Hey Nicki - Ok, I read it and I am definitely in. You know what is soooo cool? April 12th is my birthday! :bunny2: Wow, I'm an Easter Rabbit this year! LOL

Ok, goal is to get to 195 - so I'm off and running! :easter2:

jamsk8r 02-20-2009 08:33 PM

Wow, congrats on all the weight loss so far, ladies! (and workouts completed!) :carrot:

Welcome to all our new challengers! I'm glad to see so much active participation this round. :)

Chubs, you've been doing awesome! WTG on the healthy dinner for your birthday! (and, Happy Birthday :celebrate:)

I've been staying OP with the eating and workouts. Ran my 2 dogs this morning with the musher's cart, which looks like a go-cart frame that you ride standing up, big old rubber tires and a metal frame. My big male dog was going ape at the start! He wanted to run and he wanted to get going instantly, and just would not stay or hold still long enough for me to get on the cart and get rolling before he'd twisted around and gotten the lines all tangled up. Luckily my son was with me, so he was able to steer the cart while I led the 2 dogs down the trail a bit to get them going in the right direction, then as soon as I let go of them, the male dog tried to take off like a shot. I caught the cart on the way by, and it was near impossible to keep going in a straight line, so it was a wild ride for the first quarter mile till I figured it out. After that, it was pretty smooth, with the dogs running all out for about 2 miles. We turned around at that point, which was a little hairy again cuz the male dog got all excited, so they ran about half a mile back toward the trucks, then my male dog figured out we were heading back, and he started walking. He hates going back to the trucks, because he wants to keep on going, so he turned mule on me and refused to do anything faster than a walk. I ended up running behind the cart the last mile and a half, trying to make the load light enough for my little dog, since she's a hard worker and was trying to pull that big cart by herself. Well, it was a beautiful day, a beautiful trail, and we had a good time anyway!

Tonight, our skating rink opens for the first time, so the boy and I will be meeting up with some friends for a jam session...woohoo! I've been off skating more than a month, so I'm hoping that starting up again will give me another little boost in the calorie burning department. I'll check in with you all tomorrow, since skating will run late tonight.

kalikat003 02-21-2009 12:57 AM

Oh boy I ate bad tonight...!!!

Fries, Stir Fry with lots of white rice and sauce, popcorn, pop and alcohol!! Winning combination!! The rest of the weekend will work out better I hope.. I freaking hate TOM!!! Evry time I need to snack like there is no tomorrow.. OMG my roommate hid the scale too.. kind of pissed off about that!! >:(

retiredone 02-21-2009 07:53 AM

Weighed in this morning and have half a pound lost (again, the same half pound!). But I've been almost entirely on plan all week except for the few cookies I ate one day so I'll continue and hope to see more loss next week.

BarbPA 02-21-2009 09:11 AM

Good Morning CC friends!

I tried to post last night but the site froze up on me. I'm on my way out the door to the gym so I'll pop back later when I have time.

Have a great day!!!
:)

mygritsconfessions 02-21-2009 10:49 AM

jamsk8r - Wow, sounds like a wild ride! At the same time though, sounds like fun! I bet it is beautiful there this time of year.

kalika003 - I can relate. I didn't 'pig out' or anything, but the other night I did eat 1 1/2 slices of pizza, which I am now paying for in the form of a pound. It really sucks! Oh, well, live and learn. I am so going to try to get it off today so my weighin in successful!

Have a great day everyone, I'm going dog walking now....:D

sweetshauna 02-21-2009 12:38 PM

Hey everyone!

I'm BACK!!!

Things actually went relatively well after I signed off from the Vals day challenge. I didn't have time to exercise because I had a big day coming up on Tuesday (this past Tuesday that is), but I hung in there in terms of carbs and calories and that's all I could ask for.

