Calorie Counters for JUNE!!!
Hi all!! Hopefully there will be no more computer crashes!!! This thread is for anyone who is doing calorie counting, and just wants to come for support and to give support!!! Hope to hear from everyone!!! :D
|
Shy, I had read your message about the graduation party at Subway, but I didn't get a chance to respond! What a considerate son you have!!! I have heard of those schools. I think it is great. The daughter of a friend attended one like that in Indiana somewhere.
Our AC is fixed. I wouldn't have lasted with Laura Ingalls Wilder. lol |
Tammy
I told them all they can have air or they can eat. They need to make a choice lol. I don't turn the air on until August lol. We have an over head fan in every room of the house except the kitchen and bathrooms. They will live. Heck we didn't even have air until my asthma got so bad a few years ago I couldn't breath. If I can breath, everyone else can breath I am sure lol. My son can be a pretty remarkable kid sometimes. |
OK I am here....but tired today!!!!
|
Hey all! Wow that's sad that our Calories Chat, went missing forever. Well I am still here. I had a great weekend. I went to see my all time favorite chef speak, Anthony Bourdain of the show No Reservations. I can die happy now. LOL!
I am still trucking along with the weight loss. I am down to 166. Hooray! I haven't been this number in ages. LOL! Tammy- Thanks for starting a new post! How hot is it over where you are? We have rain and we're going to be in the 50's today. It doesn't make me too happy since I really want to do my outdoor walk. Shy- Ah, I remember those days living in CA, my mom gave us that choice too, I chose to eat. LOL! I also lived in a tank top and shorts when I got home. Cold showers, and sitting in front of the fan aftewards. IT was heaven! Well I hope everyone has a great day today. I hope that the server on here doesn't crash anymore. Ok...talk to you all later! |
I posted on this thread before but I'm not sure if y'all remember me. I am on my weigh out of chubby town and so excited to be heading out lol I know I still have a ways to go but my mini goal is to lose 25 pounds by July 20th at 2 pounds a week. In order to meet that goal I was to be at 206.5 this morning and I am at 204.5 so I KNOW I can do it :D
|
Tinky ~ See your doing well, that is fantastic. Now, can you throw me a line and start reeling me in? HAHAHA! I finally have had it as of today with the gains. DH now realizes how my system can not continue down the road he is leading me. When your fat pants get snug and you refuse to wear them, its a sign. HAHAHAHA!
This morning I watch the infomercial for the 6WBMO, it was an old one and DH watched it with me. He said “why don’t you buy this program”. I looked at him and said “yah right”, thinking he was joking. He said “no really I think you should try it, they are eating real food and look at the results”. I said “you are serious aren’t you”. He said “yes, go ahead and order it”. I said “It’s the program I already have and I have been trying to follow!” He said “OH, well we need to start following it because it really works”. LOL! I could have chocked him because we have been talking about getting me back on track now for over a month and keeps agreeing not to buy the crap or asking me to go out for treats but he keeps doing it. I do great when he isn’t home but he has been home with his leg for the last month and I have gradually gained 10 lbs. Now he agrees, the treats need to go because he is gaining also and the doc told him his sugar was high the last time he was in and watch the sweets. Yep, we have watched them going in our mouth alright. Something clicked this morning, probably the squishing my tummy shot some blood up to my brain to get it started again. LOL! So my meals are packed, I am going to take 3 walking breaks and drink all my water. Have to figure out what we are having for dinner before we get home. I have to go to the grocery store to make sure I have enough carb supplies. Well I better get going and I will talk to you all later. |
Tammy ~ I haven't been on in a few days and I had no idea we got lost. Thanks for starting a new thread.
