Still very busy. Down to 135.2.
One pair of size 8 black leather pants is baggy, another pair of size 8 black leather pants is still too small. I need to get into the smaller pair because the costume requires tight pants! I never got fat on my stomach till I turned 35 even when I was really heavy before. Now I can't seem to get rid of it. Usually the last 5-10 pounds is stuck to my *** and thighs but this time I have a little pouch on my tummy that will not go away. ARGH!!! |
Mornin'!
A good On Plan day yesterday. Today I actually woke up with some hope of getting out of the 130's.... Prinny--I read in Dr. Pam Peeke that she calls the "little pouch" the "Menopot"!!! That definitely describes me. When menopause hit it was like ALL of my fat cells got an order to "March" overnight. And now they're camped right on my lap. Beach bum--my prayers are with you. You've got an awfully hard time going on. As to binges, I'm trying so hard to try to limit them by having a teeny bit of what I want to binge on. Last night it was 5 Milk Duds. I think the real binges will end when I finally get sick of failing to meet my goals. Hoping I've actaully, maybe reached that point. Kind of down today. Worrying about how to meet tuition payments for my DH's last year of school and needing to sort out the student loan thing. He was inured on the job 2 years ago and we lost everything and went bankrupt. Np idea if we can even qualify for such a loan. Blech. Anyways, enough whining. This morning is On Plan so far and I have a shot at the 120's this month. A GOOD thing... spanks |
Good morning all, I am just going to jump in here if that 's okay.
I don't know any of you yet, but Beach bum, I just want to send good thoughts for you and your husband. Although the cancer is only in one spot, there has to be tremendous stress in having to go through all of the treatment again. I have visited forums here on several kinds of diets but really feel that calorie counting is what works for me. I started faithfully tracking in a little notebook about a month ago, and so far have lost 6 lbs. So far, I see some interesting things here like the idea of having low and high days-- I presume that is to try and fool our metabolism. Has anyone noticed that it really works? My thing is that I have been so hungry even on 1200-1400 calories a day that I don't think I could go much lower. I'm really hoping to stay on track this time. BTW, what does POP stand for? (I know somewhere I saw an explanation of what different acronyms mean, but there are so many threads here that i don't know if I could find it again.) |
Hi Ladies:)
We just came back from chemo center. The traffic was horrendous, lucky it was the other direction. Its was a long day as the both of us got up at 6:15 and out of the house at 8AM. We got there earlier than our appointment so the doctor didn't get to order in for the chemo from the pharmacy,so we had to wait until that was placed,After that the chemo was ready and it took only 10m in inject. we were on our way home. Had more to eat than I was suppose to on my low day but I needed comfort food in order to heal my cold and walla it disappeared.I fine again, and fortunately I stay the same. JENDIET-Thanks,we we're there before and we will battle this on also. I like counting calories, but it can be very frustrating until you find what range works for you. I was up & down on the scale, until I found that going low & high is whats working for me. PRINNY-WOW your still loosing you're going to be down to nothing:D Wish I was down to your weight[goal weight] but that's going to take time to get down that far. SPANKY-My you're like Prinny with the low weights. Thanks, we will get though this,as its our 3 time to bout this cancer. EMILEIGH-Thanks for your good thoughts and welcome to the chat. That how I feel about diets the just deprived you with there programs but counting calories you eat what you want as long as you count them. |
hey everyone.
i'm new to this counting cals things and so far so good.. i try to stay under 1500-1600 each day .. i usually workout but have had a cold for the last week or so, so i haven't been to the gym my question is, by counting calories and staying under a certain number still show weight loss, even if you are not working out consistantly? let me know, i get so down on myself when i get outta the gym routine. it would be nice to have something to still think positive about(counting)when i do so... congrats to all, your motivation and success is inspiring! |
Had a great day today..yesterday I ate to much so counted it as a high day 2000 calories and today has only been about 700 but will most likely have a 100c snack.I ate lots of veggies and am not hungry.
bum- hope you get feeling better. My hubby has to get shots of blood thinner at times and we have to go an hour away to get them and then the shot only takes a second if the meds are there. Then we have the hour trip back home..oh well its worth it knowing he shouldnt have any more blood clots. Has REtire been here lately? We use to talk about her sons wedding alot. Just wondering how she was doing. Im going for a walk before it gets dark..I have noticed its getting dark earlier already. I am not ready for fall. hugs to all |
I just went to bed last night without working out because I felt meh. Still feel meh but have to push to get the costumes done. I only have 20 days! ARGH!
