Welcome. I used to do just low carb and had the same experience, more or less, that you had. Doing low carb did teach me my triggers and I now count calories and avoid refined carbs, which are my triggers. I eat as much fruit and veggies as I want as well as a variety of proteins. Make use of what you learned last time, but be careful when you count calories to avoid the fats. I had a very hard time letting go of the "eat as much fat as you want" atkins type thinking. Fats are very high in calories as I'm sure you know. Be kind to yourself and do as the others recommend, just keep track of your calories for awhile and gradually you cut things out. I was told that an easy rule of thumb for figuring your calories is how much you should weigh times 10 plus or minus 200 depending on your activity level. There are lots of good reviews about Jillian Michael's book and calorie counting, although I haven't been able to get it from the library yet.

Jillian has two books. Winning by Losing is her first book, and Making the Cut is her second. Making the Cut is aimed at those trying to lose the last 10 pounds and get in really "cut" shape, and my understanding is that it's more strict.
