June Calorie Counter's Chat *****

:) Hello Hello

Thought I would start the new thread. Just a quick note cos I need to get off my butt and go and do something!

Happy to report I'm down another 1kg today that 2.4 in the last two weeks - my bodies just gone into hyper speed! :carrot:

lifechange 05-31-2009 08:10 PM

What a great feeling!!!! Now go for a walk.

fashinjunkie09 05-31-2009 11:13 PM

good for you! i have been on my diet for a week 1/2 now and i am down 3 lbs which is good cause my goal is 2 lbs a week. having trouble getting motivated to work out tonight, just got my 7 month old to bed and i'm exhausted... still have to clean up the house too but i am giving myself a pep talk as i sit here and write... ok im gonna go work out now!

prinny 06-01-2009 08:07 AM

Planning for my cross country trip. I leave in 2 weeks . YIKES!

This trip I am going self sufficient by taking along food and other provisions. I feel like I am getting ready for Burning Man, lol. I have GOOD instant coffee (VIA by Starbucks) and a hot water pot that plugs into my car so no more having to drink sugary Dr. Pepper for caffeine on the road. I also have a water bottle that filters water so I can actually get water at rest stops rather than having to take a flat of water like I have before.

For food I am opting for fruit, low fat/reduced sodium canned soups, crackers, breakfast cookies of some sort, instant oatmeal and whatever else I can think of in the next 2 weeks. I figure that's better than eating junk food that makes me feel like crap and will undo weeks of my careful diet watching.

Suggestions for food I can take that won't screw me up are, of course, welcome. Just nothing that requires refrigeration or cooking obviously as I will be living out of my car and sleeping at rest stops for 3-4 days each way. The hotel in Nashville, my destination, is a suites thingy with a fridge and microwave so I'll be able to be pretty good there too. Obviously not TOO good since I will be going to dinner with people and if my grandmother offers fried green tomatoes well it'd be criminal to say no!

The hotel also has a gym in it... otherwise I would be in trouble.

No WI till after TOM at this point. I hope I am 150 or below when I get around to it. Otherwise I will be really sad.

beach bum 06-01-2009 08:31 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Thanks for the start up. I can't believe it June 1st already, and my birthday will be soon around the corner and I haven't made a dent in this weight goal that's when I promised myself that I be by now. Oh well I guess I'll aim for the end of the year.

At least at my W-I this morning and I lost 1lb. I was shocked ,but than again I able to exercise again. Had a great day seeing my friends again and than chewing on the fat later at our Sunday Brunch.

MISS LOUD-Big congrats on your weight loss,2.4 is a great loss.

FASINJUNKIE-Welcome to the chat. That's wonderful losing 3 lbs, when your goal was for 2.wish I could do that,I was aiming for 2 and got 1.

PRINNY-How exciting a road trip,I haven't been on one of those in ages. What about some nuts or maybe some other vacuumed packed products that does't need refrigeration.

Have a good one

Vegaspunkermom 06-01-2009 11:18 AM

Ah June. Half the year is gone already.

MissLoud - Congrats on your loss! You're really doing great!

Cebsme - Where in CA do you live? My inlaws are in Riverside and are 3.5 hours away. Of course the offer for the free haircut is extended to you :)

Fashin - I think motivation is the hardest part for me now. Even after 5 whole months, I despise exercise, but love my new body so much, I just keep doing it. It sounds like you're off to a great start.

Prinny - I dont have many food suggestions, but it sounds like your plan is really good! Hopefully you'll have a great time, thats the most important part.

Beach - Hooray for the 1lb! Does that mean you're back to normal now from the gain? I sure hope so! Im happy you had fun seeing your friends after it had been awhile. What day is your birthday in June?

Yesterday was nice. I ate alot, but kept within calorie range. I was good, and stopped eating at 630 too! I was so full, I didnt even miss a snack. Perhaps thats key? Eat more at dinner, and stay full during the evening? Not sure.