Didn't weigh today I probably will in a few days. Now if the damn sun would just go down so it would cool off I can get ACTION PACKED! EDIT: Well I measured. 37-25-37 That means one inch to go! I think if I can lose the last 5 it should be sorted, yeah? |
Morning,
Stayed On Plan all day yesterday. Today the boss is coming to town and The Feeder has already rolled out the mega muffins so I'm staying away from the kitchen. Made plans to be in the laboratory [a whole different building]all afternoon when he finally arrives since she will be having some obnoxiously lavish lunch catered in... the Cold War continues. Tomorrow I'll be in the lab all day and will be safe from the feasting. Now that I'm getting closer to the 120's, I feel myself getting ruthless! Best wishes to everyone for an On Plan day!--Do we have a day in common for weigh-in on this thread? spinkyspanx |
thugzneedhugz, I am in my fifties and am very sedentary as a rule. I have lost weight by counting calories (under 1400) over the past 5 weeks. However, I have recently found myself wanting to increase my activity because I want to see faster results and I want to improve my stamina so that I don't get tired as quickly.
I think the answer is that you can lose weight by counting calories alone but that it will be a very gradual process. |
Hi Ladies
I was in a bit of rush this morning, to get to the grocery store before the heavy rains hit. DH not feeling well due to the chemo he had yesterday. He very tired and fatigued,so I let him sleep. Now that I saw Julia & Julie I have cooking on my mind and I'm going to attempt to make Beef Bourguignon over the weekend. According to the movie the recipe almost resembles beef goulash. Wish me luck. Going to watch the PGA tournament this afternoon.Hope my DH is up by than,as he love golf more than I do,but unfortunately we don't play, due to bad backs. thugzneedhugz-Welcome to the chat. All people are different its hard to say what will work for you and for others. Since I started counting calories I did exercise every day,but now that I'm weening off doing high & down day calories, I tend to only exercise on my high day. DGRAMIIE-No I haven't seen Retire posting since her DS wedding, lots of the old times are missing, but I think its the summer that causing that. Glad that your not hungry on the low calorie day, I find that myself,as you keeping the body guessing of what your up too. I know, even of the treatment is 10 mins if it helps him that the most important. PRINNY-I think your doing fine and you be where you wanbt to be in no time. SPANKY- Don't think we have a W-I day on the chat tread but we might have it on the other ones. I W-I on Monday and i use this thread for that. Have a great day, will poke in and see what your guys are up to later. |
Had a couple off days eating wise, but I'm ready to refocus. I got on the scale and I'm down a half a pound so far official weigh in day is Wednesday so maybe I'll be down another half. Been busy cleaning this morning, it never seems like I can get caught up!! I've got some clothes to return to Old Navy, but debating on whether to go. I'd be dragging the lil ones with me...for some reason that just kinda takes all the fun out of it :)
Beachbum-oh I wanna see that movie!! Good luck on your meal, let us know how it turns out. spanky-great job on avoiding the mega muffins prinny- what are you making costumes for? |
I am making costumes for a videogame convention at the beginning of Sept.
Weighed in @ 134.6 this morning. I am possibly PMSy, certainly feel emotionally wonky enough to be. I only have 18 days to get the last 4 pounds off... not sure I can. :-( |
I ended up taking the kids shopping, and surprisingly they were both well behaved!! Wonder if I can get away with that two days in a row?
Prinny-that sounds like a lot of work-but fun!! Good luck on losing the last 4lbs you can do it!!! Well I'm off to go to walmart before the church goers show up! Got to finish school shopping for my DD. Everyone have a great day. |
I didn't think this needed a post of it's own so I thought Aug Chat would be a good place. So I am down 25 lbs yeah! ...but then it was that TOM...so the week before and the week after I have been going up and down one or two pounds. I also have not been counting my calories like I should...at all. My computer was down for a bit and so I wasn't recording it. Sat dinner was about 900 cal! (I like to stay at 1300 to 1500) So you know I wasn't within plan. Monday I start plugging my meals in again! Get back on track and work at it again.
