Thank you Dream! It's weird, this weekend I was sitting around and it just hit me to start counting the calories, don't know why, but Monday morning it was like "I can do this and I will do this!"... I bought one of those calorie counting books at Barnes & Noble yesterday after my son's football practice, then my hubby decided to take us to Carrabba's for dinner...I was looking through the menu "can't have that... can't have that... nope that would kill the calorie count... nope can't have that either..." LOL I thought my husband was going to smack me! The nice thing was at the end of dinner, he actually turned down desert as he knew I wouldn't eat any of it.

Dream, where are you at in Nebraska?

Andi, Currently I'm in GI. My husbands job makes us move quite a bit. In the last 5 years we have lived in four different towns. He's been trying to move up in the company this year which means another move. Where are you?

Bridgette.

Okay so today's calorie count will not be the greatest I have had this week. It was not supposed to be a good day at work because of a press release that came out where I work. Needless to say management stepped up and ordered over 300 pizzas for 1000 people, my manager and her manager both brought in dounuts (Krispy Kreme and Winchell's) and someone brought in a birthday cake...and guess where the sweets sit...on a table right behind me. So not nice. I have avoided the cake and only ate 1/2 of a Krispy Kreme original glaze, but I have a feeling the pizza is going to do me in. It will be work-out Mania tonight!

Oh and Bridgette, I live in the big O! .... at least for the next year and a half... waiting for hubby to get done with his PhD so we can get out of cornhuskerville.

Haven't been around in a while and I see everyone has disappeared. I thought I would just check in in case anyone is lurking and not posting and hopefully we can revive things.

Things are going well for me on my program. As you can see I am losing steadily. DH is now helping me on the weekends which is a huge bonus for me because that is when I have always fallen and regained all I lost. I have 4 more pounds to lose by the end of this month to reach my September goal. Wish me luck!

I will check back later to see if anyone has posted. Miss you all!

I'm doing the calorie counting thing, but to be honest I think that the occasional treat every few weeks or something (like dinner out at restaurant) is fine....

I'm hoping it'll work, one high calorie meal in 6-10 weeks isn't going to make a huge difference really is it? - So long as we eat sensibly and don't go over board!

You're right mynxie ... the occassional treat doesn't effect your overall average calories much.

I am liking the calorie average thing, watching how my calories go over a 7 day period. The more I think about it the more it makes sense, plus it keeps things varied to keep from boredom and plauteau's, just gotta make sure there are more down days than up

Hey GrammyL good to see your still doing well, I think people have just gotten busy, I know I have!

Have a great weekend all.

Good to see there are people still around. I totally understand the busy part and it is the reason I wasn't around. I was sticking with my plan but I also post on another web site for the program I am doing. I just couldn't possibly keep up with everyone.

Another pound gone today. WHOHOO!

I think I over did it yesterday and I am paying with being totally drained today and I am fighting a cold. I took cold medicine before I went to bed and I just can't shack the sleepiness part of it. I can almost her me snoring as I post. HAHAHAHA!

Have to get going and will talk at you all on Monday. TGIF!

Hey Ladies! Glad to see this thread come back to life! I have been doing pretty well on my calorie count so far. I should be taking in a couple hundred more calories a day probably but I'm still trying to figure out what foods I can eat that won't add too many calories. I try to spread it out throughout my day so that all of my calories aren't at night.

Any ideas as to what I should have to eat at a pizza restaurant tonight? I have a feeling their pizza is going to have more calories than PH and Dom's.

Hi ladies. I used to post on this very board maybe over a year ago now. I successfully lost (then) about 30 lbs over the course of a few years. Well one year has passed and I've put on a good 40+ lbs from where I was a year ago (incidentally, when I got married). It was a big slap in the face for me when I stood on the scale the other night and realized just how far I've fallen off the wagon. So I am here for some support, some chat, and new friends as well as maybe some old ones. I'm aiming for 1500 calories a day or less, and now trying to work out at least twice a week for 30+ minutes.

Doing good this week (my first counting week!) and have took two 40 minute walks and did one arm-weight routine. Hopefully I can keep this up, and keep myself motivated. Hi ladies!

Hi Ladies,
This seems like the place for me. I joined the forum last year some time I think, but didn't stick with it. Now...my lab tests show high cholesterol and super high triglicerides, my doctor put me on Lipitor, and I made a decision.

Calorie counting. I'll also have to watch my fats and exercise. But I'm hoping that losing weight will have some effect. I feel better just from having made the decision. One good thing about this. It got me motivated again.
So. planned daily goals include...

Calories: 1800 (I'll probably do weekly averaging)
Fat: 40 grams
Exercise: Walk 5 days a week, starting this week with 20 minutes a day

Blessings,
Frances