SUCH a busy month for me. Both of my daughters birthdays are June (11th & 25th) and their big double party is the 14th. One of my best friends is flying out from Texas for their birthday party, and that night we'll have a couples double date. Then Fathers day is the 21st, not to mention 2 tattoo appts. to finish this chest piece. Also, another of my best friends is set to be induced with her little boy no later than the 24th.

prinny 06-01-2009 11:20 AM

Just poping in to say HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO mid-workout as I am want to do!

Ok stretches, then snack, then 1 hour of bike, then shower, then breakfast!

nom nom nom

retiredone 06-01-2009 10:23 PM

 I started my circuit workout again. Haven't done it since December and I really couldn't get through the whole workout so I stopped at the half way point in the tape. I'll finish it on Wednesday when I do the workout again. I ate way too many cookies today. I made 8 different kinds for DS's fiance's bridal shower and felt compelled to to taste each finished product...sigh... Oh, well tomorrow no junk or cookies.

prinny 06-02-2009 03:02 AM

Finally got 150, only 3 days late I blame TOM. Stupid TOM. Yes I know I said I was not going to WI but I did it anyway. SO THERE! Trying to figure out how to get the next 5 faster so I'll have 145 before the trip. Just don't think I CAN do 2.5 pounds a week, **** I can't even do 2 pounds a week regularly. :-(

retiredone 06-02-2009 05:49 AM

WTG, Prinny. I don't how you can lose weight faster unless you changed your exercise and did something different or more intense but I don't know if you'd even lose faster then. Just don't go on a cookie binge-it won't help.

beach bum 06-02-2009 08:25 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Its a new week for me, and I started to exercise before breakfast. I went 20 mins on the bike, using the spinning technique[closing my eyes and imagine riding to where ever I'm going and than back again] and I must say it works.

VEGAS-Thanks,Yes I'm back to the weight I was .Now that that's gone,I will proceed to get the rest off.My birthday is on the 22nd,and I was disparately planning to get to goal by then now that I had that mishap for two months I'm back to square one.

I think that's they key also but I will have to eat more a supper as my dinner is at 12n.

PRINNY-I may be joining you in the exercising program before breakfast, but not as much as your doing.Congrats for getting back to the 150's. The less you have to lose the harder is going to become to lose, but I do agree with Retire, just eat less or exercise more.

RETIRE-You did great starting the circuit exercising again,no one expects to to go further than you can ,Wed will be another day to finish.Cookies and such will always be there,to tempts us,but its the will power to say :nono:

retiredone 06-02-2009 02:34 PM

Thanks Beach. You're always so encouraging. You take time to reply to everyone.

Vegaspunkermom 06-02-2009 04:31 PM

Hi!

Prinny - CONGRATS!! I also dont know how you can lose the weight faster besides upping your exercise while staying at the same calories. Thats the only thing I can think of, but I cant even seem to do it myself.

Retire - YUM cookies! My husband baked cookies with our daughters 2 weeks ago, and I had 2 bites of one cookie. I do miss them. I still cant get through an entire Jillian Michaels circut training workout.

Beach - Hooray for you hopping on the bike & hooray for you losing the gain! Excellent news for you all around. Im marking down the 22nd ;)

Well, Im pretty b*tchy today. I dont know why, but Im blaming it on hormones. If everything is correct I should be PMS'ing today, and it certainly feels like I am. I W-I this morning at 160.2. So, thats a 1lb gain for me, putting me in an even crappier mood.

I cleaned the house this morning. Now, Im planning to do a short cardio workout, and taking the kids to a cupcake place so they can design their own cupcakes. Funny thing, the thought of a cupcake makes me sick to my stomach. I guess thats a good thing.

prinny 06-03-2009 02:06 AM

retiredone Cookie binge is not likely to happen, I really am not a 'sweet' person... er... actually that's true on many levels. Spicy, salty, meaty and a little tart... yeah. ;) I am thinking about finding something aerobic to do between weight training days. Maybe just cranking up some loud thumpy EBM and dancing in my kitchen!

beach bum Yeah, see above. Manic dancing in the kitchen may be what I do! Plus I am really kicking up my strength training. I know I am almost 40 but I want the arms, shoulders and legs back from when I was a dancer.

