Red face Weekend of Excess

Hello everyone,
I just joined 3FC after lurking for a few weeks. What finally pushed me to do it was a weekend of excess. I fell off the wagon hard this Saturday and Sunday, and today was the second day in a row that i woke up extremely puffy-faced and feeling swollen/bloated all over (too much food in general, but especially too much sodium and beer!). Anyone relate or have advice on how best to get back on the program?

BTW, my plan now: 1400-1500 calories a day, and the gym 3-4 days a week (40 min. of higher intensity cardio, 20 min. of lower intensity cardio, and some light weight training per workout). I'm thinking i may need to lower the calories?

One more question: Any advice on handling alcoholic drinks when going out or celebrating? I try to keep it to 2 lite beers max, but sometimes that gets hard to do when the party goes on for hours, you know?

The best advice to get back on a program is to plan. Write out what you are going to eat today, and for the next few days.

I have to say, your current weight is already in the healthy range. Maybe instead of weight loss, you should concentrate on fitness and body fat percentage. I would for sure add some strength training to your routine. Doesn't have to be light - you won't bulk up, I promise.

Oh, and the drinking. For long parties, alternate your drinks with sparkling water with a twist of lime or lemon. It looks to others like you are still drinking and they won't push alcohol on you. Plus it keeps you hydrated.

I agree....toggle your mixed drink/beer with a water or diet soda...that will help a little..plus you will still have something in your hand to "drink". You can up your water a little that should help with puffiness. This time of year we need a little more water than normal.

I agree you are at a healthy weight for your height, right now. If you reach your goal of 106 you will be underweight. Maybe you just need toning . which you can do through exercise.

I felt puffy this morning and hung over, even though I haven't had any alcohol in many years now-LOL!!
I think it was too much sodium over the weekend.
I had intentions of a water fast today, but I got hungry. I ate a half of a turkey sandwich a little while ago.
I plan to up my water intake and try to eat clean today.

Best wishes

fiberlover and bargoo, i know 106 might seem low, but I have an extremely small bone frame. Even 2 or 3 pounds really shows up on me and makes a huge difference in how my clothes fit (or don't!). I decided on 106 as my goal because that was what I weighed when I was taking care of myself (eating right and exercising regularly), before a difficult year began and I became physically sedentary while indulging in lots of emotional eating. I think I would be okay with settling at a couple of pounds above my goal weight, but as of now, my focus is getting back in my pants!

srpotu-also keep in mind (I do not know your age or anything) but as we get older weight will distribute differently. So pants you could wear 2-3 years ago may not fit anymore just because of distribution, hips tend to widen as we age, things like that. I would say at 5'2" you should be ok between 105-110lbs but that all depends on you. How you feel. Do not go by Pant size alone is all I am saying...

GOOD LUCK!

StillTryin, that is definitely true - I see that my shape is slightly different, in that more weight is on my butt and hips than other times I gained weight (when I was younger). That is okay - in fact I rather like having more weight there, I think it balances me out and makes me more womanly-shaped. I know I won't be able to fit into ALL of my old pants, but I'm aiming for at least the ones that used to be slightly bigger on me! I am 29, BTW.
