I'm in the same kind of situation, Jay. Lowered my calories, bumped up my exercise and such, and still no dice. But after reading this and hearing responses from my own thread, I'm going to try upping my calorie intake, as much as I hate the idea of possibly gaining instead of losing.

Jay - I was thinking about this thread last night and wondering how you were doing... I'm glad it is working so far. I know you were nervous about raising your calories... Keep us updated!

S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

Bumping up again with the 4 weeks report.

I have lost more than 3 pounds--I was down 4, but then I bounced up a little. 3 pounds was my target, and so I met and exceeded that.

So, here's what I learned from this experiment:

(1) I can trust FitDay to give me a correct estimate of my calories burned now, without having to have it set to "sedentary" all the time as I did when I first was losing.

(2) I can eat more than I thought and still lose weight. In fact, I lose more quickly and consistently.

(3) I have to eat enough to support my activity level. Otherwise, I end up too hungry, and then I overeat at some point. This was killing my further attempts to lose.

(4) Metabolism changes. For 30 pounds of my initial weight loss, I averaged 1350 cals over 8 months. Now I need over 1500 for about the same rate of loss.

And one last thing I learned was to be willing to experiment. I was doggedly trying to stay with what had worked in the past and had been stuck for some time--unable to make it work.

I'm starting another month goal today. (I won't be reporting further in this thread, though.)

Cheers!
Jay

Jay, on the weight loss! I recently had to do the same thing with my cals, they were really low, I bumped them up, added more fat at my trainer's recommendation, and the weight started coming off. Good luck with your new goal!

Fantastic! And I love point #2---it is such a vital part of my plan. Congrats on the loss!