OK....I feel better. Thank you all for being there. I couldn't do it without the support of my chicks. |
prinny, your life sounds so exciting. bum, and dgramie. How is the high calorie/low calorie plan working so far??? I decided to heat higher carb/low carb and it works out to high calories/low calories. yesterday I ate 600 cs 26g carbs. I didn't want much else. Today I ate 1700 cs and alot of carbs. I was trying for 2000 but am too full. Tell how you both do yours???
I had lots of goodies. shrimp with seared veggies and alfredo sauce with high fiber spaghetti mixed with regular. (I LOVE to cook) cherries, dark chocolate ice cream bar. 1 bite of key lime pie. Dream, I know how it is shopping with kids = exhaustion. spanky, that sounds like a miniseries "Life with the Feeder". Good job on circumventing temptation. emileigh-you might benefit alot from light weight training to build bone density now. babyblues-just get right back in there! |
I didnt count calories this weekend, had company all weekend long. Scales are still down 4lbs from last week.I am trying to make this week even better than last by adding in more exercise.I cant wait to get back to my lowest. hope everyone has a POP week!
|
Good Morning Ladies:)
Sorry I was MIA over the Weekend I was watching the GPA champion golf game, and was disappointing that the Tiger didn't win. Got on the scale it morning for my official W-I and I maintained this week.I guess the old bod wants to take a rest and I haven't exercise the whole week either. So I'm going to improve my way of exercising this week so I have a better W-I next. DREAM-It was a good movie & recommended it,especially if you like to cook. I was going to make the Beef Bourguignon but it got to hot over the weekend and I was busy watching TV.I still going to try to cook this, but I'm waiting for a cooler day. Congrats on your 1/2 lb,I maintained this week, but with the heat and all I glad that I did not run into water retention. BABYBLUES-Congrats on your first 25 lb that alone is terrific. We all have day like that I fortunately don't have TOM hanging around anymore. Just go back to counting the way you were doing and you'll be fine. JENDIET-You high low carb plan sound interesting too. I might switch to yours once in awhile to keep the boredom down to a minimum. My plan for the week goes like this ,starting tomorrow after following a W-I day,Tues= I will be on a low calorie of 600 W/O bread/grain carbs Wed back to 1600 with medium amount of carbs, than back to Thurs= low ,Fri=Med[1000],Sat=high,Sun=low. I like to stay low the day before a W-I. The only think I don't like on your goodies list was Alfredo sauce. I find it too rich for me. So your a cook also,I love cooking but I 'm more of less like the 30 min kind, with less preparing. That why the Beef Bourguignon is going to be a challenge for me. |
I havent posted in a while so no personal responses.Have ready everything, good luck to everyone.
The semester starts in exactly 1 week now so its time for me to get busy. Our church didn't have its normal pot luck yesterday, even though I always go higher on calories on those days I still love it and it will probably be the last one we could have gone to for a while. With school we normally don't have the time to anything to much fun. We usually go to school, do homework, go shopping and of course Church. The only "relaxing" we normally do is church and grocery shopping. I probably wont be posting as much as of next week. I am starting my new workout plan today since I have no more college gym class. I am ready for it though. I took a week off of exercise and I miss it very much. Hope everyone has a great day! |
HI, I'm back. The wedding was wonderful and we went on our holidays just a few days later. Mom was going to spend time "at home" with my sister but she took sick while there and passed away last Monday. She was buried on my son's first month married anniversary. It was very unexpected and we're still in shock over the whole thing. I'm going to try and get back on regularly by September. I'm just not myself yet. The house is so empty now with DS married and mom gone.
I haven't read the thread but I hope everything is going well with all you calorie counters. |
OK. HOW does she do it? The Feeder continues to find new ways to foil a diet!!!
