August Counting Calories Chat
I thought I start a new chat for Aug,as no one stated it over the weekend.
Don't have time to post as my DH & I are running out to have a usual petscan. will be back later to post. Oh!!! I W-I this morning and I down 1 and my new total is 170.5 Sorry for misspelling the title. Don't know how to fix it. |
All fixed. Thought that looked a little ... iffy.
|
THANKS MEG.
Now that we have a thread to chat on,where is everyone??? I just got home,as it was a very busy day in & out of Hospitals & Clinics. Tired going to rest for the remained of the day, and I'll be on the chat first thing in the morning. |
BUMPING this chat to the top, where is everyone, hope when I get back from shopping I will see someone has posted.
|
I'm hiding because its August. So lets see fall semester starts in exactly 20 days, DHs book list came out yesterday and his look to be about $438 dollars, most of which need to be bought right away, my book list comes out today and I assume my books will be about the same. I hate textbook time, its stressful.
I am 1lb away from my second baby goal, but I only have 4 more gym classes, so I am getting nervous about not being accountable for my workout, DH and me are working on that as it really does help me to be accountable. As of a couple weeks ago on my latest doctors visit I do not have to go to see her until December so that makes me happy. It was getting pricey...but based on my latest test results she was fine with just keeping my medications the same and letting me go. DH should be at maintenance weight this week, next at the latest. Its kind of a scary thought honestly because since he has been eating at a deficit he is not sure how he is going to start eating more. He does have his working out down now and will next semester as well since he just works out on days I have class. Not much going on here, just getting ready for another semester. School kind of takes over our lives when we are both going full time. |
Hi Cebsme:)
Thanks for coming on board,I can't believe that we're in Aug already where has summer gone.Congrats on being 1 lb away from your mini goal. I'm trying hard to make my first 10% which is 20 lbs. I'm not on any diet, just making sure I eat healthy with counting calories. Right now I'm on an extreme shifting of calories High & Low,which is working for the last 3 weeks lost 6 lbs so far,and will continue this way of counting until I get down to another 6 lbs. and than I go back to reg calorie ranges. Hope you and you DH have a great semester year |
I have been costuming like a mad woman. My house looks like a bomb hit it. Well, I am going to do some cleaning today because the next round of stuff I am doing is some very hard leatherwork which I am not 100% sure how to do and not 100% it will come out like I want it to, so I am going to procrastinate by playing catch-up with the laundry and dishes.
See, housework is easy... just have something you want to do less! I am stuck at 136ish, which isn't bad but I'd like to take off a few more before maintenance to give me a little wiggle room. I said something about not wanting to be fat yesterday and my DH said "well, you aren't fat anymore. You look great so shut up." hee hee. That was actually very sweet of him, he's just naturally grumpy... but then again so am I so it's ok. Anyway so 30 days till my event. 29 till I HAVE to have the costumes complete and perfect since we are driving up to Seattle from the SF Bay area. No crafting in the car, it just doesn't work unless it's very light sewing. I am a decent weight for it. The stuff that is fitted fits great. DH still has 30 pounds to lose, but his costume allows for extra weight where as mine does not. I am hoping to get a little closer to 130 then I am going to put on a very taken-in version of the outfit I was wearing in the picture that made me say ENOUGH! in February, which will obviously be the before. But, not quite there yet. Ok, time to get action packed. Much to do and no time, NO TIME! |

Thanks, Ash |
Hi Ladies:)
Looks like were going to get some rain,as its very cloudy out side.Guess I will do some bike riding this afternoon and lifting weights night. PRINNY-Glad you could make it to the chat, but understand how busy your are. You'll lose for some wiggle room,as you been doing fantastic on the weight loss scene, better than must of us.Your DH is right you've come so far,now take time and enjoy it.Have fun at the event and hope the costuming will be done by that time. INTHEMIDST-Here a link to the calorie shifting. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/calo...e-cycling.html I don't follow any diet just doing my own thing adding more calories one day and add less the next. It just a method to finding what works for you. Have a great day I'm going to leaving, and having a busy day to boot, see you gals later on this afternoon or tomorrow for sure. |
I am sore today-
