LOL, sounds like a plan! Is there a pool anywhere that you could maybe swim laps or something? Just trying to think of some other ways you could get in some more activity and enjoy yourself a little more.

Thanks! It's been my moniker since I was about 6 months old. No escaping it...

Prinny, I read about your vacation dilemma. I can sympathize with the hot and humid problem (I was raised in Houston and now live in Austin--VERY hot and humid!!!). My best suggestion is to workout outside in the morning before 8:00 or in the evening after 8:00. You will sweat more, but really, it's quite bearable. Maybe you could find a pool to walk in so it would take some pressure off of your knees. Plus, that would all but eliminate the hot and humid problem.

Fortunately, I will be going to a cooler climate for my vacation! 3 weeks in Utah to see family. I also worry about gaining some back because there is some pretty awesome food at my family functions. But it will be fun.

There is a pool here, but I have dyed blue and purple hair and my extensions are too big for a swim cap so... yeah.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Leo & are very extreme golf fans,of cause non of us play,we just watch it on TV. But yesterday they had over 6" of rain and the golf course is a mess. Don't know whether its going to be on today either.

Hi, so I'm a new girl...

I happened upon this website while surfing for info about losing weight. I really like the how positive things are here, so I decided to sign up.

Calorie counting really is what it's all about (sorry Hokey Pokey!), and I am glad that there is an entire sub-forum for us counters. Today will be my first day to count...to REALLY count!

TANNA-Welcome to the board and chat.I love counting calories and watching portions, only thing my bod haven't responded to this WOE but I going to give it more time.Lost inches but the scale is stuck.

C25k is Couch to 5K. A program I downloaded to my IPOD to help start running. It was so much fun!

MELWOLFE-Thanks for the explanation I though it had to do with running. I can't run and more, I'm lucky if I power walk..

Drive out was fairly uneventful.

VERY disappointed with hotel QUOTE fitness room UNQUOTE all they have is a treadmill and an elliptical and I can't use either of those because they screw up my knees. Yeah NOT HAPPY. I have decided to not do a weigh in for several WEEKS after I get back because I know I am going to gain back some. Southern food + no working out = FAT.

PRINNY-Sorry that thing in the exercising dept is not working out for you.The must be other means of activity around, what about bowling or swimming or dancing I sure they might have some kind of square dancing in the southern towns. As for eating just take small amounts and that it,[3 bites] of each food is not going to get your FAT.

prinny 06-19-2009 02:40 PM

beach bum I would rather gain back 297 pounds than go anywhere near square dancing. I grew up in Nashville, TN (where I am now visiting) and I loathe country/western/bluegrass with a vehement passion.

I just went and got some hand and ankle weights and am doing my old crappy floor exercises I used to do in college 36273173261n years ago. At least it's something.

The heat/humidity here is so bad this week, I am just going to do minimally what I need to do and call this trip a miserable failure and move on with my life. I have even canceled some plans I had because I just can't deal with the heat.

ladyviv 06-19-2009 07:21 PM

oh man, if I had a swimming pool, I would be thin, thin, THIN!! I love to swim. My backyard, however, is encircled with pine trees. It'd be impossible to keep it clean. *sigh*

beach bum 06-20-2009 09:08 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Looks like it going to rain again ,so before it comes & I decided to get down to the beach early and get our walking done before the wet stuff hits.

PRINNY-Sorry I mentioned square dancing, hope you found some of source of activity to get those pounds burned. Now I just the opposite I love country music, but I'm with you I hate the heat also.

LADY VIV-They say that swimming is the best exercise,as it move all muscle groups, but I don't swim anymore,,after a near drowning experience in the ocean when I was a teenager .I do dog pedal in my DD'd pool when were down there visiting.

hello all. Im not new to the board, but i am new to this forum.
I try not to limit myself to eating "just diet" foods, b/c that has gotten me nowhere fast.

counting my calories really seems to work for me. :)
I just hope I can stick with it this time.