Vegaspunkermom I'm going to do what I can I am more worried right now about my waist measurement than the scale right now. Need to get those last 2 inches to be at the upper size for my corsets.

You know, V, I miss baking cakes SO MUCH. I do art cakes so it's a huge creative thing for me. I do NOT miss eating them at all. What's worse is that while baking I have to constantly taste every colour of icing because I do very bright/dark colours and I have to make sure the flavouring balance is right so the icing dye doesn't make it taste bitter or plasticky. *urgh* That I do NOT miss.

I am just determined to get down to 145ish by my trip. I really want to do a photo shoot and so does my photographer friend. If I can get my waist down just another inch or two the corsets can do the rest since what I would be wearing for the shoot is Victorian my hips and butt will be camouflaged by a big bustle and skirts. All about the waist!

Ok back to my workout. I added a few exercise today so I did strength training for a whole hour. Must stretch before I cool down too much, protein snack, then bike for an hour.

EDIT: Ok so last time I took my waist a few days ago I was still really bloated from PMS apparently because I took it tonight and... 27 inches!!! I have 3 more to go! WOOT!!! I am now 40-27-40.5 Only one more inch till I can squeeze into skinny corsets! I have noticed I lose about an inch off my waist for every 5 pounds so 15 to go, is the 3 inches.

retiredone 06-03-2009 08:03 AM

Prinny, I never lose inches off my waist. Well not like you anyway. My waist is the thickest part of my body. I have pants that are hanging off the hips and legs and still tight on the waist. You truly have a Barbie Doll figure. :D Much to be envied by me.

bargoo 06-03-2009 09:46 AM

Prinny, you can get the 100 calorie packs of every description, they don't need refrigeration and should travel well.

beach bum 06-03-2009 10:40 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Wasn't feeling well last night so I went to bed around 8:30 and just woke up a while ago. Have no idea what it was, except for a stuffy nose and weakness in my legs and arms. This morning I'm feeling fine again.Could it be that going back to exercising which my arms & legs are not used too???

Going for a walk this morning, but only to the ball field and back 20 m round trip.

RETIRE-Thanks that what I believe a message board is about, supporting in ever way of life not only in weight loss.

Vegas-Sorry that you had such as trying day. I know as I been there years ago, and I had a very bad time of it during those years, I had to have a hysterectomy. Oh no,back to the 160's again it might be water retention having TOM and being were you live a hot climate its a true possibility. Drink water with lemon juice in it as the lemon just is a diuretic. Thanks for the congrats,I hope I will get something going in the second half of the year.

PRINNY-Dancing in the kitchen, wow you brought memories back, thanks for reminding me,and its such a easy way to get results. I used to do the twist over and over again and I do remember that I did have a smaller waist. Its time for me to take those old weight out of cobwebs and use them while watching tv. BIG congrats on all your accomplishments. I never had those measurements.

Have a great morning

Vegaspunkermom 06-03-2009 12:22 PM

Prinny - Hooray for the waist measurement! You're really almost there, and thats GREAT! Ive always wanted to learn true cake decoration (fondant, etc.) & I will start courses for sometime this year. Im not really artistic at all, although, I think they'll come out cute when I get the hang of it.

Beach - Im sorry you didnt feel well, but certainly glad you're back to yourself this morning. I bet it is the exercise. That happens to me after a few days. I am TOTALLY going to take your advise and drink a TON of water today to see if that gets the extra off.

I HAVE A PROBLEM & NEED HELP! It seems since Im now at this weight, I can only eat 1100-1200 MAX calories to lose. Yes, I have cut down on exercise a bit. Can it be I have to lower my calories at this stage? HELP please!

The cupcakes yesterday were cute. I am VERY proud of myself that I didnt have one. The triple chocolate did look a bit tempting. Anyway the kids had fun :)

Today Im taking the girls to the portrait place for their birthday pictures. They're ready to go, and we'll leave in about 20 minutes. They look VERY cute (although Im biased) I know this is off topic, but I have to share! Here's a picture from my son's first birthday shoot..

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...stbdaypic1.jpg

Anyhow, have a wonderful hump day everyone!

ladyviv 06-03-2009 04:42 PM

ok, I guess instead of starting a new thread by itself, I can probably ask my question here.