Had gym class last night and hopped on the treadmill, and it was simply getting way to easy,so with permission from my doctor I have started running a little. So I cranked up that treadmill to 5mph and ran intervals, since its all I can handle right now. I upped my walking speed to 4mph. I ran a quarter mile at a time, with a quarter mile break. I went a total of 2 miles. Then did 15 minutes on the elliptical, which I still don't like, it kind of hurts my hips in a strange way. I followed that up with 20 on the recumbent bike and I was spent. I think I have 3 more classes left, I will have to check to be sure though. The battery in my GWF watch has died again, and right now we don't have really any money, so I am waiting until payday on the 10th to replace it, its going to be weird not to have that constant view of my calories burned. However it will be nice to see if I actually need it everyday, because with school I would prefer wearing a regular watch because I find myself thinking my calories burned is the time. Didn't feel like checking my book list last night, I will probably drive up and check it on friday if my husband has off, or Monday of next week when I go do grocery shopping. Speaking of groceries, we are trying to use up some of the stuff in the pantry and freezer right now so I wont be buying much. We are doing a pantry challenge, so that next month when we go up to the Sam's Club we can stock up a little more, and have room for it. Have a good day everyone. |
I need to work out more, but wonky schedules, much to do and not sleeping well is hampering. I will weigh again in about a week I guess. I am watching calories and running around a lot even if I'm not being good about actually working out.
|
Hi Counters. :D I hope that all is well, Beach Bum and that test results are what you want to see.
I have been busy. Taking care of my home and family. I have been pretty well on track, tho I had a bit of a rough day, day before yesterday. Doesn't seem to have harmed me, tho. I don't own a scale right now so I don't know where I am, weight wise but I feel smaller. My clothes are getting a little looser and I am feeling a little better. So... I will get a scale, eventually but I am not feeling a pressing need for it, at the moment. Bleargh! I am so over Summer. Anyone else looking forward to Fall? :smug: |
Yeah my schedule is completely jacked at this point. I need to get myself sorted as I must go to the craft store for a metric butt tonne of hot glue sticks.
Long story. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well! |
Cebsme, congrats on the running. That was quite a workout.
Prinny, that's a lot of glue sticks! Lol! I am doing well, getting into a routine. I need to be more consistent with my walking though. It has been raining a lot here lately and that makes it harder to get out. Well, off to work. Have a great day! |
Yeah I am casting molds of stuff I need to be flexible to fit on a costume and paintable, high temp hot glue is the cheapest, least toxic option. Just have to make sure the costume doesn't get left anywhere really hot for long period of time like in the car or whatever.

Hey girls!
Ugh this past weekend was a killer. As of last Wednesday (29th) I was down to 138 from 144. Good! I had been running almost every day along with some strength exercises and such 3 days a week. Then, Wednesday, I left for Nashville with my family to visit my aunt and uncle. They used to live in New Orleans, so they were very eager to make us jumbalay, boutin - all really bad for you, I assume. And I didn't want to be rude and decline, so I had to eat the food they gave us. I tried to eat healthy with salads or grilled chicken when we were out to lunch each day, but when I weighed myself after getting home Monday morning, I was up to about 142. Boo!! Now I have to work my way back down. I walked a lot on the trip but didn't get to run because we were on the go the whole time. And I leave for college Sunday, so I'm very stressed trying to pack up EVERYTHING I own!! I bought new running shoes yesterday and they're AWESOME! :) The only thing I'm worried about is eating next week. Because I'm going to school early for a scholars math camp, they are providing food for us so we have little to no choice. I'm afraid it will be hot dogs and hamburgers (which I don't like in the first place) but I brought yogurt, cereal, applesauce, things like that, so I can eat as healthy as possible!!! Best of luck, ladies! |
Hi Ladies:)
Nothing new,I did lose the pound that I gained the other day,so hopefully I be down another by the time W-I rolls around again. CHEB-Take it easy don't over due it on this hot dog day of summer month. What's a GWF watch I've seen it posted several times on the message boards but I don't know what its all about. PRINNY-Just running around should be enough exercising for you. If you watch your calories I don't think exercising every day in necessary. I'm exercising only on my high calorie days my low ones I do toning instead. RAIN DANCER-Not to good,my DH has his lung cancer back again. Now its back to the treatment rooms when we both thought he was in remission.Congrats on your NSV that your clothes are getting looser. That's always a good sign. When I have a NSV I tend to lose in the midsection only to gain in the boob area. So if my slack fit nicely my blouses are to tight,it just goes on & on with no hope in sight. JUDY LYNN-I like walking also, but I rather stay in the cool a/c house and ride my bike instead. ASHLEY-Sorry about your gain, but life goes on.When you get back to school eat as healthy as you can and fill up on protein, and high fiber foods to keep you fuller. |
Beach Bum, I am very sorry to hear about your DH.
