Wink Hi calorie counters!

Hi...just wanted to jump in and hope it's o.k. I have my food scales, measuring cups, prepackaged snacks, fitday account and now my 3FC account. I think I am ready to do this thing (diet). I was just wondering if you all use online programs to count calories like fitday? How do you guys do it? Do you keep a written journal and log fitday at the end of the day or as you go? I need to figure out the best and easiest way to keep track, because I know what a slacker I can be with very little provocation.
It looks like you are all doing great with your losses - - I am so happy for you all.
Anyway, thanks in advance for your replies...tg

Hey TG welcome I use my daily plate...depending on what I am eating I log everytime I eat unless it was the same thing I ate another day...then I know I am under calories. Also I bring a note pad and pen when I am out to log as well...just incase I forget a bite of dh's food I took or a sip of his drink.

I use fitday. I usually plan what I'm eating for most of my day (through late afternoon snack) the night before. So I put it in at night for the next day. When I get home I plan dinner and make sure that it fits into my calories. I usually put it in fitday before I eat dinner. Then after dinner I plan the next day.

irish~ A $20 treadmill???? Wow! That's an awesome deal!

Well I was looking at my BMI chart.. I am 34.6 BMI I was 39.9 I need to be 163 to be no longer obese and 136 to be no longer over weight so I have added those to my list of mini goals

26lbs until no longer obese
53 lbs until no longer overweight

If I lose 2lbs a week it will take me until september 12th to hit my goal weight really thats not that far away but I am hoping to reach it before that

Hey ladies, I've been a lil under the weather the last few days. I wake up with a sore throat which eventually subsides, but by late afternoon my body is feeling all achy. Friday and Saturday my calories were above range but I'm keeping in check today. Despite feeling crappy I did venture out this weekend. Yesterday after taking dd to nastics and bowling, I went and got my nails done. It had been probably 5 weeks since they had been filled, I ended up getting new ones and they look great. Today I went to the dreaded grocery store. I hate going on Sunday afternoons, seems like everybody and their dog are there and some of them are just soooo rude! By the amount I spent I think I brought the whole store home with me. I need to work on finding some cheap meals that aren't a lot of calories, any suggestions would be great!

Irish-WOW 20 bucks for a treadmill thats awesome. I'm sure you'll love it! I used to go to the gym a couple times a week, but after I got my treadmill, I started going less and less. I love the fact that I can decide when I'm gonna exercise, I don't have to do it on the Y's schedule and I don't have to worry whether I'll have some one to watch Maddie. Way to go on skipping the sweets!

Turtlegrl-I use fitday. I like that I can track my food, exercise and journal all in one.

Zenor- I have the same problem with bread. Any kind of bread thats just out of the oven I'm all over it whether I'm hungry or not. After its cooled, I'm not so interested. My family likes dinner rolls and stuff with their meals but I very rarely make them anymore cuz I tend to go overboard with em.

Ok, well ladies have a great night, my headache is starting to subside so I best get some laundry done.

Dream ~ I had that same think a couple weeks ago. After the body aches hit it was only another day so hopefully it has run the course for you also.

OGS has RSV! I took him Friday even though he was sick and by Saturday morning I decided it was time to take him to the doctor. DD was against it but I told her I was using my best judgment and he needed to be seen. Nothing was truly helping to bring his fever down or clearing his nose or cough. She said I am sure its nothing but she OK him to be checked. Sure enough he had RSV but thank goodness his lungs are clear. So for the next two weeks he has to have breathing treatments. He doesn't like them but they are working. I glad I didn't have to pay for all the stuff. Just for the meds and the machine he needed was $475 and that didn't include all the tests and seeing the doctor. It is contagious and I told her to keep an eye on all the other kids, especially the baby. She felt really bad because she hadn't taken him in and gave me a hard time about taking him in. She bought him some special things like a new sippy and shirt w/Tigger on it.

Then DH got the flu. I am sure he picked it up from the hospital so I hope OGS doesn't get that. ARG! It was like a big circle. I kept spraying everything DH touched with Lysol. I don't think he appreciated it but I don't want it. So he was blaming me for taking OGS.