I weigh 212, and will be starting my diet next Monday. Is 1800 calories too many to start with? I don't exercise and I'm trying to talk hubby into (well, beg actually, lol) into getting me an inexpensive treadmill. He's afraid it will become a place to put clothes on, but I am very determined this time to lose the weight. Belly fat is not good for the heart, especially for women. I want to live longer and be with my husband.

Sooo, if I would get on the treadmill 20 minutes/day, 5 days (M-F), and rest Sat & Sun, plus the 1800 calories/day, would that work? I am the same weight I was a year ago without exercising or watching what I eat. I'm thinking because of not gaining in over a year, it would work. Then when I get below 200, I would drop 100 calories/day, then 100 more when I hit 180#.

What do y'all think?

Thanks!

beach bum 06-03-2009 04:59 PM

Hi Vegas:)

First-let me say you have a adorable son, thanks for sharing his first birthday photo.
Second-You're at 1100-1200 calories already,Wow!! I wish I could help you,but I really don't know. What does the sticky on the FQA thread say about lowering the calorie count.

Thanks It was just like a flu was hitting,I felt so weak, its a great possibility it could be the exercising since haven't done that in 8 weeks..Today I'm back to my own self again. I got to walk for 20 mins this morning and this evening when watching tv I'm going to do some stepping with weights..

Have a great evening

Hi prinny... is there anything special you are doing to whittle your waist away? Just curious... thanks!

prinny 06-03-2009 09:19 PM

ladyviv The waist thing is just because I have a natural hourglass figure. Even when I was up in the upper 170's my waist was only 31 inches. I have friends who are about my height or a little taller who look anorexic thin but have 26-27 inch waists their chest and hips aren't than much bigger though so they look waify, I will never look waify. Even when I was unhealthy thin (123 or less) after college I was still curvy and had a big butt and hips... but you could see my pelvis through my skin so it was... weird.

Vegaspunkermom I wouldn't lower you calories below 1200. I mean i have days like Tues. where I ended up with onle 800 calories for the day (oops!) but I try to stay between 1100 and 1300. I used to go up as high as 1400 when I started because my metabolism is jacked up, and it always has been, and I am lowering down to a harder 1200 unless I workout extra. Are you cutting back on exercise due to time constraints?

So this morning I tried on pants from my closet. The 12s are getting loose, the 10s fit though a little snug and I can actually get into 8's but they are tight. Not lay on the bed to get the zipper tight but tight. For tight pants, I care not. I am wondering if maybe I could get into 6's at goal. I mean today's 6 is bigger than the 6 the last time I was an 8... if that makes any sense.

I am waiting to take in the clothes I am taking on my trip till next week. I think if I am diligent I can get another prinny penguin if not an actual mini goal. I am going to be as action packed as possible this week! I broke 150 today (149.6), probably because TOM is ending.

... and to that end I am now going to get off the computer and get some cleaning, laundry, dishes done, chase the cats around and run up and down the stairs! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

beach bum 06-04-2009 08:56 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Its not a good day for walking outdoors unless you like to get wet,Its raining out,and will be for the rest of the day. Guess I'll be on my bike and will walk with my walking video.

LADYVIV-Welcome to the chat.I don't think 1800 is too much for your weight but you can check on the sticky for FQA on top of the thread will give you an idea of where to start I also use the free dieting.com free tools. If you can't get a inexpensive treadmill walking is just as good.

VEGAS-I read Prinny post to you and she does make sense.Going lower than 1200 is not healthy.

PRINNY-Congrats getting out of the 150's. I'm sure you deserve to put another prinny penguin up on your siggy even if its a mini goal. I'm sure you will be able to get down into a size 6,as you're very determined to get there, you will succeed.

Have a great morning

iaradajnos 06-04-2009 02:54 PM

Hi everyone:

Ladyviv--In today's messages and also my own experience, I'm successful at about 1300 a day with a set program for 2200-2400 burned calories from my exercise dvd (I bought this great calorie burner watch/belly band thing at Target $99 that's specific to my settings). I've been losing a very consistent one-pound per week in first five/six weeks, then 1.5 pounds this Spring. However, you're idea of slowing reducing calories as you progress seems sound too.

