I did the SAME thing last weekend my father in law had a bbq for fathers day and all they had was hamburgers GREASY hot dogs and potatoe and macroni salad and chips and sodas!!!! well I brought water with me and stuck to it props to me for that! I had this big idea that we would stop on the way and I could pick up some things to make a salad to eat instead although I have to admit I was a bit embarressed and worried I might offend and also knew that I would pick up some slack for it ... I didn't care I was doing good and wanted to stick to my diet ... well as always that flopped we wound up not having time to stop and since we were bringing some of the items and running late my husband refused to stop for what he thought was pointless he says " just eat a burger and call it a day" ... I wound up having 2 hot dogs ( no bun) not like that mattered a scoop each of macaroni and potatoe salad and a small handful of chips then a second scoop of macaroni salad ( it was good :| ) and then 2 cookies! ... owell... we had fun atleast and I figure I will jump right back on tomorrow .. my biggest problem is I think that EVERYDAY haha.... we live and we learn sometimes the hard way! right? atleast you had funw ith your family that is important too!

I'm glad you wrote this! I am just beginning and I am sure there will be slipups. I am thinking about events like that that are coming up and wondering what I am gonna do. Hmmm...allow myself to go off plan for the event, eat a big salad before I go, or take my own meal??? Not sure but if I blow the calories out of the water that day, I think I will follow your example and just move on.

actually...thats about 300 calories less than you might have eaten so it does matter, even when you're in the middle of cheating.

Moving on is the best thing to do. Otherwise, I think its way too easy to use it as an excuse to give up. Next time, I am going to eat a salad before I go. Also, I might take along a bag of light popcorn to munch on while i'm there. Its just family so they wouldnt care.

Ooops. I didn't even think of that-Yoyo(as in dieting) and Ma as in, well, Ma
I really like that.

As for the music scene i'm not either. Yoyoma is, a classical musician who plays the cello, who is, i believe, Japanese. I've heard him perform in passing more than anything else. He is fabulous!

Good Luck tracking down the book. One i'm reading now, and finding useful, is called: Small changes for big results By Ellie Krieger MS, RD. She describes a "12 week action plan to a better life". I'm not following it per se, as i'm already doing more in terms of my eating and exercise than her plan outlines in the beginning, but there is lots of good information and tips and recipes. , later gals.

I just bought these. She's awesome and has some great recipes. I am always amazed that everything she makes on her show looks so appetizing but is good for you!
