Hi Shy Moment. I watch my calories pretty carefully and also my food groups. I also take a multi-vitamin and Vitamin D each day. I also have the Canada Food Guide stuck on my frig door so I'm reminded constantly of how much I should be getting. The only thing I have trouble with is milk/milk products. It's not because I don't like milk, it's just because....I'm not sure I just don't think to drink it. I guess I got enough calcium yesterday with all that cheese.
My calories are 1200-1400 a day so I'm not starving myself. I don't do hungry very well at all. I'm short and I find that if I go much higher I don't lose and can even gain. I just cut a chunk of cheese about the size I ate last night and weighed it and it was only 2 oz and the ww crackers were 160 calories so things weren't as bad as I thought. My calories for yesterday were too high but under 2000.
Dgramie, I often eat my dinner in a rimmed soup bowl. It pushed the food closer together and it looks as if I've got a piled up plate of food. Ha, ha, sometimes it's easy to fool the brain.
I have an old postal scale (1972) that's very accurate in ounces and pounds but in Canada everything is officially measured in grams and kilos so I have to improvise at times. I got it in a yard sale for $1 a couple of years ago and it's been great for weighing bread dough when I want everything to be perfectly even (bake sales and such).
Must go get dinner ready for the troops.

. Ok so most 4th graders are tall to me lol. I do the same, between 1200 and 1400 calories. There can be a time or two a month that I go over that but I pretty much stay in those ranges. 30 to 35 grams of fat and 180 to 210 carbs corresponding to the amount of calories I take in. Dairy, 99% of my dairy is in the cheeses I eat. I don't care for milk. FYI, did you know, lol you can have ice cream and it be a dairy group. The dietitian/nutritionist told me that so there are times I have 1/2 cup low fat ice cream ( I don't eat the no fat because it has more carbs in it, 1/2 cup frozen yogurt and a cup of milk. Toss in a large banana and you have your two servings of dairy for the day and two fruits lol. Nice and yummy treat. Low in fat and carbs and fills in some of those food groups. It really is amazing how much a person has to eat to get those required amounts in a day. With a little planning you can eat a ton, eat all day long and never have time to be hungry and still stay within the ranges you allow for yourself. Sometimes I find after I have eaten all of the required amounts of the four basic food groups I am still under the 1200 lower limit. Can just depend on my choices for the day. I really have to find things to eat to get my calories up and still stay with in the carb ranges.
I know few people who can take it or leave it. Personally, it sends me through the stratosphere. Lovely, lovely stuff.

doing laundry, that sort of thing. We'll see if I make it through the evening.
It is dinner time and I think a nice, healthy, filling meal will help.
And a 100 calorie packet of cookies. Mama wants a little something sweet, methinks.
