Talking Having issues with what to eat for lunch??

Hello,
I have had my fixes on having Protein shakes ( American Whey ) for the past 2 weeks for Breakfast and Lunch. Breakfast is fine I got my self off of Slimfast since it was high in sugar and sodium. But Lunch is another story, I was having Kashi Cereal.. I am at a dead end. I like counting my calories and I stay between 1300-1500 a day, mainly high protein and fiber with low fat/sodium. I am running out of things that I think is good to eat for lunch.. and was hoping that I could get some insite to everyone else. To see if I can get another idea.. I get very bored with the same thing in a 2week period.. I am having baby carrots, apples, FiberOne bar, sugar free applesauce on a daily basis and I am fine with that. Please help if you can.. I would really appreciate it..

If you can get La Tortilla brand tortilla shells, they are like 100 calories and 12 grams of fiber and SO good! I call them Miracle Wraps! I throw in baby spinach, chicken breast, cukes, and mustard for a yummy and filling lunch...also usually add a piece of fruit...

I like Salads, but like you after a week or so of salads I get really sick of them. Today I had a tortilla wrap and put chicken breast, lettuce and spicy mustard. I had that along w/ a yogurt. Other things I enjoy are black beans with salsa mixed in. I like soup, but summer is not the best time for soup. I will also bring left over's from dinner the night before too.

I am on WW, basically counting calories when it comes right down to it. I like to splurge on one meal during the day and have tons of vegis and other things the rest of the day. Right before bed I usually have a grapefruit because it completely ruins anything I eat after the grapefruit. But I love croissants and have turkey sandwiches with those all the time with tons of vegis in between. I know I can get my vegis in anytime, but I like to have a really great calorie dense early dinner around six..

My go to lunch for the longest was tilapia on the george foreman, blackened because I like spicy and broccoli or soup. Now I vary a little. Today I had chicken breast with broccoli and cauliflower sauteed in olive oil and a bit of soy sauce and some crackers with 1 wedge laughing cow cheese. Yesterday was a grilled cheese sandwich on whole wheat with a a big slice of tomato and veggie soup. If you're going for high protein you could always do a turkey sandwich with some veggies on the side, chicken breast, a burger minus the bun with all kinds of yummy toppings, or a black bean burger.

My biggest strategy (since I cook at home most nights) is to just make enough portion of whatever I'm having that night to eat the next day. That way, if my dinner was on plan, my lunch will be too. This also gives me great encouragement to cook, even if I'm not really feeling like it...I just say to myself, "If you don't cook, you won't have lunch tomorrow all taken care of" and 9/10 times, I decide to cook what I'd planned.

A lot of stuff is easy to pack. Like mandalinn said, you could make extra the night before. When I do stir fry or something for lunch I usually make enough to take for dinner to work as well.

I pack my lunch every day. I either take a salad made with bagged lettuce, veggies and 3 ounces of lean protein (chicken, turkey or tuna) or a can of the lite canned soup with 3 ounces of lean protein. Since I have a sweet tooth I'll also include sugar-free jello or puddding, or a half cup of fruit. You can buy tuna in these little cans now that are 80 calories and a perfect size for lunch-packing.

I like to make bean and grain salads, such as tabbouleh or bean and rice salad. I made a corn and black bean salad for Memorial Day, and my husband ate the leftovers all week.

If you like hummus, spread that on whole grain bread (I prefer Ezekiel) with shredded carrots; yumm! Or lean ham on whole grain with Granny Smith apple slices and honey mustard.

I'm kind of lazy so here's what I often eat for lunch--oatmeal & yogurt. It's yummy and filling. I also often bring in leftovers from last night's supper. I usually grill a whole bag of chicken breasts that I have marinated over the weekend. Then I cube them up with spinach and tomato for an awesome salad with a garlic vinegarette.

I have been making Lavash bread wraps lately and I have to say that they are very filling and taste awesome, in fact I just ate one! it consisted of

1 Lavash bread = 100 calories
2oz grilled chicken breast = 100 calories
4 slices turkey bacon = 140 calories
1 T light sour cream = 20 calories
lettuce and tomato = 30 calories (if that but I counted it as 30)

Total 390 calories

I cut it in half and honestly it is a big meal for me as the lavash bread is pretty big, it fills me up completely and I am more than satisfied.

I have made these wraps with deli turkey, pepperoni, capicpola, grilled chicken and the list goes on! I always use the lettuce and tomato but I change the meat and toppings around, my favorite is capicola with sweet roasted red peppers, lettuce , tomato and some red onions chopped up in it, man I'm tellin you! and each piece of lavash bread has 6g of fiber, 10g of protein, 4g of fat and only 100 calories.

I hope this helps ya out because I know how finding meal ideas can get frustrating.

As Ever
