me.

As a self confessed chocoholic the best way i've found to cut back is by drinking a cup of low cal hot chocolate whenever i'm craving something sweet. I also allow myself a treat now and again.. i just buy one single biscuit or bar instead of a whole pack otherwise i know i'd finish them off!

This is what I'd do... buy a bag of fun-sized snickers or whatever and put them in the freezer. Allow yourself to have one each evening while you relax. Since it's frozen, it'll last longer. If you drink it with tea, it'll last even longer. I find that if I have a piece or two of dark chocolate (which I keep in the fridge) with my tea, it's enough to satisfy my chocolate/sweets craving.

Wanted to join in on the chocolate discussion. I have always been a dark choc fan. However, my weight problem has never been a sweet tooth but over eating issues (especially savories & portion control). So, I'm not really someone who's looking for treats.

Anyways, I wanted to say that I am working very much to increase MUFAs and I'm glad dark choc is part of that. Totally believe in the great effects MUFA has on health and fitness.

Lately, I'm treating myself a bit more. So, I have enjoyed the sugar-free puddings (60 calories) and tonight I made yummy hot cocoa (1Tbsp Ghirardelli cocoa powder, 8 oz unsweetened almond milk, splenda/truvia to taste). In a microwave mug, I poured the powder and a couple spoons of milk and stir to make a syrup. After thoroughly mixed, slowly mix in the rest of the milk. Microwave for about 1-1.5 minutes. The total calories (40 cals for the almond milk, 15 cals for the cocoa). The almond milk really adds a yummy hug quality that makes me very snuggly. Mmmmm.