|
beach bum OH NO!!!! How scary. My father died of lung cancer that moved to his brain, that terrifies me! I hope you guys get it this time. Oh, dear.
I have gotten a lot done today. I hit my calories burned goal on my go wear fit hours ago. Then again I have been up since 2AM running around doing leatherwork, casting, painting, and woodworking. I'm kind of tired now. Heh. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
This is the third time around having to fight with lung cancer. First time it was the left lung and they other tow time its in the right. TG it hasn't traveled anywhere else. Tiring to keep focused on my DH condition and not getting over stressed:stress: with eating everything in sight. I do this when I get nervous about any situation. JUDY LYNN-Thanks for you kind words. I really was taken back when the doctor told us it was back again,I thought it was gone forever and he was in remission. PRINNY-Sorry to hear about your father,it s tough pill to swallow when a loved one is inflicted with some kind or serious disease like cancer. Fortunately it remained in the same spot.Just doing all the things your doing is going to burn more calories. You'll get down to the 130 mark soon. Have to go,have a great morning |
beach bum, Sorry to hear of your husband's cancer return. I understand perfectly. I have the same experience, myself.
|
Hey everyone! I'm new...thought I'd find a place to plug in.
I use the GWF and sparkpeople to count. I have been doing the C25K but just took a few days off to rest an injury. Very odd that I stop running and I suddenly drop 1.5 lbs. Very strange indeed. Candice |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Got on the scale this morning and I'm holding my own from last W-I so I hoping by Monday W-I I will be down some by than. BARGO-Thanks,fortunately, it's small and we caught it right away, that's always is a good sign.He starts his treatments again next Wednesday. CANDICE-Welcome:welcome2: to the chat,I was never a runner, the nearest to that was my power walking, but I had to give that up do to a bad hip. I do reg walking now. Congrats on your 1.5 weight loss, some times the bod works in mysterious ways.My doctor tells me exercising too much gives your body mis signals, especially when on a diet, but I ditched those months ago eating healthy & counting calories is the way to go. |
Sorry I havent posted in a few days. Its TOM has come for the second time in 20 days, doctor says its because of the medication most likely and not to worry unless it happens again.
Me and DH dropped a small fortune on books yesterday. $735.00 and that does not include one of his books that we can wait to buy until September because the class starts in October. I am going to avoid the scale until the 24th, which is when my challenge ends, and school begins. DH took a new picture of me yesterday because I still don't see any weight change when I look at myself, boy oh boy did I see it in the pictures. It was great to see. Candice, welcome. Prinny, you're doing so fantastic, you will be there soon, they always say the last few lbs are the hardest. Beach, your husband and you have been added to our pray list. I don't think I am over doing it too much. All my running is on the treadmill so that helps keep me out of the heat. My Go Wear Fit Armband, it tells you how many calories you burn everyday, anyways it has a display thing that you can wear as a watch, it keeps up a link with the Armband all day, and I notice it drains the battery. It is great to be able to see that all day, however these last few days without it, I have been doing just as good if not better as days I wear it, so I am thinking about just wearing it when I am working out for now on, since I have certain calories burned goals for when I work out. |
Holy $#@!!! Today I'm down another .6!!! And I'm not working out this week! What in the heck???