Vegaspunkermom--I'm wondering if you might look at the whole picture. One thing I saw on the Biggest Loser show (my whole family was glued to the set each week) was importance of rest, self-care, lowering stress, exercise, and diet. 'Course, I'm new to this group so I'm not as familiar with your postings but it's been something I've been trying to keep up. I need to wake up at 4:45am in order to get a full work out in on Tuesdays and Thursdays before the family wakes up and we get ready for school/work. So, I struggle to get enough sleep since bedtime would have to be 8:45pm to get my needed full eight. I wonder if I'm not getting enough sleep to maintain my weight loss especially as I hope to clear the 150's in the next week and see the 140's for the first time in 25 years. Haven't hit a wall yet but I'm watchful.

As for checking in: My own day went off with my Thursday morning exercise which included me getting up five minutes earlier to try to see if I get done before it's time to wake the kids. My husband has been out of the state or the country for a few weeks and I have 2 1/2 more weeks to survive. So, I'm running out of sleep but trying to stay on track. I've actually re-invigorated my weight loss since he's left the country with trying to see if I can lose 2 pounds a week for three weeks straight. Not sure if I can swing but it's something to shoot for for this month. I measure myself in a few days.

melwolfe 06-04-2009 03:20 PM

Ladyviv, check Craigslist and see if there is a freecycle program near you. You can get some really good deals on Craigslist and if there's a freecycle and someone has one that would be free for your treadmill.

Congrats Prinny, Wow, I don't think my waist has ever been that small, no idea what it is now, maybe I'll measure.............

Vegas, no idea as to what you should/could do, but I agree with everyone else I wouldn't go below 1200.

Vegaspunkermom 06-04-2009 08:17 PM

Hi all!

First, thanks so much for your responses! Ive decided to drop to 1200 and stay there. My main problems now are: 1. I havent been exercising as much. This is pure laziness. I used to exercise 5 days a week, but I think now that I feel SO much better about myself, and my body, the guilt and stress I used to have which made me exercise so hardcore, is fading into the background. I hope that makes a bit of sense. At any rate, I am DETERMINED to at least get a workout in 3 times a week. 2. My night snacking is messing me up. I just cant control myself in the evening. Its not what Im eating at night, its the fact that I am eating, and thus, the full feeling all night isnt good. :( Goodness. I refuse to lose, actually... I refuse NOT to!

Beach - Thanks for the compliments on my little man :D He's my world. Blah for the rain but GOOD for you for getting a workout of some kind in. It seems youre more motivated than I am.

Prinny - HOORAY for your loss! A double hooray for the drop in sizes! I bet you'll make your time goal! :carrot: Im lucky, like you, to be an hourglass girl myself. Although, after babies, my bubble butt isnt half as hot as it used to be. :/

LadyViv - Welcome! Im not sure of your height, but Im 5'7" and I started at 209lbs. I went from eating a ridiculous amount of calories (which I was never aware of before I started counting) to 1400 per day. I dropped 8lbs the first week, 15lbs total the first month. The first week was a struggle with "shrinking my stomach" because I was eating a HUGE portion every meal, but after a week, I got used to my new lifestyle, and the cravings went WAY down! I agree with MelWolfe about checking Craigslist for a treadmill. Also, dont let lack of one stop you. Ive lost ALL of my 50lbs at home, in my living room with no equipment but a set of handweights. I think I went with my mom on her gym membership guest pass twice, for an hour long class each time. You can do this!

Iara - Welcome to the group :) Hope you dont mind if I shorten your name lol ;) Thanks so much for your tips. Its not that I dont have the time, its that Ive grown lazy. Its like a case of senior-itis when you're about to graduate. Im SO close, I just want to be done. Good for you for being a mommy, and changing your lifestyle at the same time. I know how hard that is!

Im off to make dinner. We're actually having steak tonight (flank of course for its lack of fat) and I hardly ever eat red meat anymore. Not that I deserve a treat, but its better than cakes & cookies right?