Shy ~ We run the air so our dogs and security reasons. We live in the sticks but to much has happened in the last few years. Last year someone was breaking into homes while people were in bed sleeping and a few vehicles were stolen. No one was hurt but my ODD's girlfriend woke up with the guy watching her sleep. Nope, windows are shut and doors are locked even when I am awake. They still haven't caught the individuals doing this but I haven't heard of anymore lately but I don't take chances. Well we caught the raccoon that killed our baby chickens. They were going to beautiful chickens, they were bantams. So this weekend on the way home from taking GS to the zoo we found a place that had chicks for sale. So we stopped and got some more but now I am back to square one, newly hatched chicks that just have fuzz instead of feathers. Was only able to get three bantam chicks and the rest are going to be larger. Can't remember the breed but I prefer my bantams. I am determined not to get attached to these babies until they are adults. Thank goodness the raccoon didn't get my adult birds. Well I better get going. I am doing great so far today food wise, need to drink up however. Talk to you all later. |
Hi everyone. :) I just went back to calorie counting today. I've been procrastinating for weeks now and have steadily been gaining. I have lost a lot by counting calories a year ago but got bored with it and stopped...then I gained, then I started the South Beach diet, lost 13 pounds in March and since then have gained 16 back over the last 3 months! :o I am the highest I have been in a long time and I swore I would never let myself go over 150 again. Here I sit at 164.
The only thing that I want to do different this time around at 3FC is to be more active in this forum. Last time, I was here a lot but never posted. I think going it alone is an easy way to give up. Getting to know everyone here might help me to keep coming back and as a result, stay motivated and accountable. :) My first mini goal is to drop 6 pounds by July 1st. I hope to set similar mini-goals each month until I get to where I want to be. anyhow..nice to meet all of you. :) |
Grammy-OMG about DH, watching the informercial. He finally got it! LOL! My brother was watching it one evening and asked me will I be like one those women who are crying? LOL! I told him maybe. ;)
I am going to reel you in. You know the 60's are a foreign territory to me. I'm getting lonely, so hurry and catch up! LOL! I keep runnning to the bathroom with all this H20 I am drinking! Valley- Stay focused and you will lose even more than 6lbs. Welcome back!! DM- I do remember you! Congrats on leaving Chubbytown soon! LOL! Keep at it! And don't be a stranger around here. |
Tinky, I think I skipped past 166 many years ago on my way up. I doubt that I'll ever see it again. I wish it was in the 50's here! Actually, maybe the 70's would be nice. It has been in the 90's, and I don't do well with the heat. It has been storming off and on. Some tornadoes north of us, but nothing here. There is so much flooding in Indiana. Our son's girlfriend lives there. She is in an area where it hasn't been hit as hard.
Dawn, good for you on the loss!!!! I hope you meet your goal!! Lara, your post about your hubby cracked me up!! He sounds so much like mine!!!!! What is 6WBMO?? Valley, welcome back and glad to hear you'll be posting!! I think it does help us to be accountable. Mini-goals are good!! I went to my aerobics class this morning. We'll be having our next weigh in on Friday. When I started the class in April, my goal was to lose 15 pounds by the end of June. I have lost nothing. I am toning though, so my clothes are fitting better, and even though I'm large, I feel like I am looking better. We do our final weigh in on June 27. That day she will also check our body fat percentage again. I am praying that at least that will show some improvement even though the scales are showing me nothing. I did have to get smaller pants to wear to the class. It was getting too hard to hold the weights, do the step, and hold my britches up at the same time. lol |
valley
Welcome. 6 pounds in three weeks. That is a lot to lose. Sometimes setting that large of a short term goals isn't to good. Think more about eating the required amounts of the four basic food groups. Staying within the ranges of calories and fats and carbs you allow yourself. Exercise, exercise, exercise. The side effect of those things is weight loss and a trim body. You do those things and you will find yourself meeting your ultimate goal in a healthy manner. grammy Sorry about your chicks. Glad you could find more. Aren't they so cute with the fluff before they get their feathers. Dawn Oh another dawn " Dawn here " :). I do remember seeing you around. Where you been? What has been going on in your neck of the woods? Losing weight is great for so many reasons. Eating a healthy diet that has all the required amounts of the four basic food groups more important. You eat right and exercise you are going to have the side effect of losing weight and being on an eating plan that lasts a life time with little effort except opening up a cupboard or fridge in your own home. If you choose to use another plan. Let us know what you are doing and how it is going. I will be right here to cheer you on all the weight to your goals. Tinky You are doing great. It isn't what we lose today or tomorrow. It is meeting our long term goals and in a healthy manner. I am teaching the kids the value of a dollar. Even Bella, my little **** Tzu is learning fans are our friends lol. Someday they are going to be out on their own ( the kids not Bella :)) and air isn't free unless it comes through a window lol. Still How are things going. This heat makes everyone tired I think. It was all I could do to make myself scrub ceilings the other day. |

I def need to add in more exercise too! Thanks for the advice. :) |
Good Morning. Man I have to re-post my post, since it timed out. I hate when that happens.
