Maybe once I'm in maintaince and can have more daily calories this will become a nice treat.

I also wondered about JasonsLea's post here about eating one or 2 sweet potatoes a night! I picked out the smallest I could find and they were still around 14 to 18 oz each. One whole would be around 400-500 calories!

Hey Lori Bell,
Glad you liked the combo. I eat them often! http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/v...roducts/2667/2 According to this source, 1 LARGE sweet potatoe is about 160 calories, with the peanut butter added its about 250 cals. You could round out this lunch with maybe some raw baby carrots, cucs, broccoli, plus have a pear with it too and hot tea, it would be a lot of food bulk and fiber filled goodness for only around 400 calories give or take, I am uncertain how many cals you allow yourself these days?.... Or add a pouch of salmon for 90 calories plus a small salad along with this nice combo. or add a yogurt and raw veggies to help fill you up. Just a few suggestions to try.

Thanks for the link Evil. I guess my frustration was at what "1 large" really amounted to. According to your calorie counter, (as well as the one I use) they say 1 large is 180 grams. I picked out the 2 smallest they had at the store, (most were WAY larger). I brought them home and weighed them on my super duper digital scale I got for Christmas, (a high end very accurate scale). The "smaller" sweet potato weighed 506 grams. Almost 3 times what the calorie counter says is a Large. :) following me here? I guess my point is, one large is very deceiving! A large one at the store weighed upward to 30oz which would be almost 800 grams which would be well over 700 calories.

A large (180 grams) of sweet potato is about the size of a baseball....which I was really hoping for the size of a softball...or better yet a football...lol :)

Yup, yup, uh-huh, EXACTLY my thoughts.

Sweet potatoes are definitely calorie dense. I LOVE them. The're like candy to me.

It is something I eat very rarely though because of the calories, because I tend to overeat them, and believe it or not, I don't find them filling. But I've been considering adding in a splurge every week and I thought the sweet potato and peanut butter would be a nice way to spend my calories. We shall see.