After dinner Im going to meet my best friend at Target to shop for both my daughter's birthday gifts. That'll mean a nice long walk around the store at least, AND no nighttime pigging out. I was 160lbs even today. Hopefully tomorrow Ill be back at 159lbs. as I refuse to up my freakin ticker!!

beach bum 06-05-2009 09:02 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Have to be brief as I have to get ready to see the doctors this morning for my follow up appointment since my second MRI. Just want to know what the MRI read and if I have a future problem with this sciatic nerve.

Nothing new, just noticed that my belly is getting smaller, when looking into the mirror,or is it a trick or a optical illusion.:lol3: Going to take my measurements next W-I to see for sure.

iaradajnos-Welcome to the chat. I sure you will be able to reach for mini goal for this month if you have your mind set to it. You proving it just by exercising.

VEGAS-Happy to hear you are going to staying the calories that your feel with help you. I don't think that there's a set time limit or amount of exercising 3x or 5x a week is sufficient. About eating during the night I found on another calorie counting board that a protein shake will do wonders if you can't stopping nibbling.[protein powder that your can use with water or milk] I used one protein shake and it does fill you, that you don't need anything else to eat.
I found my protein shake in Walmart or you can get them in the supermarket where they a little pricey.

He is so cute, don't let the girls after him.

Have to go and get ready for the doctors.,see you gals later

prinny 06-05-2009 10:14 AM

ARGH!!!

Two nights in a row I have gotten engrossed in doing stuff and I missed my workout window. Well I did it last night and I am still up I think I am going to workout now and just stay up all day.

Good morning & happy Friday ladies!

Im back down to 159lbs THANK GOODNESS! Im also planning to exercise today. Im going to do 30 minutes of cardio and 15 of strength training with my hand weights. I know if I just stay consistant, this last 4lbs will come off, and then I can concentrate on my additional 10lbs.

Beach - Hey if you see your belly getting smaller then it IS! No one knows your body better than you. If it werent for a bit of extra skin (:() from having 3 kids, Id have a FLAT tummy now. I LOVE the protein shake idea! Can you tell me the name of the brand you bought at Walmart & the calories on it please? Id love something that tastes like an actual shake and not the "health food" tasting stuff. Please also let me know about your MRI results, I hope its good news.

Prinny - Im a coffee addict! The stronger the better. Hope you worked out!

melwolfe 06-05-2009 12:36 PM

Yeah, I didn't word that very well, I was meaning to check Craigslist and Freecycle not look for one on the other.

prinny 06-05-2009 01:23 PM

I totally just worked out. I even had my own personal spin class with my new playlist.

*drips sweat on keyboard*

Shower time.

beach bum 06-05-2009 04:57 PM

VEGAS-:woohoo:Glad to hear you back to the 150's again.:woohoo:Got back from the doctors where he read the MRI to me,saying that I had a disc that's in the spinal section of the tail bone that caused the sciatic nerve to hurt. The only thing that he could do for me if still hurting was a cortisone shot or if it gets too bad back surgery would be necessary.

I ask him if there anything I could do to prevent this in the future. He told me core exercisers. like crunches,I told him is impossible to lay on my back and do them. Than he asked if I had a ab machine, I told him yes, but I haven't use it in a long time. I do have a booklet that has standing back exercisers called "Banish the Potbelly"So I'm going to try to do some.

The protein shake brand that I bought was EAS [Energy-Athletics-Strength] soy protein.with 170c per 1 scoop. The favorite I picked was vanilla but you can get in it choc & strawberry. I like the vanilla as I make pancakes from the powder.I just had one 1 hr ago and I'm not hungry.

Don't know for sure about my belly but it looks like it is,the pants I'm wearing really don't tell. They still tight on me. We'll see by Monday weigh in & measure day.

Have a great evening

Beach - Thanks for the congrats!! Also, thank you for the protein shake info. Im going to Walmart for our weekly grocery trip on Sunday and will check it out! I suppose the MRI results are both good & bad. You have been walking better, so thats a plus for sure. The worst case scenerio is scary, but there is prevention, and you losing weight, eating right, & exercising can only help that. Pilates is GREAT for core exercise and they have sitting & standing versions you can do. I am a pliates addict now because it doesnt feel like you're doing much, but you're sore the next day. They also make videos for core exercise you can get!