Tammy- I hope you don't mind me answering the 6WBMO question. I am on it too. It is basically a very structured plan created by Michael Thurmond. It consists of eating foods that is accordance to your body type. You find out your body type by doing a quiz. It is also a low sodium/lowfat plan. As GrammyL will tell you, they don't tell you that it is low calorie as well, but it is. But in defense to them, I feel full all day thanks to eating 5-6 times a day. It's basically portion control. It also recommends you to do about 30 mins of cardio, 5 days a week. It can be walking, or what ever you desire, and also toning 2 days a week. I do cook a lot on this plan, but I cook in bulk so, I have most of my food already to go. I do cook dinner though. GrammyL feel free to add anything, I just basically gave the plan in a nutshell. Way to go on getting into smaller pants. Even if your scale is not moving, atleast your body is melting inches. Shy- Thanks, I take one day at a time. I do admit to doing this for vanity reasons, but the majority of it all is to be healthier and happy. My Dr. and I agreed to meeting in 6 months to see my progress and hopefully delete some bad stuff off of my medical records. Valley- Yeah water weight, gotta love it. It has been said that drinking more water will help flush it out. I have noticed that it does work. Weather- It has certainly been wacky, the mountains are seeing snow, we have rain and blustery conditions. The midwest if raining and flooding. Oy! Crazy! Well have a great day everyone! |
Tinky
Sounds like a good plan. Vanity of course we all do it for vanity. Have to admit that wasn't the first thing that came to mind when I started. I wanted to breath. I had sleep apnia so bad that I was going days without sleep. I can sleep now lol. valley It is a very do able goal. I just get worried when people set goals like that for them selfs. Some people, if they don't meet goals don't eat well enough so they can hit those goals. I see no reason you couldn't do that but please please make sure you are eating enough. |
Tammy ~ This program can work wonders as long as you follow it. It teaches you a new way of eating and how to be healthy by eating good, natural healthy food that taste as good as it looks. It does require cooking but worth it and like Tinky said cooking in bulk helps.
It is low fat, low sodium, and they prefer unprocessed foods but some thing are OK but not preferred. Like I buy no salt added canned or frozen veggies and no sugar added frozen or canned fruit but they prefer fresh. All flour products and dairy is eliminated. Oil is also eliminated but in the book it tells you if your skin, nails or hair gets dry add a little olive oil or flaxseed oil back to your plan. I also use quick oats and the quick cook brown rice but they are not preferred but works for my body. You can also use brown rice noodles or white but they prefer brown. You also drink water, water and more water. LOL! Every time we go someone where I say I have to go potty to my DH and his response is "Go figure". You do get to know the bathroom well. HAHAHA! You can check the program out at www.provida.com. You can take the test to see what body type you are, go in to the boards to see what people are doing that are on the program, see their results, look at on plan recipes, read success stories, etc. The program encourages you to take this to your physician and I strongly suggest it also but only because a few people hadn't and already had preexisting problems and the program made it worse. Low blood pressure being one of those conditions and the doc just had them add some sodium back. My doctor approved it right away because it would help my health issue of diabetes. It only took 2 months and my diabetes went into remission and I haven't had any problems since. There are adjustments that need to be made for certain conditions like low blood pressure or hypoglycemia. Other than those conditions I have only heard of one other person that ended up with gal stones and the doctor said its because she lost so much weight so fast. Then for some reason she tried to flush the stones with flaxseed oil and they ended up in her pancreas. I don't know what happened from there. She said the only regret she has is losing it so fast that it caused the stones. Some people have gotten bound up but I don't know how with all the fiber and water you take in. The problem personally took care of my acid reflux, urinary track problems and bowl problems. I have more energy now and feel healthier. It has done a lot more than just help me lose weight. Is it easy, no but does it do what they say it will if you follow it, YES! It has been worth every penny I paid for it. |
Valley ~ WELCOME BACK to calorie counting!
