This is a strange confession, but I was watching "Bridezilla" one evening and the bride in question was desperate to lose weight before her wedding. She and her mom went out to eat in a diner and the bride actually brought her scale along. I kid you not, she weighed herself before she ate and then directly afterwards and then huffed about having "gained a pound" over lunch.

Default good scales

The best ones are the old kind that they used in Doc's offices. I don't like digitals. I don't like digital Blood Pressure cuffs either. We had an EXPENSIVE digital scale at work the kind you can use a wheelchair with. I don't know how much it was probably close to 5 grand. It was a piece of crap, and worse if the weight was off you had to go through all this stuff ( usually over a screwey reading) The hand weight scales you can adjust them which is nice and unless they're dropped or rusty they work great. I have no idea where to get them though or how much they are but if you want accurate thats my 2 cents worth.

Geez, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing OCD with my scale! I keep telling myself I am only going to weigh once a week..... but I just can't. I even put it up and away where it is difficult to get to. Next up, I'll have to get my hubby to hide it from me! I have started only recording it once a week so I guess that's an improvement.

Yes- I constantly get different readings up to 3 lbs different. And yes, they typically start out low and get higher. BOO.

Also in the market for a new scale so I'll be interested to see if anyone else has feedback in regards to a specific kind to get.

I too am OCD, I have a 5 or 6 year old Taylor that I was convinced was off, so I bought a new one, a WW scale. Both give almost identical readings (the WW is a bit different since it reads to 1/10th of a pound and the Taylor does 1/2 pound increments).

Both scales are reliable, since they're giving the same weights, and I'm now a happy weigher! Both were at or under $30.00.

The Taylor sometimes annoys me because I live in a very old drafty cold house (I love it) and when the temperatures are lower it needs to be warmed up or it won't work- I get a 'lo' message if it's too cold and I know it's not talking about my weight! That's the big other reason why I wanted a new one. I must look like a double fool in the mornings shivering, stark naked and holding that scale up to a heating vent.

I have a WW scale too. It measures to 1/10th of a pound and is very reliable. I get the same number each time I step on it (well, in a row. Unfortunately, it still shows fluctuations throughout the day. )

lol i do that too!!!
I do tend to weigh every day, once in the morning... after said activity lol. I find the fluctuations help keep me on track (if i'm up a couple lbs i know i didn't do so well on my sodium intake, and i'll keep a better eye on it.. i tend to suck up water weight quickly)

I work on Sundays at a Exercise Facility. I keep the nursery, but get to work out for free by working one day a week. Anyways I weigh on their scales every Sunday, because their scales seems more acurate than mine.

Ooops, I never even thought about weighing myself more than once! And I won't start now Is this normal?
I have a digital too. And I can go entire weeks without weighing, but now I'm on a challenge so I just do it to keep track. I always "look" at the way I feel in my clothes, not at the weight.

UPDATE!

Wednesday is my weighing day anyway, so I went and did the deed. Girls, it looks like I have the best digital scale around, because it showed the same weight (194.9) 3 times in a row. It's the WW scale they have now at Costco.

Great for me!!! More than 3 pounds in a week! And I'm also at my TOM, and I retain a ton of water (that's why I didn't weigh early in the morning - I thought I should try in 2 days).

LOL! I have a digital scale that does the same thing.

What I have found is mine often does the same readings if I put my feet apart towards the edges. I can get off and on and it always reads the same.

If I stand with my feet in the center I usually weigh a couple pounds less but I can never get the same reading twice. It widely flies all over the place by as much as 20 lbs. I can't see that as accurate at all.

So this week I faced it. If I want a true reading I need to see that little higher weight and face the fact. Now this may not be true for everyone else scale but it is for mine. The good news is I faced the fact and I am down 2 lbs this week. So, I know its really 2 lbs that I have lost.

LOL - Tomorrow morning I will be weighing in with 10 different foot positions just to see what the scale says.

I have a digital scale, too. I thought I was the only one with a nutty scale! I try to weigh myself once a week or less, because I see it affects me when the numbers are higher than they are supposed to be. This morning I weighed myself and it showed a huge loss. I couldn't believe it, so I hopped on again and it showed a 5 lb. gain. Huh? I got on it one more time and it said I plateaued. I figured it must be the battery, so I bought a new one. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