Im proud of myself! I did 30 minutes of a cardio bootcamp workout in the morning, and 15 minutes of arm strength training in the afternoon. I want to try to focus on strength 5 days a week for a short period of time each day. I want to rotate areas (arms, legs, & tummy) because now is the time I need to start toning even more.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Another drizzly day so I'm compiled to exercise indoors today. According to my chart of calories in - calories out, the exercising that I'm doing is really lowering my calorie intake, and that's dangerous, especially to weight loss. I remember being at WW and when my calories we're brought under 1200 I either gained or stalled. So I decided to exercise once a day and not the two that I'm doing.

VEGAS-You're welcome I hope that the protein shake is to your liking. There are many on the shelf,so if you don't like this brand than you can go to another. Oh No!!I don't think that it will go that far for back operation. At my recent Osteoporosis scan said that my back, hip we're free of the Big O,it just my left wrist that has a little bit,so I'm not worried. Never thought about Pilates,I'm going to look the exercise up on the net and see what it says. Thanks for the idea.

You should be proud, :bravo:with all the time & afford your putting into calorie control and the exercises you do, plus having young ones to take care of every day. :bravo: again.

Vegaspunkermom Good for you working out! I love doing my strength training, and I am trying to build some muscle now too, because I'm starting to get some loose skin on my arms where there was fat and I want to tighten them up a bit.

beach bum Strengthening your stomach muscles helps support your back. I know since I have been doing crunches my back has hurt a lot less.

So today's WI I was down to 147.6! I guess my TOM bloat was hanging on for several days after TOM was over. I have also been very careful about my sodium which is probably helping. One more pound till I get my next penguin, and 2.6 to my next mini goal.

I was shopping for nonperishable trip food today and discovered low fat, whole wheat canned ravoli and spaghetti Os at Safeway (Eating Right Safeway brand)! Canned ravoli was always a guilt pleasure around our house and the DH was so excited I found some we can have he insisted on those for dinner instead of what I was going to make. He says they are just as good and less salty that the chefboyardee ones, so he is really happy.

I figure I need to take about 10,000 calories worth of food for the whole driving part of the trip. I'll get fruit on my way out, but I think I have enough of the healthy ravoilis/spagOs, low sodium low fat soup, low sodium turkey jerky, low sodium crackers, Special K bars for breakfast and other healthy bits.

Hi everyone:
UPDATE: Had a successful weekend weight loss wise (not so much for all my chores). But with the spouce gone, I want to keep my priorities of me and kids up there and let those darn floors wait a bit before their scrubbing. In the scheme of things, it's just fine. I forgot in the past few weeks to update my calorie burner tracking devise (forget the name) with new lower weight. It's nice to keep inputting new lower weights but then I had to really work harder to burn my target calories. Whew. Did it though.

My next "watch out for..." is that I tend to get extremely intense and push my goals up and up and up. This leads to my back going out, my knees snapping, and general very bad things. So, I'll need to keep up my diversified exercise on top of my DVD at home so I don't overdo one thing more than another. I'm feeling the pain this morning but luckily it's not injury pain--just warning that I'm "on the edge".

QUESTION: What is TOM???

Ladyviv: Yeah for the pound and hope this week works well for your goal.

Beachbum: Thanks for your message today. Very interesting and something that I'll also need to be alert to. Appreciate you sharing.

I've been doing standing abs since January. I think if you really concentrate, hold your core in, and keep it up, you'll find these can be effective. I've got a bunch of my own body issues (bulging disc up near my neck, hip that didn't go back after pregnancy, bad arthritis pain in the knees, and an old ankle injury). I've found the pain in all these parts have been my biggest asset this year with weight loss. Every day somethin' hurts and it reminds me to stay on course for every meal and exercise. My weight loss now has really helped with pain in knees. It's still a work in progress but the loss has definitely helped.

All the best,
Iarad