Tammy ~ You crack me up about the 166 thing and I hear you but I am headed there. LOL! Have confidence, you can get there. Inches lost are just as important if not more so than the scale. That means you are building muscle and muscle takes up less space than fat and uses more calories to maintain even in the resting state. GOOD JOB! Tinky ~ Bonnie from the commercial is in a group I have been posting with for several years. Some of the others stop in on occasion to say hi. Also, the one that had lost the most, her name slips my mind at the moment, I have chatted with her before. She is still hanging around the boards encouraging people and willing to help with problems. She is just a beautiful individual. I believe all the people on the infomercial actually have stories posted in providaland as we all call it. LOL! There success stories online go into more detail than the infomercial. OH geez. I forgot to change my ticker to where I really am. I will do that right away. Well I will talk to you all later. XOXOXOXO! |
Grammy- Wow..well put about the 6WBMO. You sound like you're doing your own informercial!;) Tammy, I also got approved and got the Dr's blessings. It has helped me with my blood pressure, and overall mood changes. I am a lot happier and livelier. LOL! I have gotten to know the bathroom pretty well too. LOL!
I do check Provida from time to time, especially if I need some new recipes or just want some motivation. The people on there also tell it like it is. I love the site as well. Shy- Health reasons are always the best when it comes to weight. I never thought I would be classified as obese until I went to the Dr.s I was in serious denial. Ok, I am going to change my goal to 140, at 140 I am at a healthy weight. If I left it at 150, it would be overweight. LOL! So I have a little bit to go. LOL! |

I made myself a chart yesterday, with all of the daily requirements...I was really surprised at how little of the daily requirements I get for dairy and proteins and grains. I was staying in my calories range so I figured I was doing ok. What an eye opener that was for me. I really need to learn to be more careful so I am getting the right nutrition. It would be very easy to "fall off the wagon" if I started feeling poorly because i'm not eating enough of the right foods! I wonder if other people do the same thing. I'm beginning to believe that its not just about calorie counting...its really about proper nutrition and healthy portions. *this would be a good time for someone to slap me on the forehead and say "DUH!!!"* :D Quote:
|
Shy-I am doing good. I have been off track again....to the point where I didnt want to get on a scale. But today I FORCED myself to weigh in just to see how bad I was. I was surprised, I was still the same weight! So I am going to be on plan again!
Tammy-things are going ok for you? Are you liking it over here with us now? I am having my ankle surgery MONDAY! OMG I can hardly believe it is 5 days away! DH and youngest DD are driving to Rapid City, SD on Sunday to be there on Monday for the surgery. I figure I can go swimming with them Sunday night, then we can go to the Surgery Center Monday mid morning when it is time to check in. I will be on crutches for 2 months then a walking cast for 4-6 weeks after that...so my whole summer is pretty much SHOT. But that is ok, I need to have this done. |
I'll be checking out that site for the program and see what it is. Might be something to consider.
Still, things are ok. I do like the calorie counting thread. Pretty good group!! I can't believe the surgery is so soon! It seemed so far away. |
Tammy-I know what you mean! Seemed that I had a LONG time and now here it is 4 days away now.....WOW.
I am doing better. I was pretty good the last 2 days. I have not been PERFECT, but much better than the past week..... I am working on it again today so we will see what happens. I guess my mom may move by me again in the next couple months, she is having some hard times and I told her I would help her out, so we will see. |
Still
Sounds like you have a lot going on with surgery just around the corner and your mom moving close by. I know it is hard but try to relax and just take things one day at a time. Here is what you do lol. Get a sprinkler hooked up to the garden hose. Put a lawn chair in your hard and that sprinkler right under your chair lol. Put a plastic bag over that cast. Get cool and enjoy the outside all you can. valley I was surprised when I started to look at how much I needed to eat to get those required amounts of the four basic food groups in. It takes me from the time I get up until the time I go to bed to eat enough. I wasn't eating near enough of the bread and cereal group. I still struggle with that group. You are absolutely right. Calories are important, fats and carbs and proteins are important. BUT getting the right amounts of foods is even more important. Staying within my calories and such isn't all that hard. That doesn't mean I am always eating what I should be. This is something I really have to pay attention to as it gets hotter. I already had the problem that I didn't eat enough and I know I never want to eat when it is hot. I feel like nasty all over when I am not eating what I should be eating. Tinky I was never in denial lol. I knew I was the size of a school bus. I have come a long way. I am only the size of a mini van now lol. |

Shy-I can tell you this...that cast IS NOT going to slow me down this summer...I have only really modified 2 activities....the rest I will do come he*l or high water..