Candice |
Hi! I hope you don't mind if I join in...I used to post here a couple years ago and found it very helpful in shedding pounds. I was doing great counting calories and losing weight, I ended up getting pregnant and let things slip...Anyways I'm ready to get back on track and continue with my weight loss journey.
Candice-great job on the weightloss. Sometimes the body works in mysterious ways. BeachBum-sorry to hear about your DH  |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Our annual road race is going on right now,and our town and surrounding areas are packed with tourist. So my friends and I are not going to be able to meet a friendly's like we normally do on Sunday so we decided to go in the opposite direction and see a movie called Julie & Julia. Got on the scale this morning to my surprise, I'm out of the 170's and into the 160's again, hope that # will stay for Mondays W-I. Than I know for sure the low calorie day with a high calorie day is working for me ,and I will follow the method until I reach my first 10% of 150. CEBSME-Thanks for your prayers ,we really appreciate them. Oh than that ok I thought it was out doors. I have a treadmill down stairs in the basement ,but its a manual one and it very hard to get it moving so I do my spinning on my bike instead. Thanks for explaining your GWF to me,I not familiar with all the new devices they have around these days. CANDICE-Congrats on your .6 some time the body let you lose weight with out exercising. DREAM-WELCOME:welcome: to the chat. There more people on this chat but being the summer months lots of them like being with there family's at this time, but the more the merrier. I love the counting calories, better than this diets out there. I do understand when you get pregnant the weight does add on,I have been there ages ago,and that's when my weight problem started, and didn't end there but continued with the menopause thingy. Have to get ready for church, have a great day |
I have been bouncing between 136 and 138 for a week now. I think I am going to have to force myself to workout in order to get the last bit off. It's very frustrating. I also think I am not drinking enough water because I get really busy and forget to. I have been waking up feeling totally dehydrated. I hope that is part of the problem. Eating wise I have been really good, so something is going on here.

Hello Chicks. :D
It has been a busy last few days. Had a bit of a problem binging for a couple of days. Bleargh! And I am nicely back on track for the past two. Binging is my hang up. The rest isn't that difficult for me. I just have to work past this urge. Maybe one day I will beat it. Or at least learn how to control the beast, contain it so it doesn't appear as often. :D It is beautiful here, right now. Warm but not devastatingly hot. Nice breezes and we are able to only run A/C for a few hours a day and turn it off at night. That won't last, sadly. The heat is on it's way back in to make us miserable, again. And make my electric bill go sky high. My last bill was $294.00. :( I hate APS with a passion. Beach Bum, you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad that you have caught this early, again. I hope that treatments are fully successful and he recovers soon and is healthy and cancer free, soon. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Jubilant after getting off the scale this morning a my official Mon W-I and I'mout of the 170's and into the 160's again.so that mean I lost all my cruise gain.YIPEEE!!! This new way of counting calories is really working for me,and all it is have a high calorie day and a low calorie day.[mine is 1600/600] Thanks ladies for all your prayers we go for one first treatment on Wednesday morning. Hope that the chemo is too rough on my dh like it was the last time around. PRINNY-In the summer time you need more water to flush out & clean the colon, especially when you say that you wake up feeling dehydrated is a good sign to drink more. You'll lose that136-138 yoyo soon. RAIN DANCER-Maybe you could fit those binges into your calorie count,so if you do binge again the you would feel like your losing it.Say if you eating a 1200 count leave 100 calories open for binges. Thanks Dancer for your prayers and kind word,we really appreciate both. |
HI..havent been here in months..I have completely lost focus this summer and the scales are showing it now.Im up about13lbs from my lowest.