Anyway, as the stress level plummeted to zero on Tuesday afternoon, and instead of using the opportunity to renew my weight loss efforts and kicking into gear, I went on a bender:frypan:. My carb and calorie intake on Tues, Wed, Thurs & Fri have been OUT OF CONTROL! Rock bottom was Wednesday when I did 2,700cals and 236g of carbs! (Yeah, told myself that everyone needs a break sometimes and I wilded out on Nutter Butter cookies). Anyway, after a delicious Moroccan feast last night involving kofta tagine & couscous :T(and of course wine), I'm going back on track- my monthly weigh-in is only a week away and I don't think I'm going to make it:fr:!

So, my goal from now until easter, which is 7 weeks away, is to reduce the amount of off-plan days I have:cheer3:. I'm taking it in small increments, so this weekend's plan is to stay on-plan for Saturday and Sunday, and then starting Monday I'm going on a 10-day POP challenge!

So here's to hoping back on the wagon!
:dust:

retiredone 02-21-2009 01:07 PM

I've just finished reading a few of the posts I missed and  we sound like a bunch of skid row alcoholics when we talk about going on a binge or a bender or falling off the wagon. It's the same terminology. Fortunately, we can eat food again without getting readdicted. Imagine how awful it would be if in order to lose weight we would have to stop eating altogether and just take a nutritional suppliment in a pill or IV form. Eating is such a social act and I guess it all comes down to the choices we make when we are being "social'. It's not the food but the company. A piece of bread and a bowl of soup can be a banquet with friends and family to enjoy it with me.

OK, stepping away from the podium. Have a good day everyone.

I went off plan last night like I had planned. I woke up this morning and got right back on plan. I'm tired and want to lounge until work but I'm about to do one of my DVDs. So I get on the scale this morning and it says 199.5. I literally sucked in my breath. But I usually go down the morning after drinking and the next day I go up. I will let ya'll know what it says tomorrow~!

dgramie 02-21-2009 02:57 PM

I lost 1.6lbs this week!! I am finally out of the 220s!! It took me 4 months to work my way down thru the 20s. I am hoping to sail thru the teens!!
Went shopping last night and got an outfit for the rehersal dinner.I am getting a bit nervous. DD wedding is one week from today. Next friday morning I will weigh in before I leave to go be with my daughter.

mygritsconfessions 02-21-2009 03:16 PM

retiredone - LOLOLOL......funny, but true!!!

dgramie - Congratulations on breaking the 20's - thats great!! I know what a leap than can be!

Ok, I'm off and will check in later - hmmmmmm, I'm hungry.....uh oh....

jamsk8r 02-21-2009 03:57 PM

Hey ladies!

DG, congrats on breaking into the teens! Having had my own months-long battle with the 180s, I can totally relate to how great it feels to move on!

Shauna, great to hear from you! I've been struggling with carb cravings myself, well, not actually carbs, but sandwich-y stuff that I'm missing. I'm thinking of buying some low carb flatbread or tortillas to use as a guilt-free indulgence there. My sister recommended the flat-outs from Costco. I'm going there today, so I will scope out the carbs for myself (and the sodium, because I try to keep it low sodium all the time).

I'm also trying to think of more variety for meals that both my son and I can sit down and eat together. We haven't had any real sit-down meals since I started this thing last year, and it's really messed things up a bit, especially his diet, since he's not getting enough veggies/fruits. I am trying to think of meals I can make that will be good/complete and enough cals for a growing boy, without being a big carb temptation for me. I'm thinking some low-carb tortillas or flatbread would be flexible for making pizzas, fajitas, etc without blowing my recent weight loss trend.

Isabella, hope you bust right on by that same old half pound! Have you changed your workout routine lately? Sometimes that can give a shock to the system.

Nicki, it's you! Nice avatar!