I plan on doing just that...getting in the sprinkler with my 3 y/o and still going to the pool with her (wading pool that is). I am getting excited to get it over with.... |
Grammy and Tinky, did you buy the whole package that it talks about at the site, or did you buy a book and learn about it that way?
Valley, I've been logging my foods online, and it shows me at the end of the day how I've done. It was an eye opener at the beginning. I am doing much better now. Good luck! And as for age, you are just a pup!!! I just turned 53 in May. I didn't go to class this morning. I was hurting so bad that I asked my husband to help me get dressed. He just looked at me and said, "I think it is really silly to try to do the class if you can't even dress yourself." Good point. I took some of the arthritis medicine and went back to bed. I'm feeling better, but I still hurt. It has been raining, so I'm sure that is part of it. Hope you all have a great weekend! |
Tammy- I am so sorry you were in a lot of pain this morning! I hope you feel better. I bought the whole system, but didn't buy it through their site, I went to HSN (home shopping network). I chose to do the 3 monthly payment options. There is a lot of info to go through. But it's fun. Are you thinking about getting on it?

I gain weight when I don't eat enough lol. My body turns everything I put in my mouth to fat. I eat more I lose weight lol. Still I can remember going in the river and tubbing with a back brace on lol. I wasn't going to sit around. Tammy I am sorry today is one of those bad days. Pain is just something hard to deal with. Hope you feel better real soon. Well, didn't lose any weight this weigh in but that is ok. I started my DOT today and no weight gain at all is probably a loss since I can be up about 5 pounds this time of month. That is how I am going to look at it lol. I was expecting the weight loss to slow down since I am getting closer to goal. Have a feeling I am going to have to pay closer attention to how I am eating. The days of being off here and there are probably over. On the other hand, we are talking this is the rest of my life. Slower weight loss is ok as long as I don't have to do without everything to lose what I have left to lose. I am just tickled. I weigh about 60 pounds less than I did last summer, I can cross my legs. I don't feel like Shamoo the killer whale when I am in the pool lol. |
Well I am at work today...then at noon when we close I am going to get my little one from grandma's and go home and get things ready. We are leaving tomorrow about noon to drive to where my surgery will be on Monday. It is a 5 HOUR drive, so we are going to drive tomorrow and then stay in a hotel so I can swim with little one. The older kids are staying home(well with friends).
Monday I have to be to the surgery place by 11am! My surgery is at 12:30. I will be home Tuesday night but I am pretty sure I will not be online again until Wednesday at least...... So I wanted to let you all know where I will be! Good luck and have a great weekend/beginning of the week! |
Still
You let us know as soon as you can how you are doing. Will keep you in my prayers that things go smoothly and you recover quickly. |
Hello Ladies! What a difference a day makes! I am feeling much better today. I have been able to get quite a bit accomplished since I didn't do anything yesterday.
Tinky, I'm not sure about buying the whole system. That's alot of money to spend. I did take the little quiz, and I am a B, whatever that is. lol Valley, I can relate to the back problems. I have arthritis in my lower spine. Some days are worse than others with it. Shy, no gain is great!! And about 60 pounds gone is wonderful!!! Still, be careful on your 5 hour drive. Keeping you in our prayers!! We'll look forward to hearing from you. |
Well... I've been counting for about 2 weeks now and have lost around 7 lbs. So I just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. This thread seems like a great place to get support and tips.
~April |
Welcome April!! You have done great with the 7 pounds!!
|
Hey guys! Since calorie counting is my main method of weight loss, I'm joining you guys. My plan is to stick to 1,200 - 1,400 (the absolute max) cals. a day. In 4 days now, combined with 45 min. daily cardio, I've lost 1.5 lbs. Here's to hoping!
|
Hey all! The weekend seemed to be about right for me, I am ready to go back to work. I find it that at work I have more control over my plan. LOL At home I have too much freedom.