I had been stuck for months before and just kinda gave up. We have had alot of stress but thats no excuse!! So today I am focused on me...hubbys health had been my focus. I am thinking of trying the cycling thing also.. Beach do you really only eat 600 calories some days?? Tell me what you eat and how many days of each you are doing. I need to be inspired !! Hubby got a good bill of health with his heart last week when he had the heart cath. He still has the blood clot issue and will be on blood thinners for a long time and maybe for life. His glucose is out of control and we are not sure why. He was taken off his glucose med for a few days after the heart cath and it just cant seem to level out again. Time for us both to get some exercise in. hugs to all |
I worked out, well I did half a workout. Weights but no bike. I am too tired for the bike tonight. At least I did something. Also being nocturnal because it's going to be hot this week.
bleh. |
DGRAMIE
On the low days my Calorie count is 600 c per day, for 3 days and than on the high day I go up to 1600 c for 4 days. I eat low calories foods break-veggie bacon, veggies & soy milk Dinner-Lean Cuisine Entrees supper-a salad or with 1/2 sandwich=total 630 cal on the high days 1600 I eat what & all I want, but I never get over stuffed. The best thing to do is to invest in a calorie counting book,or use one of the calorie counting web sites like fit day or daily plate or even spark people to keep track of your meals. |
Hey There!
I've been underwater at work for the last week or so. There was a huge seminar scheduled at our site for a "go-live" event on a new test we're designing. This of course means that "The Feeder" was in her glory. Banquets, cocktail parties, baseball games, breakfast chefs, cook outs, dinners out, and a booze cruise on one of the sales team guys yacht. She got to order the food for it all. And I get to say I'm DOWN a pound after it all. WHEW!!! I got out of some of it since it was my son's 3rd birthday. But most of it was white-knuckle all the way. The new operations girl said she had put on 21 pounds since joining our group in June....:?: Now there's a surprise! I did not get around to any exercise, but now that they've all gone home again, I'm hoping to get back to walking in our Skywalk. I'm just happy to get back here to catch up. Waves to all! spanks |
Hey all! I'm glad to say that I did great today. I stuck to my one pop and avoided the vending machine (which has been a struggle lately) and even have calories left over!!! :carrot:
cal:1110 spanky-very impressive-i would have gained! dgamie-life definitely has its ups and downs, good for you trying to get back on track with everything you've got going on. Raindancer- 294.00:eek: I can't imagine the elec bill being that high! Beachbum-congrats on being in the 160's |
Had a POP day yesterday. It was good and I feel great today. My scales moved downward 3lbs overnight.
I have been counting calories for a year and half and love it! I had just slipped the past 2 months bad! I had also been stuck for a few months prior to giving up. So now Im back and fully focused on me. hugs |
I know I said I was going to avoid the scale, but TOM is gone once again, and I pushed the water yesterday and stay away from too many salty snacks. I was happy I stepped on the scale this morning. 184!!!! So now I will have to figure out my next goal.
Will post more later, just got some bad news from my sister and need to see how that is all going this morning. |
HI Ladies:)
Not feeling well this morning,I think I coming down with the common cold,so I going to have [1000c ] today instead of my reg [600c]. Have stay away from my dh so he does get my germs now that he starting chemo tomorrow. SPANKY-Congrats on your down 1 lb,with all that food around. You must be doing something right, even though you didn't exercise. I bet is counting calories that did the trick. DREAM-That fantastic job to stay away from the vending machine. You must be congratulated for that alone,It takes a lot of will power for that. Thanks I hope it stays that way and not climb up again. DGRAMIE-AHHHHHHHH!!! a 3 lbs weight loss, that wonderful, maybe you don't need my way of counting after all. CEBME-Happy to hear the scale moved downward this morning and meeting you first goal.Best of everything for your second goal. |
bum, I am sorry you and your husband are going through alot. ON the bright side. woohoo. you are kicking the weight loss thing's butt!
I am still counting calories but i Think I will lower my carbs too. Anything to jump start my weight loss again! |
Stayed on track again today...it was def a struggle. DD has been very trying lately...figured this was in the years to come....not at 6 years old.
cal:1345 Great job to all!! |