If that wasn't enough going on I broke the ice out of the horses tank and went to toss the shovel over the fence and it came back and smacked me in the mouth. First I made sure my teeth were there and then realized they went through my lip on the back side. Boy did my lip bleed and swell instantly. Teeth still there, jaw sore but not broken but a fat lip. It is healing already.

I blew it on Friday and will never again trust myself with fresh cheese pizza. I was just so mad at myself. Then I wanted to try and get something down OGS, doesn't eat when sick, so I bought him Reeses. Yep, he ate them because he loves them so much but so did I because he learned to love them from me. ARG! I did go over my calorie count on Friday from the pizza but I didn't when I ate the candy because I gave up the healthy stuff to stay in my count. Anyway, I have to lose a pound I gained. AGAIN ARG! This Friday, we are definitely going out for Fish for Lent instead of cheese pizza. I don't over eat on fish, LOL! Go figure.

So that was my interesting weekend. I am sweeping it under the rug and looking forward to a better weekend this week.

Irish ~ You sure are determined to get this weight off and are doing fantastic. A $20 treadmill, what a blessing and how generous. I would love to have another but DH and I talked about it and for now I will stick with my gazelle. I have a tendency to be like your in laws with equipment. I have two things I have bought in the last year that I don't use at all. Nope, I have other ways to exercise that are easier. LOL! What do you usually run a day for calories? Just curious. I am trying to keep mine between 1500 and 1700 calories because I am active. I usually get around 10,000 steps a day and do Curves twice a week. I don't want to go to low to soon.

Turtlegurl ~ I have a spread sheet and some calorie counting books I use to figure calories. I also just use what it says on the label. Weekends I don't usually access the internet because I have my GS and its just not convenient. I even write it down on paper on the weekends usually because GS likes the computer a little to well if its on.

Zenor ~ WOW, you got a lot of suggestions for portable meals.

Little chilly here today. It was -3 and I don't remember what they said for wind chill. Irish, I am sure you are used to it but for me BRRRRRR! I hope its short lived.

Well I better get going for now. I need to do the payroll. I'll be back in a while.

Good morning ladies -- hope you all had good weekends! Mine was great in a lot of ways but totally disheartening, food-wise. I was visiting friends in Seattle and told myself I'd give myself a little break, not log my calories over the weekend but just do my best to eat reasonably. Not necessarily avoid everything unhealthy, but not overdo portions. I totally failed, stuffed my face all weekend, and as of this morning am up almost 3 pounds from my weigh-in last friday. Oof. I know it's not all "real" gain and I'll probably get rid of it again pretty fast, but it's just really discouraging to think that I can't give myself a little reprieve without going totally crazy. That's actually been one of my goals, is to find some kind of middle ground. I'll get there eventually I guess.

Turtlegurl -- welcome! I use fitday and I generally plan my food at night, for the next day up through the end of work, and try to be somewhere between 800 and 900 calories for the day at that point, leaving myself about 700 for dinner, which I just sort of log as I go.

Coldbrightday ~ I hear you, look at my pizza and Reese failure. I usually have control when eating pizza but I let DH bring my plate and it had 3 pieces and I ate all three, just because it was there and tasted good. ARG! Think of a game plan for the future, that is what I have done. Next time when we are having pizza I am going to have a nice big salad first, order veggies on my pizza and only have one or two slices.

I did have one triumph this weekend. We went out to eat yesterday and I ordered my meal and only ate half the sandwich and 1/2 the fries. I was eating away at the french fries when I realized I was just eating to eat. I wasn't hungry any more. So I stopped in my tracks and left the rest on my plate, I have never done this before. I am having the other half a sandwich tonight with soup for dinner.

Ooh, nice job! I love that feeling, of noticing that you're not hungry anymore, and stopping, even if there's food left on your plate. (Besides, I love leftovers! So easy!) Unfortunately I just didn't manage to do it myself this weekend. But I have in the past, so I know I can!!