Hello, I'm new to calorie counting and need to loose at least 25lbs to get down to my goal weight of around 150. I just started trying to lose weight this month, but haven't done so well. My son has been in and out of the hospital for chemo treatments and well, it's hard to exercise in a hospital! I started to walk laps around the floors at night when the other parents are sleeping. I actually found another mom doing the same last night. She said that walking the whole length of our childrens hospital three times is like 2 miles. So, I will be doing that for now on. Sorry so long, just wanted to pop in and introduce myslef!

melwolfe 06-20-2009 07:41 PM

Nice to "meet" you determined. I'm sorry to hear your son is sick. I will keep him in my prayers.

Walking is excellent exercise, you'll be surprised how much it helps.

dgramie 06-21-2009 08:08 PM

havent been around much lately. My weight is holding pretty steady.I am hoping for a loss this week but guess i will see in the morning.
Hubby has been really sick and we are lucky he is alive. HE has blood clots in his lung. We also found out he has heart problems and will be facing a heart cath as soon as he is stable and his blood is thin enough for his body to absorb the clots. He spent 4 days in the hospital and now is having to get levels of his blood thinner taken daily. He is only 47. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers..and to make matters worse his glucose is now bottoming since he is eating right...looks like i will be calling the dr in the morning.
Hugs

Hi everyone:
Back after just living life for a bit. My hubby's back from his expected month absense to be with his family after my father-in-law passed away. I found it very tough at the end to keep up with basics and keep the kids on track. That last week was a doosey.

I weighed in just before he came back since I had made special attention to getting back to exact calorie-counting and watching all the details. I was so disappointed that on June 17 I had only lost four pounds. It bummed me out for hours (which is LONG for someone as obnoxiously optomistic as me). However, the next evening it was my TOM (thanks for the acronym info) and I get very bloated and full just prior to it. I also realized that I had lost four pounds in three weeks as I had last weighed in on May 28. So, I feel much better. I reallly do drop down in enthusiasm when I find hard work to not be rewarded.

In that regard, I really need to focus on that. Because there are always so many reasons to not see weight loss or other "rewards" that it shouldn't be my only reason to plan meals ahead, eat healthy, incorporate active living throughout the day, etc. These are their own rewards and the scale is only one minor indicator of success. I'll be repeating that one over and over.

Anyway, I also started a blog on 3fatchicks so it's been eating up some of my free time.

Stay healthy, everyone.

melwolfe 06-22-2009 11:07 AM

Hello all, I am so aggravated. I really watched everything I ate stayed POP, worked out harder everyday and this morning had lost nothing! I should have lost 2 lbs. according to bodybugg but nothing! I know it's probably a plateau as I've lost very very little the whole month despite working out and eating right, but it's still just sooooo frustrating!

Oh well, hope all are well. Dgramie, hope things are going well for your hubby.

beach bum 06-22-2009 02:21 PM

HI Ladies:)

Real frustrating day for me today,Woke up to a another gloomy & rainy day,and than the scale showed me a maintain instead of a loss, all made it the beginning of not such a nice day for me.

We going to the Clam Shack and we're having FRIED Clams & Fries with a chocolate danish for dessert. Than tomorrow, I'm dropping my calorie count from 1500 to 1200 calories per day.

MICKEY-:welcome:to the chat,I'm another one that doesn't like the diets do's & don't.I like to eat what I want, but I'm now trying to lower my calorie count from 1500[doctors suggestion] to 1200 and see what happens in the weeks to follow.

I'm going to go down to another calorie range.Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your son having to got though chemo treatment. Its so sad for a child to go though this at a young age comparing to an older person. Sending good vibes your way.

DGRAMI-Sorry to hear about your DH hope that he will be out of danger and sending prayers his way.I was wondering were you went to. Infact some of the reg posters aren't around for some time now. My 40 Year old DD had chest pains an than had to have a heart cath and she developed a blood clot in her leg. Had to go on a blood thinner for 6 wks.

MELWOLFE-I think the month of June was bad month for the both of us. I finding that anyway. I maintained today and gained in the last 2 Mondays. Some one on another board to me to go down to 1200 instead of 1500 and that what I'm going to do, starting tomorrow. I'm going to look up some 1200 cal menu to get an idea of what and how much is eat on the plan.
