I have to agree with everyone else - counting calories = freedom. I'm kicking myself for spending all those years thinking calorie counting was the devil.

That's awesome, WormwoodDoll! Such a great revelation, isn't it?

Seconded! Years and years of dieting, and I always scoffed at calorie counting - too pedestrian, too focused on numbers... little did I know! I'm glad I finally figured it out. I have been sticking to calorie counting for more than one year now, and it has just become a normal part of my life.

Like other fellow posters here I love the fact with calorie counting nothing is off bounds food wise. Though the high calorie ladened foods you tend to stay away more from as it takes a big chunk of your daily intake.

With nothing being off bounds I do not crave so much as though I would if I put a ban on those particular foods.

I hope other users of this site read your post showing that upping your calories per day can produce weight loss and not feel hungry to boot. All the way through my weight loss journey I have never gone lower than 1400 per day. Though on average it is about 1500 at present at the beginning I was on 2000 per day and still losing.

Congratulations on your weight loss and good luck at reaching your goals along the way.

I plan on joining a gym after the Holidays (gotta save up) and with that I plan on up'ing my intake by about 200 calories.

rodeogirl There is tons of freedom! I just try to stick with the healthier stuff. Lots of vegs & fruits, lean meats and protein. I never really ate red meat and wasn't a fan, so I'm content with lean ground turkey instead of ground beef, and chicken burgers instead of real burgers. It was an easy transition.

Congrats! I hope this works out for you. As I've said to others, just mess around with your intake. You'll eventually find your niche.
