Default Calories low--problem?

Since I've started law school, I find that I'm just not that hungry in the evenings. Not hungry at all, really. I eat breakfast and a fairly substantial lunch, but because I'm in class at night, I don't get home until about 9:30. When I do, I'm just not hungry. I've been forcing myself to eat a little something like fruit or cheese or yogurt, otherwise my calories would be under 1000/day, but it is a matter of forcing myself. Should I eat if I'm not hungry? I know my body probably needs the fuel since it's been anywhere from 7-9 hours since I've had anything, but I really, legitimately do not feel hungry in the evenings. Since starting school, I've been averaging about 1150, which I feel is awfully low. Today I managed to kick up to 1290, but that's because I planned ahead and had a big lunch with lots of protein that clocked in at around 800 calories. Thoughts? Suggestions?

That does sound really low - and if you don't eat enough you can stall your weight loss (not to mention make yourself ill). Try adding some lean protein (turkey breast rolled up, cold chicken, light string cheese, lowfat/nonfat yogurt etc). Can you bring something in with you and snack late afternoon ?? I wouldn't want to eat much after 7Pm or so (depending on when you go to bed).

For your current weight, it is definitely LOW. 800-1000 calories a day for someone who is 264 isn't enough. Is there any way you can add small amounts of calories here and there...like taking a handful of almonds with you in a baggie, and eating a piece of fruit at some point during the day?

It isn't just about weight loss...it is also about basic nutrients that your body needs to function, and 800 calories, especially at your current weight, will not provide it.