Still- I know you probably won't be reading this for while, but I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Speedy recovery, and good luck with everything. Tammy- It was a pretty pricey program, that's why I opted for the payment plan on HSN. I needed it because I need a lot of discipline. It has payed off so far. April- Congrats on your 7 lbs!!! That is great motivation to keep at it!!! Rachel- Good luck with you journey. It's nice to meet you. :D I had a NSV, I got into pants a smaller size. I was as JC Penny yesterday after lunch. I told DF that I wanted to go put some new pants on and see where I am at since my current pants are loose. He cautioned me since we just had lunch, to maybe not do it. Well ha, he was wrong I was able to get into 12's, with room to wiggle. I bought a pair, and now that I broke them in, they're getting loose. So I am not going to buy too many new pants, and just take my friend's hand me downs. LOL! People have been giving me clothes that are too small for them. Ok, have a great day everyone!!! |
Valley, I hope that you are right about feeling better with the loss. I was weird. When I was at my heaviest, I had less back pain. Go figure! Even the doctor told me I was "different". lol
Rachellia, good luck on this journey! Make sure you don't go below 1200 calories though. Ok?? Tinky, have to agree with you about the freedom at home. I'm retired now, so I have lots of freedom. I had a friend who used to give me clothes too! It was wonderful. I felt like I was always wearing something new. For now, I think I'll just keep doing what I've been doing, trying to keep between 1700-2000 calories a day. For my size and age, I've been told 1800-2000, so if I get to 1700 I feel I'm ok. I'm still doing the aerobics class in the mornings 3 days a week. It is an hour class. We do alot of weights in the class, so my arms are definitely getting stronger. Today I started a water aerobics class that starts 40 minutes after the other class. It was interesting. I have been doing water aerobics for a couple years at the Y where I live. The other one I drive about 10 miles. Anyway, I am probably the youngest in the class at 53! Compared to the class that I take during the rest of the year here, this one is pretty mild, so I'm going to be stepping it up some. It's funny because in the 8:00 class, I'm one of the oldest, and I have to tone it down for me. Oh well! As long as I'm working out. The sun is shining today, and so far no rain! We had nasty storms last night. I know of areas that lost power, but we were fortunate. Take care everyone!! |
Tammy
That is so great. We both feel better today. Today is a brand new day for us to do what we can to become the healthy people we want to be. You are doing terrific. All the exercise you are doing is so good for you. I bet you are toning up great. april Your doing great. It is amazing how well the body responds to eating the required amounts of those four basic food groups and exercise. I say: This isn't about weight loss. This journey we are all taking is about eating in a healthy manner and exercising. The side effects of those two things is weight loss. Rach You are doing terrific. Make sure those calories count for you and you are getting all the required amounts of the four basic food groups in. I know I find there are days I have tons of calories and fats and carbs left over from what I allow myself and I have to find things to eat lol. Tinky That is terrific about the smaller pants size. The very reason I love good will lol. I am not going to spend big money on a pair of pants that isn't going to fit very long. I stood in the dressing room and cried when I decided I wanted a new pair of pants and every 12 I tryed on had wiggle room lol. Ok, so todays 12 is yesterdays 14 but I still had wiggle room lol. |
I would love to have time to read but I don't. Work has been hectic for some reason, I think they forgot its summer break. Then we had a funeral to attend on Friday. DH is going in to have his thyroid killed tomorrow so I will be gone tomorrow, which means tomorrows work had to be done today. What a rat race. I will be glad when DH's problems are all taken care of and he goes back to work so I can have my old life back. LOL!
Eating wise I am still struggling and I know its because my life is turned upside down right now. My girlfriend (SIS) took a turn for the worse yesterday and I am eating my emotions instead of facing this thing. Today I am back on track and hopefully stay that way. At least I am losing what I gain each week so I am staying steady but that isn't good enough, I want a loss. Well I have to go pick DH up from work so I will talk to you all later. |
well I've actually been doing pretty good lately with both exercise and counting. It's been way too humid though to exercise outside. I tend to mix weight training and walking/jogging together to get where I want to be... I will try to check back soon to see how everyone is doing!