Sandy, it was a little scary, I confess, but not terribly so, and it was fine as long as we kept on going. The mountains were gorgeous, though, and clear sunny skies, so it was totally worth a little trouble with the male dog. He's a very good house dog, honestly, he just gets way too excited about pulling and his brains leak out...he's so big, it just makes him hard to control when he's too excited to think straight. I often joke that I should have him run alongside the truck on the way TO the runs, then he'd be calm enough to hook up and go without him going ape. Probably would not work with that dog, though...nothing seems to tire him out.

Barb, I've had that happen, too, but it's my IE that freezes up on me. I hate that frickin' program. lol.

KKat, when you go off plan, you don't fool around, lol! Well, you know, in the long run, it won't matter...it's just a bonus power-up day. Today would be a good day to get some records on your weight lifting! ;) Just go back to normal (the new normal) and you'll be fine. It's only when we make a habit of days like that, when it really starts building up.

I'm off to Costco to pick up more broccoli and a few other essentials (pineapple! I'm addicted!). Not sure what the workout will be today, but I've got a jonesin' for a killer Crossfit workout, so I'll probably check the main site and see what's cookin' over there.

Skating was awesome last night. the new rink is huge, brand new floor, newer building, just really nice all around. Danced for over 2 hours of it, and burned about a bajillion calories. The scale was good this morning, keeping me in the 179s. :)

BarbPA 02-21-2009 07:22 PM

Hey CC Friends!

I'm so behind and will do my best to catch up, but first will you put up with a little whining and complaining??? :^:

SO....DH and I are totally not on the same page with our lifestyles. Mine = healthy, His = the complete opposite. Every now and then I'll get a glimmer of interest from him but it lasts a microsecond. )He really, really needs to think about his health soon...it worries me.) So, today he suggests going to Outback for dinner. Fine with me, I know how to order at any restaurant. Before we left the house I did my research and knew what I was going to order....

We get settled into the booth (by the way, how much do I LOVE fitting comfortably in booths!?!?!?) and I'm getting the kids organized as I hear DH tell the server to bring "one of these" and he points to it on the menu. He didn't want me to hear I guess. Next thing I know a bloomin' onion shows up. DUH! We all know it's one of the worst foods in America! He acts surprised when I won't even touch the thing and then proceeds to eat at least 1/2 of it. Next is nearly a loaf of bread with butter, then the lettuce wedge loaded with blue cheese dressing (I'll admit to a couple bites of this). Next comes the 20oz steak with fries! :dizzy: Don't forget the 2-3 glasses of coke. What the he......!?!?!? I enjoyed every bite of my grilled chicken and brocolli. :)

I just don't get what he's thinking. I've been eating smart for 6+ months and lost over 90+. He just keeps brining home the pizzas and fast food and refuses to lift a finger unless it for the remote or computer. :frypan: It's so difficult to do this with no support from my husband.

OK. I'm done. Had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening. :^:

In other news, I had a great workout this morning. I was on my own but followed the chart my trainer has for me. It was a good workout and I enjoyed being at the gym for nearly 2 hours. Saturday mornings are typically all to myself and I choose to spend them at the gym. Hubby gets Sunday mornings to do as he pleases.

My weigh in was frustrating this week. I count Friday morning's weight as my "official" for the week. THis was the first week I was up a little bit from the previous week. It was only 0.8, but still frustrating. It was gone today, thank goodness. I was on plan on week, food and exercise were great. It was, however, a very stressful week and that could have very well contributed to it. I'll nail it this week. I'm so close to 100 pounds gone....I want it!!!

Nicki - Grats on seeing a ONE on the scale. That's awesome! :D Love the avatar and seeing your smiling face!

Retire - So true. :smug:

DG - WOOHOO! Good job on hitting the teens!

Jam - Glad to hear skating was a blast!! Hope the shopping trip went well. I need to do some planning and shopping myself.

Sweetshauna - Glad to have you back with us and I know you are going to get back on track! :)

FB - Whatcha up to?

My battery is nearly dead so I'm gonna run for now. HELLO to everyone I missed. There is so much activity I can hardly keep up right now! Have an awesome night!!!

Barb