She has been the one who keeps our kitchen fridge stocked with Coke, Pepsi, etc. These are things which everyone but me uses and enjoys--no problem. I stick to black coffee or bottled water--which she also orders for us. [courtesy of our employer] This morning she sent us an email saying that the company wants to cut costs so both the COFFEE and the WATER will be discontinued!!!!! Not the soft drinks, not the hot chocolate, not the wine, not even the champaign [I kid you not here]--- just coffee and water. Her comment? : "You'll just have to learn to drink pop like the rest of us". AAAAaaaarrrrggggh! Spanx |
I would complain to the company, someone above her, If they are going to provide unhealthy options then they need to provide healthier options like water. You shouldnt have to drink soda, if they are going to provide beverages than they should provide something for everyone. Or not provide them at all.
|
jendiet My life isn't exciting at all, because I am always home working on my projects and not out doing things regularly like my friends.
retiredone I am so sorry to hear that. A good friend of mine died yesterday, he was only 34 and died of pneumonia so it was unexpected, thus I am in sad mode myself. spanky That is completely unacceptable. I would go to your manager and complain that you want healthier choices which will support good health, productivity and not getting ill. If that doesn't work go to their manager... and go to HR. Just. Ridiculous. I feel like crap. I lost a friend, I still have a lot of work to do and not much time to do it, not weighing right now because I am having bloaty allergies from **** and since neither of us can find a job we have to take money out of retirement AGAIN. Yeah, things could be better for me right now. |
The fridge is still stocked with the bottled water--only it's to be offered to guests only at this site. So I'm being naughty: my move has been to keep refilling the last bottle I had. Now she keeps checking the fridge to count the guest bottles to see if I'm swiping them. Indoor sport at it's finest!
Walked the Skywalk today. So far on plan with the calories. Weigh in tomorrow. Prinny I am so sorry about your friend--you must be in shock to lose someone so young to pneumonia. retiredone I don't have siblings but I imagine is has to be so very hard for you. cebsme Our church has a couple fabulous dinners and breakfasts several times a year. Just irresistible! Usually I just save calories up to use so I don't have to sit those meals out! Have a great day. spanky |
OMG!!! retiredone! I am so sorry for your loss. Please take time to grieve and rest.
Prinny-still sounds like fun. ok, beach bum. Well I am naturally eating only 600-700 calories on my low carb day. I try to keep my carbs below 40g. I start eating at 2pm too on my low days. So, tomorrow is my higher carb, higher calorie day. I again ate 700 cs today. 700/1700 is what I seem to be doing. That is averaging to a lovely 1270 cs per day. spanky, I would be upset. Is your office also cliquey? mine was. I hated it. I refused to become a part of a clique in an office. Can y ou bring your own water/coffee? |
Spanky- Number one I can't believe she said that! Number two, why wouldn't they cut out some of the more expensive options, does she have to have these cuts approved?
Retiredone-I'm so sorry to hear about your mom :hug:Take Care. Cebsme-good luck on school and the new workout plan Beachbum-yeah I love to cook, but its usually stuff thats not good for me. Guess thats why I'm here ;) dgramie-4lbs is great!! Keep up the hardwork and you'll be back to your lowest wt in no time. prinny- Life sucks sometimes, hang in there. I'm sorry for your loss :( For some reason I can't sleep tonight! Of course now that I'm thinking about laying down...DS is crying out for me...UGH!! Its gonna be a long day. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Not feeling well, have some type of a tummy ache, but fortunately I on my low day of eating and with chamomile tea I should be better in no time. Can't stand this heat anymore, haven't done anything but trying to stay cool. Some time today I have to get my dust bunnies at bay, otherwise DH & I will be having difficulty breathing.Have the A/C going in the living room so it will nice a cool in there when tackling them. Other than that nothing really new,Going to ride my:ebike: bike with some sort of a spinning, while watch a DVD on my computer this afternoon. CEBME-Good Luck and have a good school year.Never went to college but my sister & my DD have, and I remember the homework & studying in to the weird hours of night.Hope your new plan of exercising works around your college life. RETIRE-WELCOME WELCOME back, missed you and the old gang. Glad you had a great time at the wedding ,but how sad it must have been for you when your mom passed unexpectedly. So sorry that you had to go though with this right after you son wedding. Hope that you'll find peace and comfort soon,we do understand its going to take a while, but if you need us we're always here for you. SPANKY-NO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRINK POP LIKE THE REST OF US. Who is this woman????? The bosses daughter???? I agree with the rest I would complain about her. I think its time that you bring your own coffee thermos and cold bottles of water and put them in the refrig. That's terrible that you must supply your own needs, but if that what you have to do, so be it. Curious what type of work do you do?????that bottled water is only for the site????:?::?::?: PRINNY-Oh no,so sorry about your friend passing also, and now taking money out of your retirement saving when does this wheel stop spinning. You've gone though so much this year, try to take a breather now and than.Things will have to look brighter for you guys soon. JENDIET-Ok so you've been doing that all along, only with the carb thing.I do believe that this way of counting calories does work for me,lots of woman on another board won't go on as they feel low calories will starve the body to death. That's not true, cause you going back on the high calories the next day.It just like the WW wendie plan but they use points instead of calories. I'm staying with the 600/1600 until I get down to the 150's and than up my calories to what you're doing now. DREAM-Isn't that the true, cooking does making the pounds go up,but I love it. The only time I eat more salad than cook is in the hot summer months. Try to take a nap when she goes down for hers. |
hi..had a good day yesterday and waiting for news of my bestfriend becoming a grandmother today.I am so excited for her. They lost a grandbaby just a year ago.
gotta start exercising more..just dont seem to be able to talk myself into it. sorry for those who have had losses...hugs retire_ i have missed you. We need to catch up when you feel up to it!! |
Hey There!
On Plan day today so far. Also walked the Skywalk. Been working at another site so no contact with my nemesis. Now that I'm back to my desk here, though, a 12" X 12" X 2" inch chocolate chunk brownie has suddenly appeared on the kitchen counter...... I just ate my turkey and wait for quittin' time! Best wishes to all, spanky |
Had a bad eating day yesterday because I felt snacky. I blame the PMS. I don't go over maintenance so no biggy. I have pretty much accepted I'm not going to hit goal in the next 2 weeks but it's really not a huge deal as long as I don't gain. I can mostly fit into the pants. They are a little tight around my tummy but I can bend over without disaster so I can live with that.
This is one of my usual mid-workout posts. About to get on the bike for a while, then shower then I need to get a little costuming done before bed. |
HI:)
Had a trying day DH had to go the an emergency visit to the cancer center. The chemo he had last week brought out a radiation burn on his chest. They gave us cream to put on the rash. Have to go back on Friday to see the doctor and re-schedule chemo treatment starting next week. Was surprised with all this going on I keep away from goodies & snacks and this morning I was down 2 lbs but not going to get excited yet,as this happens to me mid week and than by my W-I it disappears. Other everything here is quite. DGRAMIE-Sorry to hear about her first grandchild.Crossing:crossed: fingers and sending [[[[[good vibes]]]]] that your best friend new grand child will be healthy, and all will be fine. SPANKY-You're doing great walking the sky walk. Some one is trying to temp you with the brownie,TG you had your turkey instead. PRINNY-You're so near goal why worry especially if your PMSing..You body doesn't want to respond at this time, you'll lose to those last couple of inches. |
Blech. Went waaay off plan after I got home last night. I swear that even after menopause, I still get that monthly "GOTTA EAT" thing that I had before--like clockwork.
Trying to reform myself today....worrying because I know that tomorrow's visit by the boss will be another round of Carb Orgies. Sigh... pankie |
HI..well my bestfriends is now the grandmother of a perfect little girl. Its such a blessing for them after the loss of one.
I had a pretty good day yesterday. I am going to have a better day today. I am thinking before each bite that goes into my mouth. Do I need this and is it part of my plan?? beachbum- sorry to hear hubby is having it rough. Glad you didnt give into snacking. Maybe the lbs will show on WI. |

Hi Ladies:)
Going to be another HHH day and today is my low calorie day,so instead of heavy meal I tending to have a mixture of fruit & veggie salad for the meal meal. Worked out on my bike for 40 mins and than on hands knees cleaning our area rugs for almost 1/2 hr, so I'm counting that toward exercising, working arm muscles. Today I taking it easy, now that I'm on the cal day. SPANKY-The older you get the harder it is to break habits. You have to find low cal snacks like fruit or veggies to nibble on. That's what I have been doing, except for Saturday Movie Night I must have my popcorn. DGRAMIE-Congrats and best wishes to your friend and you for the new baby girl in the family. Thanks, looks like the cream is working the redness finally fading. Got on my scale this morning and I stayed the same from yesterday to today. PRINNY-Sorry about your having a snacky day,we all have that, snacking is ok,but you have to snack on the right foods. |
Beach-Housework is definitely great exercising. I know today I am cleaning the kitchen (big grocery day) and I am looking forward to seeing how many calories I burn.
Spanky- An friend of mine says that she still gets monthly cravings and she had a complete hysterectomy years ago. DGRAMIE- I am so happy for your friends, this is a time when the world needs more blessings. PRINNY- ahh the snacky days. But like you said you didn't go over maintenance, and for some reason your body seems to be happy here for now. Well the next month or so for me is going to be not about getting overwhelmed and forgetting about eating healthier. Yesterday I spoke to my dad, whom has to have surgery on the 23rd of September to remove some kind of large growth from the inside of his foot. He has to be put under general anesthesia and with his diabetes and heart condition there is more of a risk to that. Its kind of difficult because I know that my dad is very scared he won't wake up from this, although I know this doctor wouldn't do this surgery if she wasn't confident. On top of that I know that because of his wishes they will not do any live saving measures. So exactly 2 weeks before my 26th birthday, I sit here today trying to help my dad figure out wills while still being strong for him. The stress usually messes up my eating, and with school starting Tuesday of next week I need to keep my head about me. |
Well I have now been up for close to 24 hours. Most of that I was running around sewing, doing errands and crafting. I have already burned off 2200 calories (MY DAILY GOAL) according to my go wear fit since midnight so I am not too fussed about the fact I am going to be over for today. I will go to bed in an hour or two, sleep 12 hours, and then be back on a diurnal schedule for a while.

Good Morning Ladies:)
Don't know if it was me,but I had a hard time getting into the 3fc board yesterday. Looks like it fixed and I can post again. This is what happened to us yesterday. We went to the cancer center this morning to speak with the chemo doctor of what will be the next drug used and when with the next treatment take place. He couldn't understand why my dh was having a radiation reaction, until he saw the just released FDA report. He only heard of 12 cases that had these reactions. Now my dh makes the 13th. Our doctor made an appointment with a lung specialized from Dana Farber Hospital in Boston to see my dh at our center this Tuesday. Now for me, on the calorie counting road to losing weight. I'm now going to decide whether I should lower my calories 100-200 calories more on this high calorie, low calorie day. Thinking about 1400/400 or 1500/500 for a while and see what happens. I think I'm stalling at 1600/600.,as my bod is getting used to this one range. Might throw a medium calorie count in between. CEBSME-I'm so sorry about your dad,but prayers are they way to go.MY DH is facing lung cancer again, and we both believe that your not alone as the Good Lord is always with us, and I will add him to my prayer list. I have one especially for my internet friends.I leaning to thought that idea also, any activity were you moving will burn calories,so house work will be added to my workout for the day. PRINNY-Best of luck with your goals and getting those customs ready. |
Well I am down another pound now. It feels good to be back to losing after a week or two of nothing. I decided to do the morning workouts through our parks and rec dept. It starts in about two weeks. 5:45am Mondays is a step class, wed Zomba and friday is strengthening (weights, ball and bands). I thought about doing a Sat class also....but I'll see if how this goes first. Baby steps...
Beachbum: Your low cal days are really low. I've never done cycling that extream. What does a typical low cal day menu look like? How do you feel on those days? |
TOM, haven't weighed in a while. Feel bloated and yucky. Working hard on the costumes.
Hope you gus are doing ok, just very bust right now. p.s. I am going to have a couple glasses of wine looks like, because booze is the ONLY thing that helps my cramps. Nothing to mix with my vodka. feh. |
Hi Ladies :)
Had a rush morning, not sure if I was going to church with the Hurricane Bill that was supposed to take the Cape & Islands for a storm, but it fizzled out to sea and we now enjoying a beautiful sunny summer afternoon. BABYBLUES-I tried the calorie cycling the reg was by have 1600 one day and 1200 the next but it didn't work so I though that maybe instead of going down 500 calories I go 1000 instead. The food I have on my low day are protein shakes[190] for breakfast and either a low calories froz entree [220] or low cal recipe for dinner at noon, and a salad or low cal soup veggie based for supper. I try to keep away from bread carbs as much as possible on those days and when I do that I don't feel hungry. PRINNY-By all means wait until Tom and the bloating are gone before Weighing In. |
